It was cold when I got dressed

"I have always believed that fashion was not made only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence." YSL

Does the weather in your first life influence how you dress in Second Life®? It sure does for me. And I know that’s crazy, but it still does. However, I dressed in the chilly pre-dawn when it as 45° and now it’s 79° and I am melting. Why does a jacket on my avatar make me feel warmer in my first life? How silly is that?

I really wanted to wear this Edwardian Jacket from The Annex, though because of the cold I opted for a different approach than the ruffled hot pants that are designed to go with it. Besides, I wanted to show you how flexible it is.

Going Green in Blue

And then the light came in

Collabor88 celebrates spring by going green. A Tough of Green is the theme this month, but you know those sneaky designers, they always go above and beyond and add all sorts of glorious colors for us. This top from The Secret Store comes in umpteen colors, almost as many as the pants from Addams.

And then the light came in

And if you don’t know how many umpteen is, there’s no hope for you.

A Happy Squeaky Wheel

Snapshot_006

I think if Hart Larsson of PXL Creations got 10 lindens every time I say, please make Lelutka Head appliers, he could buy a car. An SL car at the very least. But squeaky wheels get greased and lo and behold, so do squeaky mesh heads. It will be available at We ♥ Role-play until the end of April. The dress is floral confection from The Annex for A Secret Affair.

Snapshot_002

I relaxed for a bit outside the converted dovecote from Scarlet Creative where I have been living this last month. The furnishings are all to be found at Collabor88 and you better go rickety-split because I think tomorrow is your last chance before you will have to run from store to store. Items are from Aria & The Loft, Second Spaces, Soy and Scarlet Creative.

Let’s Kiss

I’m in studio today for a little more formal fashiony times, and I love finding a nice prop that I forgot about. I am using this pretty little stool from Zaara from an older Arcade release (I think) and it’s got a couple of nice clean sits in it.

This dress is still available at Collabor88 before they shut down to reset – and it’s a really cute clubby dress or summer poolside dress.  Thanks to it’s helpful hud I was able to get a near perfect match to my new shoes from Livalle.  Continue reading

The Straps And Hooks Of The Past

There is a value in an undergarment of the foundation variety. The smooth what needs smoothed, they round which one desires rounded. They lift, they separate, they accentuate our assets in ways pleasing to the eye and touch. Continue reading

Lelutka Appliers from PXL Creations…FINALLY

PXL Creations has released appliers for the Lelutka Mesh head and all of us old time PXL girls just let up a whooop because we have waited a long time. HEIDI will be released tomorrow at We <3 Roleplay.

This skin is available in Sunkissed, Natural and Pale – I’m wearing natural. I’ve been thinking about getting a tan for the summer – what do you think? Should I move into sunkissed for the summer? Maybe I will.

There are several brow tones available with this release from BLACK to no brows if you have an applier from somewhere else (do those exist? I don’t even know). Also four lipsticks plus a no lipstick option (top left photo is no lipstick). Continue reading

The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep.

“The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep”

The post title, “The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep” is a small quote from A Strangeness in My Mind, the newest book by Orhan Pamuk that I just finished reading a few days ago. My review, which i linked, explains why that writer means so much to me. I loved his imagery and that influenced how I fiddled with the windlight™ settings to suggest that dark and deep sea.

“The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep”

This month’s Collabor88 is all about espionage, but the spywear is flexible as you can see in this outfit that is happily as comfortable on a tightrope in the sea as it would be in a hidden lair of Dr. Evil.

The Perfect Red

"All my life I've pursued the perfect red." —Diana Vreeland

Diana Vreeland once said she spent her entire life in search of the perfect red. She should have started at Sascha’s Designs where Sascha Fragelli has captured the perfect red in her Lush Red Dress for The Instruments from February 11th through the 25th. The dress comes with its own jewelry, heart-shaped hat and white boa, but I decided to go in another direction with Lelutka’s bolero in purple (it was a Christmas group gift). Something about red and purple is so lush and wild.

A Road Trip

“A relationship is like a road trip: You get bugs splattered on the windshield. By the time you see them, it’s too late, but you still keep going.”

“A relationship is like a road trip: You get bugs splattered on the windshield. By the time you see them, it’s too late, but you still keep going.”

Welcome to Braggsville by T. Geronimo Johnson

I love this quote from the book I just finished reading, Welcome to Braggsville. It has the virtue of being funny and true. Like a road trip, you don’t always know the destination in a relationship, you surely do not know what you will encounter and a few bugs will get splattered on the way. And of course, you usually keep going, though maybe sometimes you should take the off-ramp.

Without looking back

Without looking back

At LEA27, there is a new installation called The City that opened on January 31st. Ziki Questi did a great post about it here.

Without looking back

I love its stark minimalist approach. It is a place to play with light and shadow.

Without looking back

It also seems a wonderful place to highlight the extraordinary elegance of Zaara’s Thalia dress. Thalia is the Greek muse of laughter and the dress has clear Greco-Roman inspiration in its draping. I had to ask Zaara if it was named after Thalia Heckroth™ and she confirmed. I have a friend in my first life named Thalia, too, and sometimes I think they are the best evidence of names being destiny because they both have a joyful laugh and both are animated by injustice to act.
