Spotify Me!

1111_004

For DJ’ing last night, i wore this casual sweater from The Secret Store with some pants from Baiastice.

Sasy Scarborough suggested some time ago that I share my DJ playlists on Spotify so folks can listen even if they can’t come to my set. I set up an account and hope you will follow me. I shared a playlist with Gidge and she confessed that Spotify was too complicated, so I thought I would do a Spotify tutorial.

Beige Patent Pumps Just Like Kate

I heard a radio show shortly before the Royal Wedding, talking about beige patent pumps. Beige patent pumps are apparently everything. Kate Middleton had been seeing wearing them at appearances, suddenly you had to have them. The morning shopping guide on the radio show (because this is now a thing apparently) went through and told us what brand Kate was wearing and since we obviously can’t afford those (commoners) told us where to get them priced in our (commoner) price range.

Luckily for us pixel girls, LVLE has come out with a gorgeous pair of beige pumps that fit the bill with gorgeous texturing that subtly shines.  We might not get to marry a prince, but we’ve got cute shoes so really, that’s probably good enough.

Pixel princes are a dime a dozen anyway, girls. Continue reading

I Was Enchanted

oct31_004

I went shopping at Enchantment, the big new fairy-tale event that opened this morning. Of course, since I was shopping, I was not wearing any of the items, but I did pick up a few that you will soon see. I just wanted to share my observation that the sim design and execution for this event was pretty wonderful. I loved that the vendors were so unique and idiosyncratic. There was no uniformity which meant it was visually interesting all the time – even when the products were not to my taste. Though of course, far more was to my taste than was not. I spent more than I should have – but that is how events work. They beguile your eyes and enchant your hearts and put a open spell on your wallets.

I wore this gorgeous coat and capelet from Kunglers. It has the warmth and comfort for shopping outdoors – which is where Enchantment is. You will have to explore, not everything is laid out in a straightforward path like most events. Snow drifts and trees obscure parts of the build, giving you beautiful settings that reveal bit by bit the enchanting items for sale. It’s beautifully done and worth exploring right to the top of the mountain.

I Come In Your Nightmares

Miamai has again released an evening gown that is as elegant as it is amazing. Rich with movement and textured deliciously, this would be an amazing evening gown for any formal event for the upcoming social season.

Its just so happens that she also released some devil horns hair for Halloween, and I thought PERFECT.

Careful How You Sit

oct26_003

So I am always a bit conflicted about studded clothing. Mainly because I have never worn studded clothing in my life, so I wonder how comfortable it is. Take this dress. I love the way the studs add visual interest, the flat planes of the skirt interrupted by the rows of studs – adding what feels like another dimension to the dress. But then I wonder, what does that feel like to sit on? Is it evenly spread enough so that it’s sort of like the bed of nails phenomenon, or do those little studs poke and prod? Maybe if you sit for just a minute it’s comfortable, but if you sit for a long time it is excruciating? Yeah, I actually spend time wondering what it would feel like for my pixel posterior to sit in my pixel dress with its pixel studs. But hey, it’s a great dress, isn’t it?

Risen

I spent at least an hour flipping through marketplace looking for a Halloween costume. It just seemed, I don’t know, too easy to buy a mesh avatar and call it my Halloween costume. I’m not sure why. I will probably end up buying one, because I can never settle on ONE costume.  But this morning I thought WHY NOT MAKE ONE! Continue reading

Feeling Tweedy

oct24_002

The weather is getting cooler. Spending hours waiting for Tri-Met yesterday, I could have used this outfit, so comfy, so cozy, so very chic. With a very modern silhouette, the tweed pants outfit from The Annex is a Fall/Winter stunner.

oct24_008

The top is a coat-length tweed that mixes two very different tweeds for dramatic effect. That big, bold tweed on the sleeves would never work over the entire body, but as an accent on the sleeves, it is fabulous.

Autumn is My Favorite Season

oct22_004

Autumn is always the best season of the year back in Minnesota. Spring was wet and muddy, summer hot and muddy and winter dry and frigid. But the autumn, the weather was perfect – dry and sunny days, perfectly cool and fresh. The brilliance of the leaves changing, the birches to yellow, the sumac a rich burgundy, the maples a fiery orange and the basswood a deep mustard. This riot of color would play against the deep greens of the pines and the firs, a rich patchwork of dark and bright colors that, for me, was always the most beautiful palette of the year.

This dress from Kunglers calls that fall palette to mind – the flashes of leaves among the Norway Pine and Black Spruce with the golden tamarack and burgundy sumac and the olivine hemlock. Just looking at it makes me feel a little homesick for where I grew up.

Cozy Chic

oct15_005

Warmth, comfort and coziness can be chic. In fact, the can be non plus ultra chic. Exhibit Number One, the Marigold coat from SLink. A camel hair coat with a shearling collar can easily be shapeless, but this coat has the requisite bulk for warmth while retaining a figure-hugging tailoring that flatters. The belt detail is gorgeous and gives the coat a feminine touch as do the slightly belled sleeves. I am wearing this with a great tweed pencil skirt from Baiastice as vibrant and lovely a maple leaves on a sunny autumn day.

oct15_007

I always recommend the multipak option with SLink products because they are not just fat packs. Rather than buying eight coats, you get a color-change hud that lets you mix and match the combinations of colors. For example, this shearling color could have been dyed all sorts of different colors. I went for the natural look, but it could have been blue. The belt could have been blue, too. Or the buttons. Or they could have been cranberry or one of the many color choices offered. This kind of multi-pak is so much more than just a fat pack.
