I am pretty sure most of you will have heard that Angelina Jolie had a prophylactic double mastectomy and wrote about her decision in the New York Times today. It took courage to share her medical history, but she did it in hopes that more women might have the knowledge they need to avoid breast cancer. Sadly, at the moment the genes for that diagnosis are owned by one company which charges a prohibitive and highly inflated fee for the genetic test. The Supreme Court has the opportunity to remedy that soon, but who knows what they will do. This does relate to my photos because the hair from Exile reminds me of Jolie.

Lots of goodness today. First and foremost, the first post from the newest addition to the It’s Only Fashion family.
Welcome to It’s Only Fashion, Mouse!
- Models Work Out: Wicca Merlin shares how she keeps her girlish figure. Not content to fiddle with sliders, she works hard to keep herself in trim.
- My Alt Is Just Somebody I Know In Second Life: Honour McMillan notes that she has a different connection with her alt than with her main avatar. I bet that is true for a lot of people. She highlights Miniascape sim, which looks like its designed to be photographed over and over and over.
- Harper Beresford: Harper is featured at Connecting 365 SL Lives and writes about SL and partnership in SL, though not the romantic kind.
- Designing Worlds Episode 197: Server Side Baking and Materials: Saffia Widdershins and Elrik Merlin interview the Linden design teams who have been working on SSB and materials changes about how they will affect user and designer experience. The techs show samples of materials and it’s awe-inspiring.
- Champagne – I love Gogo’s new blog post – sitting in a tree. But she’s not sitting with anyone, so there’s no K-I-S-S-I-N-G which means no love, marriage or baby carriage. Awwwww, poor Gogo!
May Flowers
Those April showers have brought May flowers, which you can clearly see in the closeup of the jewelry I am wearing today, but first let’s enjoy the lovely ombre skirt from Boom that is aptly named Horizon – a nod to its bands of color. The camisole top I am wearing with it is another from Kunglers recent release of casual separates.
I love the pose – one of many I use time and again from Adorkable. I am heartbroken that Adorkable is closing. I love the mirrored poses and the simplicity and grace of her poses. However her poses will still be on marketplace, so I will keep on using them. Meanwhile, she is having a 50% of closing sale – so get thee hence.
Sometimes I Feel

The lovely button-front shirt is from Kunglers. The jeans are from The Plastik, they come in more colors and prints than I can count. I suppose the lyric is maudlin, but Mother’s Day is a hard day for me. I miss her every day, but some days are harder than others.

There is so much goodness today, I had more than five picks before I even opened up the feeds. So, for great pictures, great styling and generally great posts, let’s get started.
- Memory Bliss – Sophee Mojo just blows my mind with this post. If you don’t scroll down to see her head shot, I will punish you. The composition is masterful, from the ess-curve made with her head, neck and shoulders, her use of the golden ratio and the rule of threes with those bright pops of red. I am in love with this photo. Continue reading
Float Like A Butterfly
Can anyone wear yellow and black and not have at least a passing thought of bees? While this dress from Les Petits Details is far too lovely to sting like a bee, it does float beautifully. Combining system layers, mesh and sculpts, it was designed to cleverly take advantage of each element of clothing manufacture. Continue reading

There’s a solar eclipse happening right now, you can watch it here. And coming out of the eclipse of depression, Allie of Hyperbole and a Half has a new post – the first in many months. While I do not suffer from depression, my late brother-in-law did. Her story explains it so well, something those of us on the outside need to understand. It is easy to offer platitudes and advice, but however well-meaning, they are hard to take. If you read nothing else, take some time for that post (As always, she writes with humor.) to get some insight on something I hope you never experience. Continue reading
Both Sides Now

Flowey has a fun and whimsical set of clouds at Collabor88 – rain or shine – Flutter Memel looks at clouds from Both Sides Now.
Bows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

Happy Hump Day! By now most of you have already clicked through the new Terms of Service. Some of you may have even read it. For a good explanation of why it may have been necessary, check out this post from Vaki Zenovka: Linden Lab’s New TOS, the Bank Secrecy Act, and You.
Swing Swing Swing
I love jackets. I am always on the hunt for a good jacket that will work with other mesh items that have not been made as part of a set. While browsing through Marketplace, I came across this wonderful houndstooth swing jacket from Legal Insanity and knew I had to have it. I know it would be wearable with other mesh. I did have to go one size larger so that the shirt would not poke through in the back, but I didn’t need to add the alpha to get it to work. This jacket has an array of stunning details such as the black and white edging that outlines the entire jacket and the collar. The single black button keeps it together while letting it fall into the swing that gives it its name. The jacket comes in several solid colors, including many brights, but I love this classic houndstooth.
The top is from NYU and comes in several colors. It comes with the contrasting bow and has such beautiful classic style. I added the fun high-waisted mini from Maitreya in white, keeping myself to a monochromatic scheme. Continue reading
