Who Knows Where the Time Goes?

mar13_010

I love the high fashion style of this black and white striped dress with the big shoulder epaulettes from InMonster for Fashion For Life. I prefer clothes that don’t make the alpha go all the way to the edges, it make shots from anything but a straight angle difficult. Of course, many designers do alphas right to the edge because shoppers get irritated at having to tweak the slide even one notch. For me, I would rather tweak that notch and not have little gaps. There are none showing, but from the back, if you are at the wrong angle, you see the yawning emptiness of alpha along the very bottom of the dress. Still, I love its style and it looks good from most angles. I love how the sleeve stripes go the opposite of the dress stripes.

Who knows where the time goes? Take today for example, it’s 4:30 and all I have accomplished is shooting these blog pics. I have not even done my Fast Five yet. Where did it go? To chatting on plurk, browsing the news, reading about the new Pope and other dithering. Speaking of time going, Fashion For Life is halfway through, so it’s time to make an effort to go there and help support American Cancer Society. In the fight against cancer, the time goes far too fast.

Across the morning sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can they know it’s time for them to go?
Before the winter fire, we’ll still be dreaming
I do not count the time

For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?

Seven Facts

mar12_004

The top and skirt from Tee*fy are emblematic of the New Romance theme at this month’s Collabor88. I could not resist the oh-so-feminine fishnet gloves from Adore & Abhor. They are old, but they are wonderful.

Berry has asked for folks to participate in her Seven SL Facts Meme and as they saying goes, “Let no good meme go unpublished,” so here goes.

1. I own the same 512 sm piece of land I bought back in 2007 when I joined SL. It’s on the Linden Ocean and I will never let it go.

2. One of my favorite things to do in SL is playing in the ocean with my 1L sailboat I bought at Enkythings my first week in SL.

Sassy at Fashion for Life

Mar11_003

There is so much that is smart about this lovely dress from Sassy! for Fashion for Life. For one thing, it is made in two pieces, as a top and a skirt so it can be worn separately and mixed and matched. For another, the chevron shape of the band is flattering and sexy as all get out. For another, the weave of the fabric is gorgeous and I love the light and dark threads. Continue reading

For Elyse – Tuli’s Release for Skin Fair 2013

Gold Girl

I went to bed shoeless, wondering what shoes would work with this breezy new dress from One Bad Pixel. But morning came and I had an epiphany.

Never doubt the power of a blogger who creates clean, memorable images. This morning, I work up and my first thought was – “G Field, that’s where I’ll go. Gogo always wear’s G Field and they’ll work great.” Continue reading

Dream Visitors

mar10_003

I was about 10 minutes late starting my DJ set on Monday night. I took a nap before the set and lingered in one of those waking dreams where you are mostly awake, but hang onto that dream because you really don’t want to let go. It was a bizarre dream. I was grocery shopping with my mother and searching frantically for some barbecue sauce to make some short ribs while my mom stood in one spot insisting “I would be happy with just a turnip.” It’s not the sort of dream one would cling to, except Mom died in 2006 and it was good to see her, even if she just wanted a turnip. Today is Mother’s Day in the UK and I am seeing Happy Mother’s Day wishes on my timeline and thinking of Mom. I am glad I get to see her from time to time, even in silly dreams with turnips.

Day to Night

Mar09_003

When we can change clothes with a click of button, carrying our entire closet with us wherever we go, we aren’t burdened with the challenge of trying to dress for the office and a date with one outfit. However, I thought it might be a fun thing to try anyway. I will concede the skirt is short for the office, but overall, I think this made a fairly good office look. I wore a lovely structured jacket from Elate with a snug waist that flows into a petal-like near peplum. I added a big fluffy bow from Yummy! to add a touch of modesty to the bodice. The bow was a pale mint, but I tinted it to limit my shades of green to two, not three. Both of these finds are from the March Collabor88.

Mar09_004

But when five o’clock rolls around, the jacket is coming off and that fluffy bow is being rotated to hang over the shoulder, so the gorgeous and sexy bandeau style bodice on this fabulous mini from Cracked Mirror is visible in all its glory. You can find this dress at faMESHed.

New Romance

mar08_005

This is the month many of you will fall in love with Collabor88 all over again. The theme is New Romance and it is rife with hearts and flowers, frills and furbelows and overall romantic femininity. It’s so sweet and girlie, you will have to brush your teeth after visiting. The epitome of the triple strawberry sundae with whipped cream and a cherry on top that is this New Romance showcase is the delightful Shabby Chic confection from Nylon Outfitters. First, let me say Brava! to Nylon Pinkney for recognizing that mesh is not the be-all and end-all of SL design and for opting instead to use the best option to realize her design. She has a lovely assortment of dresses in a lovely challis with a large, old-fashioned floral print. With them, she adds a lovely sheer lace blouse. She uses mesh for the skirt panel, but lets the dress fit snuggly and the see-through lace work with struggling with alphas.

I headed over the Visionaria for the Insight Forest Photo & Art Exhibition. It was a lovely spot and I could not resist shooting my post photos before walking through the gallery to enjoy the fabulous art work. There are ten artists exhibiting and you definitely should stop by and see their work.

There Was A Girl Named Isabella

I Need A Book for My Commute

My mother went to college with a girl named Isabella whose exploits were always retold with relish and laughter, when she and her friends gathered. There was the time Isabella broke up with her fiancee and threw his two carat diamond ring back in his face. There was the time Isabella almost married a real prince. There was the tragedy of the time her true love died in Vietnam, and well she was never the same. Continue reading

This Could Be Hazardous

mar06b_004

I have been seeing wonderful pictures from Hazardous and had to drop by for a visit. I was feeling chic and sophisticated in the fabulous Ariana sheath dress from Kunglers. It comes in several colors, but this marble version natural colors appealed the most to me.

mar06b_020

I though I might share this shot from Hazardous. I will be adding it to Sasy Scarborough’s  Second Life Stock Images pool. The Stock Images pool is an archive of photos that people are welcome to use as backgrounds in photos. You should check it out. Many are pictures from sims that no longer exist, but you can revisit them in photos.

Make Mine a Sarsaparilla with Phosphate

Mar07_006

I headed out to an old-fashioned diner thinking I would like an old-fashioned soda. When I was a child, it was an 85 mile drive to go to the eye doctor, so mom always gave me a special treat taking me to this old-fashioned diner that served phosphates. I always ordered a sarsaparilla phosphate and just the thought of one makes me thirsty and homesick and of course, makes me miss my mom. I stopped off at the Roadside Diner and I would have ordered a sarsaparilla phosphate, but the jerk was obviously taking a long, long break.
