I love dots.. can you tell?
I went shopping at My Attic @ The Deck (May 21st – May 31st) yesterday and when I saw these adorable shoes from Pure Poison and this cute dress from DCNY I just had to have it!  The cute peek-a-boo midriff is just adorable!

Fashion + Art = FashionArt

0520_002

One of the great pleasures of being a fashionista is seeking how creators can take a single inspiration concept and run in a hundred different directions. Take the Fashionart Fair from Glamourist PR – asking creators to find the nexus of art and fashion. And the result – everything from the avant garde to the regal formality and all stops in between. One of those stops is where fashion meets op art – such as this dress by cae.b.

Awash In Color

0518_004

You can count on Kunglers for bold and modern styling with a strong foundation in organic textures and colors. However, sourcing from nature has never limited them to earth tones because nature is awash in color – as is this fabulously floral dress they just released. They released six versions of the Chris dress and this seemed perfect for a sunny spring day.  Continue reading

Curly Locks of Doom

BlueBlood is at the World Goth Fair and has put out some adorable shift dresses with a macabre theme, as you’d expect.  They’re a fun and easy slip on for when you’re considering your mortality, or others, but still want to be cute.

For only 50L a pull there is no BAD color to pick up, but I pulled on the red color today to wear while I am out shopping.

I also can’t stop loving these cat eye glasses from YUMMY.  Gidge might wear glasses now.

The Elie dress from Sundaara for fashionart – a celebration of the nexus of art and fashion – is as sweet and lovely as a summer cloud.

I just noticed that Akismet has protected us from 1,671,953 spam comments so far since we migrated over here about two years ago. 1,671,953! Imagine that. Such a big number It reminds me of my 7th and 8th grade math teacher, a vicious and physically abusive bully I still hate to this day even though he reserved most of his physical abuse for the boys. Before Christmas vacation, he challenged one of my classmates to write out from one to a million in long hand – telling him if he completed it by the end of the school year, he would pay him $1000. Of course, Phillip had no concept of how much a million really was, so he tried. He wrote out the numbers day in and day out for months, neglecting his homework, not paying attention in class, getting in trouble at home and on the wrestling team and generally making a mess of his 7th grade year. All seeking that $1000 and realizing far too late and after far too much damage to his school year that he would never make it. A million is a vast sum in human terms and we all certainly learned that lesson quite thoroughly though at the cost of a classmate’s education and reputation. Continue reading

What color is fire?

0515_003

What color is fire? It’s not just orange, it’s also red, black, yellow, blue, purple and even green. That is if you watch it and really look at the colors leap and flicker and shift as it gets more or less oxygen and rises hotter or burns lower. I know this dress from Snowpaws is awash in florals, but it reminds me of fire – perhaps flowers on fire.

Just Another Reason To Get My Pink Kitchen Out

I’ve changed kitchen colors so many times, but the pink TROMPE LOEIL Retro Kitchen keeps sucking me back in. I have to admit, despite the amazing other colors, and the different kitchens that exist, the styling and the color of this lovely pink kitchen always cause me to bring it back out.

When I got dressed this morning in my new dress from Milk Motion I knew the color was familiar – and yep, gorgeous just like my kitchen. It was meant to be. Continue reading

I am ready to bop in these delightful flats from Ingenue. They’re from a few months back, but still as chic as ever.

Oh, bop-a-lena, bop-a-lena, yeah she’s my gal
She’s my gal and I love her so

Rockabilly Picnic

0511_004

Who does not love the Rockabilly theme that Collabor88 is featuring for May? And to show how perfect Lark’s inclusion of a picnic basket, we have The Fulminators rocking with Teddy Boy’s Picnic. In honor of the theme, I will be playing a rockabilly set at The Velvet tonight from 5 to 7 SLT, mixing classic rockabilly artists like Wanda Jackson with neo-rockabilly singers like Imelda May and J.D. McPherson. I hope you will come and come dressed to the rockabilly nines. Continue reading

Be Afraid

0510_002

Alexander McQueen once said he wanted people to be afraid of the women he dresses. I thought of him when I put this dress on. McQueen was one of those who brought panniers back into fashion. He also designed cage skirts, though nothing like this one from Datrip Blackbart of Legal Insanity. The panniers do create an imposing silhouette. Add that to the almost gladiator-like design from Blackbart and you have reason to be afraid, to be very afraid. Afraid that if you don’t get down to FASHIONART, the fabulous fair celebrating the fusion of art and fashion that opened this morning, you will miss out.

0510_004

I am in love with the attention to detail. Look at the tiny bows where the pannier meets the dress, the piping under the bodice and the embellishment along the edge of the center panel. It is all exquisite detail that sets this dress apart. IT comes in several colors and prints include a punk version that I love just as much as this one. Continue reading
