Sakide’s Delhi dress for Marquis Market is a real head-spinning confection. It comes with a hud filled with as many color options as an ice cream counter. The dresses remind me a bit of ice cream with their ombre colors coming from brilliant fresh scoops of color in 14 flavors. Add the classic summer cut and the great fit and, really, what more could you ask?

New azure jewelry set from Ellabella, and stuff
Yesterday, late at night, I looked at this lovely blog and realized that I had things to say! But none of them were more important than Cajsa’s post, in which she described all of the articles that she’s written for AVENUE this month. I am partway through that list, and have the cool article about Bryn Oh bookmarked for later. So awesome!
Then I wanted to post something here this morning, and Gidge was already awake and looking pulled-together and gorgeous, like the organized working mom she is.
But I had things to say too, and I wondered what to do with them. My fingers kind of wandered for me, and I opened up a dusty blog named achariya.net. “Huh,” I thought. “I have stuff to say here again.” So I actually…posted on my own blog for a change. That doesn’t mean the fine women at IOF are off the hook! I will continue to bug everyone over here too! And I don’t really know what I want to do with that space yet. Maybe I’ll post once a month. Maybe I’ll only photo other people. The possibilities are vast…
Oh and look at my pretty new necklace from Ellabella for Genre (photo above) and a sim where I’m about to go shop like mad (photo below).

Events Are Everywhere!

Events, they’re everywhere. The trick to them is doing what my grandmother would’ve called separating the wheat from the chaff. While I might throw in my vote on the side of “There are too many events” what that really means is – there are too many crap events.
But that’s a generalization and those are never completely accurate now are they? Continue reading
An Avatar After Work

I’m officially moved in. I picked up Sophie from Auntie Inventory. She’s been visiting there for a while, she really loves it – Auntie Inventory HAS EVERYTHING. I decided that after a day full of being a fashion blogger and walking around looking pretty, there was nothing for it but to sit on the porch, gaze at the sea and have some wine.
That solves all life’s stresses, I’m pretty sure.

It seems like a big place to have all to myself, and making dinner just for me would be lonely, but Cajsa has moved in to be my neighbor! I’m SO excited that after all these years we’ll be within cup of sugar borrowing distance! Continue reading
The Problem With Moving

…is that I want everything perfect the moment I lay the house. Why isn’t everything where it goes? Oh wait, I have to DECIDE where it goes? New house, new floorplan? UGH. Decisions!

Baiastice’s contribution to THE ARCADE this month was the amazing set of Fairies and the shelf for them to sit on. I decided they were PERFECT above my fireplace. I won’t be told otherwise.

Barnesworth Anubis’ LAKESIDE COTTAGE will be the venue for my SL adventures, at least for a while. It’s so gorgeous, I still can’t get over all the windows looking out into the sea. I’m in love with this plot and the way the house works here.

My alcove loft I’ve converted into a study and whimsical family room area. It’s the closest to done in the house.
I can get used to this.

The amazing dress is DCNY. Shoes are LVLE. All else is also awesome, and in the credits.

No 15: In The Garden
Every church I attended when I was growing up had the Gospel Hymnal with all the songs numbered to help people find them quickly. We all knew Number 60 was The Old Rugged Cross. Dad’s favorite was No. 234, Children of the Heavenly Father, a traditional Swedish hymn that he preferred to sing in Swedish. For Mom, it was Higher Ground and for some reason I cannot remember its number for certain, though I think it was 117. Mine was number 15 – In the Garden.
I come to the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses.
And he walks with me and he talks with me
And he tells me I am his own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.
That songs speaks to the ecstatic experience – which though associated with faith can be experienced by anyone in the presence of absolute beauty. I remember the first time I had such a moment. I was six and visiting my sister and her family. We were at the Falls and exploring this garden that had a floral clock and the mist rose up from the falls making everything and everyone fall away. It seemed I was a alone in a fog of flowers. I stopped still and remember wondering if it was real or if I were dreaming. It was a profound experience, a kind of joy born solely out of beauty. I remember feeling the same way when I was a senior in high school and sitting in the gardens of the Alhambra. I was resting alone in a gazebo made of bougainvillea, sketching the fountain in front of me and suddenly the sunlight struck the water drops in such a way they seemed like prisms, radiating color in the air. It took my breath away and I again felt that strange feeling of unreality, a sort of “pinch me, I must be dreaming” moment, except you would never want to pinch yourself out of such joy. My Colors are Blush And Bashful

I have moved to the sea, a nice change of pace from the government housing I where I was staying. But it seems that I’m doing too good of a job decorating, because every time I log in, there are people in my house. They seem to like it too.
I decided that perhaps if I showed up as a zombie with horns, the word would get out and I’d have less unexpected visitors. Continue reading
Colors bleeding everywhere
I ponder that I am such a recluse in SL because the second I want to be somewhere, RL happens. For example, I would’ve really wanted to be at Squinternet’s gathering this morning at 9 SLT in order to listen to my friends talk about her, and honor her memory. Instead, I was driving my kid between violin and ballet, yep, the normal Saturday routine. It made me wonder how many SLers feel my pain — I suspect that many of us take up SL because it slides neatly around all of our other commitments. Health issues; work all day (at home or elsewhere); look after children/a child at night; head into SL to decompress…
Speaking of which, this pink jacket (fashionably Dead at C88) absolutely makes me decompress. It was brighter than the leaves of Oubliette, which is pretty amazing, considering. I’m still camped out in the sim, soaking in its beautiful glow. There’s a rumor that the sim might be looking to lease to few good vendors or residents — if you find the sim as lovely as I do and are looking for a place to call home (or sell your work), contact Elizabeth Tinsley in-world via notecard.
More photos and credits behind the cut. Also, look how cute Gidge looks in these stretchy pants!
Ojos mandarina
I am not the IOF queen of extremely pretty enormous face shots, Hybie, Gidge, and Cajsa are. But I totally stole their style to show you these vivid eyes and playful web lashes. The eyes are from The Stringer Mausoleum, and Helena says they’ll be in a special edition pack of four colors for purchase by her group (tangerine, saffron, lime and chartreuse colors). There are other new colors of these eyes out from TSM too (not group-only), and Phire posted about the very cat-like yellow set over at her blog Style Genesis.
Also, I’m totally naked.
In my last post, I speak for the trees, I mentioned that dwindling profit to the vendors has cut short the life of the beautiful sim Oubliette. I’ve been camping my avatar there, trying to capture the beauty of the sim before it fades (and investing as much as I can into Balderdash trees!). These two photos of Rivendell-esque beauty are from the sim:
Hair: Clawtooth Merci Beaucoup hair in Pumpkin – C88
Skin: Belleza Leila Pale 1 – C88
Eyes: The Stringer Mausoleum TSM Catscratch Eyes – Achariya’s Picks (Tangerine one) – Group Only Buy

Prevention Is Everything

This is full of stuff from Collabor88, including the sign from floorplan. and the dress from League.
There is a saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Well, when it comes to suicide, many times prevention is everything because there is no cure after death. Today is Suicide Prevention Day around the world and I wanted to take a moment to highlight a group in Second Life® that is doing their best to support people who are contemplating or have attempted suicide by connecting them to real world therapy and resources as well as providing information and support in-world. The Survivors of Suicide is a group of about 400 people who maintain an information center and informal drop-in center with group support meetings on Sundays and Mondays.
As you can see there is a lot of information. I dropped in to look around and there’s a room for folks to hang out, a game room and even a little shop to raise money to support the group’s land fees, etc. There were about a half dozen folks hanging out, all very friendly and welcoming even though I was just stopping by for a peek for the blog. I suppose we all know someone who has committed suicide. It has happened in my family. One brother-in-law shot himself when he became so sick with cancer, emphysema and cirrhosis that he could not live with it any more. Another brother-in-law drowned himself when the umpteenth different drug trial failed to treat his depression and his insurance company informed him that he has reached his lifetime maximum benefit and he would no longer be covered by insurance for anything. That is a cruelty of the health care system that will be eliminated by Obamacare on January 1st. The aftermath of suicide is a horrible trauma for families, one that is not really eased that much by understanding the motives and decisions. So this group is doing important work. You should check them out and be aware of what to look for and how to help family and friends who are in despair.
