A tiny island beset by industry

Rougham (2/3)

I went down to Rougham town (it was in the destination guide),
and when I was down in Rougham town, I saw a man astride
a dragon built of wheels and cogs, snorting industrial steam
a gentleman flying without any wings, weaving industrial dreams.

I came to photo my avatar there, wearing this dress from Wishbox
Fancying to myself that I was marrying an industrial gothic, um, … fox.
That rhymes with box, and in Second Life, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch.
But my rhymes are falling apart and so I bid you all a fair…um. Yeaaaah.

More photos of pretty Rougham and the outfit credits behind the cut.

Kingdom of Sand (2)

A friend and I had a discussion recently about how much or little Real Life to share in Second Life. She mentioned that back in the day, people warned her to keep all RL details private, and she carefully did. Over time SL became much different, with more than a little bleed between the toon and the reality. For both of us, our RL selves are far too frank to hide any of it, though.

We’ve both had experiences with people who roleplay their real lives through their avatars, which confused us mightily. Why lie about real life when it’s easy to say, “I’d like privacy, please!”

A different friend of mine switched genders to play her avatar, and mentioned to me once that it’s tremendously difficult for male avatars to get any peace at all about their real lives from inquisitive women. Yet another friend switched genders to play a female avatar, and said he has always been able to keep his RL private. I guess there are so many women in our virtual world that men are a rarity, and more curiosity is engendered by them?

I really wish that the avatars who want to keep their real lives secret could, so that instead of building up a trail of lies, they can simply enjoy the game.

At any rate, my avatar is lookin’ all role-playish in her new hair (fashionably Dead, at Hair Fair) and outfit (tee*fy from Collabor88) while visiting the Kingdom of Sand. Full disclosure: I don’t look a jot like Acha.

GREED (2)

The other day, a designer politely mentioned that she missed my boy avatar. My inventory is currently full of girl stuff, including (and especially) stuff from Hair Fair. I scratched my head, and then shrugged. Everybody’s used to BoyAcha looking effeminate anyway, so why not just… use the girl hair. Here he is in the fashionably Dead Moon Buns, looking like a surfer boy. Why the heck not.

I’ve taken these pictures on the beautiful sim of GREED. I photoed there because I was hunting comfy beach clothes at AMERIE, and realized that the sim was just plain lovely. It always has been, but it’s easier to notice on my husband’s wide monitor. Whee!

I’m also wearing face tattoos from Miss Shippe’s Studio, old ones, to gently poke her to make more. PLEEZ? More photos of GREED and credits behind the cut.

fD vest (1)

I love Collabor88, but then, who doesn’t? This fashionably Dead sleeveless vest is there, and a lot of other stuff for my to-buy list.

Also, has everybody else been hit with intense migraines this week due to the shifting in atmospheric pressure? I swear to god that my brain is between a rock and a swampy place this week, and two other people that I know suffered terrible migraines as well! I read up on them, and it seems that migraines happen when a lot of triggers collect and are tipped over by one major force. The only way to really avoid them is to know your triggers and live very purely. Sadly, for me, this means giving up coffee… and staring at bright computer screens, sigh. W/E, universe, I think I’ll just suffer the migraine.

And lest you think I’ve forgotten about SL travel, fear not! A few pictures from the Realm of Sevenwaters is behind the cut, and outfit credits too!

Artis Natur indeed

His house is in the village though

I’ve become addicted to the Destination Guide. My modus operandi is to open it up and click on the first listing that I see for each category, and I end up in some lovely and picturesque places. This one is called Artis Natur. Apparently (according to Helena Stringer) this sim was closed to the public and “invite-only” for a while. They must’ve opened it up, because some random dude tried to hit on me as soon as I got to the sim’s teleport hub. At least, I think he was hitting on me, it was something like “Heeeey [Russian characters]”. Maybe he was simply asking the time?

Anyway Artis Natur is a fine place to sport my new sundress from GATO (at The Dressing Room) and antlers form Schadenfreude. Happy exploring!  You can go visit the sim here.

Peace, love, and purple skins

Sometimes Second Life is Shakespearean stuff, but when it’s best, it allows me to have a peaceful and meditative place inside of myself. I love walking around on beautiful-interesting-evocative sims and soaking up the mood of the person who created it. I love looking like a purple spotted demon because of someone else’s vision. SLife’s good, even when you find out that half the men are women and vice-versa.

Walkin'

Hello! It’s amazing how well the PRETENSE ESCAPE poses (meant for a bag hold) work with my big old staff. I’ve been trying my best to bust out of my shell in Second Life of late, visiting new sims and wandering like I used to do in my Second Youth. I’ve really enjoyed stalking Julliette Bergan’s photostream for this, which is how I stumbled upon Sea Salt, the sim where my avatar’s wandering.

Funny story. I teleported into the sim, flew a bit and found a nice place, and then the PLUMBER CAME. The real life one, Second Life is blissfully free of plumbers (except in, you know, THOSE sims). So I idled for a good fifteen minutes, only to return and realize that I’d totally interrupted a sweet tete-a-tete by two lovers lying not ten fake feet away from me. Oops. Whoever you were, sorry, I wasn’t standing around staring at you two sexting, I promise!

Also, if you wanna see more of this pose set, please click this way.

Stay

All along it was a fever
A cold sweat hot-headed believer
I threw my hands in the air, said, “Show me something,”
He said, “If you dare come a little closer.”

Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now tell me now tell me now tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can’t live without you.
It takes me all the way.
I want you to stay

TheBrokenOne_0033

It’s not much of a life you’re living
It’s not just something you take – it’s given

Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now tell me now tell me now tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can’t live without you.
It takes me all the way.
I want you to stay. Continue reading

E is for Eellogofusciouhipoppokunurious (Thanks, Arora!)

may18_002

I noticed when doing my credits for this post that I have two “E” items which had me asking plurk for more. . The first is this cute leather mini from E! (see the exclamation point) which is Eclectic Apparel, the work of Eclectic Wingtips. It comes with a hud that allows you to change the metal findings from gold to silver to black and back. You also can change the upper “belt/sash” portion with several color and print options. It’s sassy and short and just the perfect choice for the new ruffled top from La Penderie de Nicole, which also comes with options, including black with several choices in contrast ruffle lining.  Continue reading

May16_005

I am just home from a long day at the hospital for some tests, so this will be short and sweet. The dress is a gorgeous easily draped long shift with an easy bateau neckline. By Nylon Pinkney of Nylon Outfitters, it can be found at this month’s Collabor88. It comes in this sunshine yellow or a rainy blue – both lovely abstract prints that are works of art.
