I wanted a bit of extra warmth with the bare shoulders, so I added a poncho from PrettyMoonS. PrettyMoons is a new store to me, one I found searching on Marketplace for red outerwear that would coordinate with the bold belt on the dress.

This is a quick post for various reasons! It’s been a WEEK. Nay, a veritable FORTNIGHT. But I am happy that it’s Friday, and here I am in a little more loot from the Starlust Monster Beach Party.

Trompe Loeil has a new release out that I’m in love with. It coordinates perfectly with the bed I blogged the other day – and it’s called the Morning Light bathtub. It’s loaded with animations for singles and sexy times for couples and has really nice looking water texture (Don’t you hate shitty water textures? Seriously? Why do they still exist?) that made me very relaxed.
Luckily, it also has a clock for decoration so I don’t lounge too long.

I did the Raid Your Closet Challenge and it was a lot of fun. I chose an outfit that I can’t say either way if it’s still available or not. It’s from Violent Seduction and she did an overhaul and got rid of a lot of her older outfits. This one is called Dark Princess Ero in black and it’s mostly sculpted parts and has like 3 skirt options but the caged skirt is my favorite. If you’ve never been to Violent Seduction you should check it out…lots of great outfits.
Part of my problem is, I’ve been deleting a LOT of my older stuff lately trying to get a hold on the madness that is my inventory. But I rifled around and found something things that I slapped together. I am even keeping the rule that you must have owned everything since before the beginning of the month. YAY Me. Monica Outlander has been in a design frenzy lately – releasing a huge collection of formals just as the month of fashion draws to a close. While Spring fashions have been strutting the runways of New York, London, Paris and Milan, Second Life designers keep their designs closer to real time and the real seasons, but there’s an element of spring in this one dress from MiaMai with its glorious floral abundance. While her collection includes some fabulous mesh gloves that are full or quarter length, for this dress she provided gloves with the dress in the same fabric for a bold floral push.

The primary rule is that you must have owned the items before the beginning of the month, but I decided to go back much further than that. I’ve been obsessed with SL fashion ever since I signed up in 2008, so I have a LOT of clothing in my inventory from “back in the day.” I’m looking forward to using some of it again, even if only for a few weeks! (And…cough cough…the challenge started this past Monday, so I’m a little tardy).
Putting this look together was a lot of fun. I dug through my inventory and kicked aside some giant dustbunnies in folders I haven’t opened since mesh became widely available. These were some of my go-to items for a long time. I love the textures of this jacket/shirt combo, and if it were real life, it would be worn out from wear by now. The denim skirt is from fri.day and was also in heavy rotation for a long time. (I really want to see more mesh denim skirts!). The Surf Co. boots are also old-ish, but have withstood the test of time and stand up strong against the mesh boots out there. This Lamb hair was my favorite for a long time, though lately I tend to stick with mesh to avoid prims cutting into my body.
If you’ve seen any of my previous posts, you’ll know I primarily wear mesh these days. But as much as I love mesh, it does have its limitations. When we had only system layers and sculpted prims, I think I was more creative with my outfits. I really enjoyed the layering options we have with those, and I hope one day we’ll be able to layer mesh in the same way.

Through the whole of my childhood, the bottom shelf of my grandmother’s food pantry was stocked with pudding and jello and marshmallows. Predominantly – PISTACHIO PUDDING.
This was because she belonged to 800 women’s clubs, from Eastern Star, the Martha Circle at church, the Women’s Republican Club, yadda yadda on and on. She also once belonged to the Women’s Christian Temperance Union swearing that alcohol would never touch her family’s lips. That one didn’t work out so well. But she needed the pistachio pudding for her signature dish at the many pitch-ins these groups held (called potlucks outside of Indiana). Continue reading

In both worlds, my favorite fall outfits center around a dress with boots and tights. Leverocci, DDL, and Elate all released cute dresses with longer sleeves, and Cold Logic has created lovely one-piece dresses with coats included! But summer dresses are great for fall, too, if you layer them with a cozy cardigan like the Toki-Doki one above.
(Meanwhile, in the real world, I’m still waiting for it to cool off enough to wear tights!)
