a girl again

First post of January and I’m back in my girl shape. I’ve got a backlog of things to write about that I just couldn’t talk my boy avvie into wearing (like these pretty new stockings from Schadenfreude), so I have a lot to do this month! I hope everyone had a good New Year, and that this year, you move out of your comfort zone and try new things. šŸ˜€ (Wait, was that a blessing or a curse?) The pretty horns are new from Lassitude & Ennui (I adore the design on them), and the dress and armwarmers are from Plastik.

Morning Adventure

 

I’ve got a full agenda today. That holiday off made it like a Monday all over again. Good grief, I am worn out just thinking of all the things this pixel girl has to accomplish today. But, there was nothing for it but to do it – so I hopped in the car and headed out into the world to cross off my list of to-do’s.

Art For The Mind

After a quick cup of coffee, I decided I was going to start my day out with some avatar enrichment. Ā So I popped over to an adorable modern art gallery.Ā I see a lot of Pollack Ā inspiration but the entire collection is one of various mode and tone in the modern school. It’s a fun location to shoot outside as well, so I recommend taking a few moments, and looking at something lovely today. It’s soul filling. I promise.

I Moved To Government Housing

My Linden Home - Welcome to 104 - the Boo Haus

 

It’s true. I have moved into a Linden Home – albeit probably temporarily.

Remember when they came out? And it was like wow, you can put one decent sofa in there and maybe a table and then you are out of prims? Well, with mesh, that’s all changed. I did some very cursory shopping – but my first pass at living a more modest lifestyle has begun, we’ll see how it suits me. Continue reading →

Fancy Dress Parties

Every year I cringe at the thought of New Year’s Eve parties. There is always this expectation that you are supposed to have an awesome time and party hard and every year I’ve always been let down. This year though, I had a pretty good time, granted, I spent the evening with friends in SL dancing and being silly at Rouge Lounge, it was an excellent time and I also don’t have to deal with a horrible hang over.

I found this simple and elegant evening gown from Lilleth Mills Couture on the marketplace called Lana. It’s moves so well and the texture gives the illusion that it sparkles when you move. It was a hit!

My New Year’s Resolution is to blog more – cause we all know I suck at blogging regularly… and since Luna JUST posted her last post of the 52-Week’s of Color Part Deux, I have some catching up to do……
So here goes… Week 11 Aquamarine. I chose this dress from GizzA, quite a while back and have had it in my “to be blogged” folder just waiting for me to get off my ass and blog….

Five Years Ago Today

My first blog post was published five years ago today. It is encouraging to see how many of the designers in the first post are still with us. RaC is now LAQ, but that is just a name change. Adam n Eve and Nikky Ree, Muse, Simtropia and Innovations remain, though Muse has not released anything new in a very long time. I guess it shows that quality endures if designers keep adapting as time passes. Of course, there are new designers who bring quality to the table too and who I expect will be releasing in five years if Second Life is still around. Certainly I would expect a designer that brings such variety and imagination to the craft as Giz Seom does for Gizza will be around for my 10th anniversary blog post.

My friend Alicia, over at Ch’Know StyleĀ had a NYE celebration early and I’m afraid I came home a bit late. Breakfast wasn’t really my cup of tea after such a long night, but I felt like I needed to try to eat something before facing my pixel New Year’s Eve officially.

Reflections, Not Resolutions

New Year’s Eve has never been a big holiday in my family. Most of the day was spent cleaning and preparing for New Year’s Day which was much more important. We always had a sparkling clean house and a feast on New Year’s, honoring a folk tradition that what you experience on New Year’s Day is the harbinger of the coming year. Well, one thing you would not want on New Year’s Day is a hangover! We didn’t make resolutions either. This was probably more the influence of my mother more than any tradition. She always said that if you plan to do something, just do it. If it’s important enough to do, it’s too important to delay until the new year. What we did do, though, is look back at the year and appreciate our good fortune.

Those traditions continue. I have been cleaning today. I am having a New Year’s dinner party tomorrow. And I have been looking back at 2012 and appreciating my good fortune.
