I Hired a Personal Assistant Fairy

I decided that it was high time I too acknowledged how fancy and important I was by getting myself a personal assistant in SL. However, I didn’t want one I would pay a pittance and then would be responsible for answering customer NCs if they came in, and for reminding me to make items for events.

No, I wanted on that would be at my beck and call 24/7 and who would make things appear that I wanted, for no other reason than because I was dreaming of them in RL. I wanted someone with MAGIC.

So, I got myself a fairy. Continue reading

Several Shoots Later

I shot this outfit five times. Five different times. This is a grand departure from my old self, wherein I would say TO HELL WITH THIS OUTFIT and delete it all and you’d never see it.

I used to feel like, it just wasn’t meant to be, if the pics were all shite. But that’s more Presbyterian than I care to be, so I kept going back and back and back to the studio, or that studio, or this location, or at my house, until eventually I even made myself a projector and played with it until I came up with these pics. Donna Flora Main Store Has Moved

jul06_004

Donna Flora has moved from the big sprawling romantic store with its secret rooms on Bonin to a more contemporary, streamlined store on Florencia. With Squinternet’s health keeping her from producing new items on a regular basis, she really needed to cut back, so she downsized from a full sim to a homestead. Her newest clothing has migrated to the new store and all of her jewelry is there as well. The old store will remain on Bonin for one last week and most of the older clothing that is there will be retired. While helping her move, I saw this dress, one of her early mesh pieces. I don’t remember seeing it before but I really liked the combination of a sleek sheath with the full sleeves.

Meanwhile at MiaMai, Monica Outlander made room for a satellite store for Donna Flora jewelry on her sim! This will allow people to continue to discover Donna Flora while shopping. She will also be producing some special designs in the near future, MiaMai for Donna Flora, with the sales all for Squinternet.

Peace, love, and purple skins

beach_001

Sometimes Second Life is Shakespearean stuff, but when it’s best, it allows me to have a peaceful and meditative place inside of myself. I love walking around on beautiful-interesting-evocative sims and soaking up the mood of the person who created it. I love looking like a purple spotted demon because of someone else’s vision. SLife’s good, even when you find out that half the men are women and vice-versa.

I’ve been exploring SL a lot more lately (as I might’ve mentioned). I’m still in SL very lightly, and sometimes I feel like I’m in an insular bubble in which I’m floating through the world but not engaging with it, much like being a ghost. Wandering in a ghost-like manner, I stumbled across the sim of Hazardous in the Destination Guide’s editor’s picks. It was beautiful! Two pictures of the sim are below the cut.

This bubble was penetrated just a little recently when I accidentally left Apatia Hammerer stranded far up in the stratosphere (Allegory had to rescue her), and also when I gossiped all afternoon with Miss Gidge. Well, up until the poop happened.

Oh the stories that us Oldbies can tell. We both concluded that we miss the merry revelry of diving deep into SL and getting all messy with it, but along with stepping back comes a certain amount of healthy wariness. Such is slife. Anyway, I dig my shirt-dress! It’s new from Trinite. Check them out, if you like!

When Two Moms Collide

Acha and I are doomed. Whenever we try to take a picture together, RL rains down on us like fire and brimstone from a past life catching up for old sins.  Like yesterday, we tried to have a quiet Fourth of July picnic when suddenly.

[18:27] Gidge (gidge.uriza): ok I have a poop incident…..
[18:27] Gidge (gidge.uriza): not mine
[18:27] Gidge (gidge.uriza): but i have to go

You see, the RL, there is poop.  Continue reading

Violet Rust

pinkelephants_003

I’ve been playing SL on my husband’s PC lately, and it’s been a terrible revelation. Yes, 8G of RAM really does make a difference. Things rez, for one. And photos take less time. And a desktop monitor sure does help frame photos… Argh. I’m torn between wonder and jealousy. But because of that, I’ve also been exploring cool sims a lot more. Easier to do when you don’t crash every few seconds!

Today I traipsed around the art installation sim Rust like a colorful overly-made-up schoolgirl in my wide sunhat and my little lolita dress. I met some elephants and an enormous creepy moth. Go explore Rust over here! (More photos and credits behind the cut.)

Gidge’s Fast Five July 4 Early AM Edition

GidgeFast Five My Fast Fives nearly always begin with me ego surfing IheartSL for my own poses being blogged. Yes. I actually do that. I can’t help it, I’m an egomaniac but also, I love to see the creativity and how people use the little poses I make. And because I was ego-surfing I found some good things that it’s a moral imperative that I share with you today.

1. Cold Frog and I – Dido Haas took freebies from an art exhibit, hung items and a new release or two and made art. I love these pics.

2. Summer Breeze: Evion Ember took the time to make a Bandana for Bandana Day at Hair Fair 2013 and blogs about how rewarding the experience was and how she chose the texture for her bandana. It’s lovely. Continue reading
