Fun With GOS Boots or HOW THE SHOE POLISH WORKS

One of the things I’ve learned in four years, is that you can never be sure that everyone GETS everything. I’ve been asked a couple of times recently if I knew how the boot polishes at GOS worked, so I figured HEY BLOG POST.

Cuz I have a blog.

So first off, take yourself to GOS and buy yourself some boots or shoes that have the boot polish system available. For my example I’m going to use the 8 hole DOCS.

They look like this, only smaller. Continue reading

Smell that pumpkinny air…

I love Autumn, and I’m so glad it’s here.  In real life it remains a perfect 90f outside… In SL I can pile on the scarves and long sleeves and pretend it’s cold.  I’m wearing a few new things to celebrate the season.  This skin is new from Plastik, the Aleria line.  So pretty, especially this blushing makeup, and an amazing number of boob options too (thanks, Aikea!).  The tattoo isn’t new from Lolapop, but it’s newly on a tattoo layer! (Thanks, Lola!)  And the shoes are cute and perfect and new from G*Field.  I’m so happy that Antonia Marat loves Autumn too — her set for this past FLF was outstanding.  More photos of me sniffing the pretend Autumnal air (and credits) behind this cut.

Fiore

Fiore is one of the limited color dresses that Mami Jewell from AZUL released last August and that will be on sale till the end of September.
Fiore is a gorgeous, romantic, delicate, black flower. Fiore – infact – is Italian for “flower”.
When you move or walk, it opens its petals made of tulle, suavely caressing your figure, softly embracing you, dancing its beautiful dance and you’re part of it…..

Fiore

The end of the month is near, so you better hurry up if you want to get this amazing dress.

IOF PSA: Marketing 201 for Creators

So your store is up and running. We can find your store from search and from your profile. Now it’s time to get the word out.

In-World Marketing Groups: I am a group-a-phobe and have no real expertise on in-world groups for marketing, but that’s okay. Harper Beresford is. She did a great summary on in-world groups for the Fashion Forum at Second Life Community Forums. Store owners should join marketing groups that connect designers with customers, but remember to be considerate and follow the posting guidelines for the group. Sasy points out that not all of these groups are for marketing, some are for advice and chat. MenStuff and WomenStuff are two from her list that are for marketing. There’s also What’s New SL and Fashion Consolidated or FashCon. Please post more suggestions in the comments.

IOF PSA: Marketing 101 for Creators

Kevin Costner has a lot to answer for. I know that “If you build it, they will come.” sounds lovely and all, but if you build it, they won’t come unless you tell them what you built and where to find it.

Who you are, what you built and where to find it – the essentials of marketing in Second Life. That’s not hard, but sadly many creators spend so much time and energy on their creations, they forget to market them.  I am writing this from the shoppers’ perspective and know that you may have other ideas. I am telling you how I look for and find stores and what I think is critical to making it easy for me.

Back to Dire Marsh

Sept 16_008

My favorite outfit from the sYs collection for Modavia Fashion Week is this one called Stardust. I guess I felt the Stardust would feel at home in the swamp since that’s where I decided to shoot. The outfit has an aged and distressed look with the shredded sweater that seemed to call for a more noir setting.

Glam, Glam, Glamorous

GLAM AFFAIR_005

Did you know that glamorous used to be the word for magic spell, an enchantment. In time it began to be used to describe someone who was alluring through the use of makeup, hairstyling and fashion. The enchantment came from styling instead of magic, from Vogue instead of the Book of Spells. People in fashion and the arts started to use glam – short for glamourous – in the 60s and the word came into its own with Glam Rock – but glam is not quite a synonym for glamorous, there’s an element of the avant garde, of edginess, of pushing the envelope. The name Glam Affair tells you right up front that this design house is not about movie star glamour, but about rock star glam. The glam of the bold, the brave and the beautiful.
