Did I mention that Ava and Barbara Kungler frequently take their inspiration from their native Brazil, drawing color, form and substance from the flora and fauna. This gown from their fall collection released at Modavia Fashion Week yesterday is a perfect example of that. Using a bird and foliage print could so very easily look old-fashioned and kitsch, but not with the modern sensibility of Kunglers.

Modavia Fashion Week 2011.004
One of the reasons I love Kunglers is their use of bold prints and the way they incorporate the organic inspirations of their Brazil into their designs. Their fall collection for Modavia Fashion Week is true to their history while remaining fresh by incorporating new silhouettes. It’s a fabulous collection of separates and signature pieces such as this stunning coat – which I wore as a coat dress. While this is gold, not green the color of hope, for some reason it made me think of a favorite song a former colleague used to play a lot – Spyro Gyro by Jorge Ben Jor. I think it is the vegetal inspiration that brought zygotes and gametes to mind.

Continuing with the funk meets fashion collection from Bliss Couture, I have fabulously stylized low-rise denim jeans with bell bottoms so side you can hide the 1970’s in them. Add the puffy fake fur jacket and gauntlets and you can hide a good share of the 60’s as well. She’s giving us more of what we’re funking for.
So wide can’t get around it
So low you can’t get under it.
One nation under a groove.

The Bliss Couture collection is a fabulous mix of separates to mix and match. I said before, it’s a great combination of fashion and funk. There’s lots of exposure in this collection but “Funk not only moves, it can re-move.”
The desired effect is what you get
When you improve your Interplanetary Funksmanship.
Modavia Fashion Week 2011.01
Modavia Fashion Week is up and running and the best design houses in Second Life® are releasing their fall collections and we fashionistas are eagerly awaiting each new release as they come out. I want to highlight the wonderful releases from Bliss Couture this fall. They are a winning combination of high fashion and funk.
You’ve got a real type of thing going down, gettin’ down
There’s a whole lot of rhythm going round
Ow, we want the funk. Give up the funk.
Ow, we need the funk. We gotta have that funk.
Fashion Week
In First Life® there are hundreds of Fashion Weeks around the world, though the top four in New York, London, Paris and Milan dominate the fashion world. In Second Life®, there are countless fairs, expos, and fashion weeks, and the most riveting and dynamic is Modavia Fashion Week. Modavia Fashion Week runs concurrently with New York Fashion Week and oddly enough, my avatar was invited to both. Question: when an avatar is invited to a First Life event, can her typist go? Well, it’s not possible for me to go to New York, though I will watch on YouTube® but I can go to Modavia’s Fashion Week and I surely will. If you miss any of the Modavia Fashion Week, you can catch up with photos of the runway shows on their Flickr.
I have attended before and was blown away by the fabulous organization and professionalism that brought runway show after runway show in on time and with minimal fuss. They have 49 shows to produce in just 8 days, but I am confident that they will be on time and as near to flawless as computers, servers and isp’s will allow. I know that the fashion will be fun and exciting as creating a collection for Modavia Fashion Week inspires designers to be adventurous. I have no idea what’s in store, but I know it will be good.

Renewal
Good art looks new because the artist has recombined something old to make something better. (Darby Bannard)
Mami Jewell’s main store, Azul, was closed for for a few weeks in August while she rebuilt her store. Celebrating the reopening of her store with its new look, Mami applied this aphorism quite literally to her work. She has created 45 limited release gowns from her collection in special colors that will be available only during the month of September. This is Dailey, one of the new, limited release color gowns.
I love the gorgeous rosy-mauve coloring in this dress. It’s so lovely against my skin and when overlaid by the yards of black lace, it’s stunning. The asymmetrical bodice is so lovely and elevates the dress to a new level.
Making Your Own Child's AO

Gidge’s SL daughter, Hatchy Mills, made an adorable child’s Animation Override at a very low cost. With the popularity of children’s avatars growing, there is a need for children’s AO that produce the naive, unaffected and innocent movements and stances of children. While a child at Hogwarts would need something more sedate than this one, there’s nothing to stop you from making your own AO at little cost.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Story has it that Pauline Kael, the late great film critic, was in Italy where she saw a poster for a James Bond film with the title “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and she quipped “Those words are perhaps the briefest statement imaginable of the basic appeal of movies” They were also the title of one of her books and later of a a film noir send up with Robert Downey, Jr. and Val Kilmer. In Second Life, though, it’s a clothing store – one with fun clothing at amazing prices. My bright yellow dress is from KKBB and was only three lindens. It comes in several colors, but I loved the yellow – a bright yellow in default lighting.

This post had a title but I lost it. I thought it might have fallen in the water in Mexico Distrito Federal, but I didn’t see it floating around down there and I certainly am not jumping in the water.
