There are less than 12 hours left to explore, shop and spread joy to shoeless people around the world because Shoetopia closes at midnight. Remember, you are not only buying gorgeous shoes, but you are also helping raise money for Soles4Souls – an international effort to shod the shoeless. When you and I want a new pair of shoes, we want it for reasons of style, fashion or sport, but there are children who want shoes so they can go to school, so they can avoid hookworm parasites and deadly infections and injuries. Shoes for them are not a fashion statement, but a lifeline. So before time runs short, go to Shoetopia and shop, shop, shop.

Shoe Art at Shoetopia on the Last Day.
Shoes like these from BSD Design Studio are not for the faint of heart, but for the daring. They are works of art – as surely as anything in a gallery space. In fact, they deserve galley space. These are from BSD Design Studio where you can always find bold, innovative haute fashion designs. Since the advent of Gos auto-tinting and Slink appliers, I have become spoiled and resist having to tint feet, but it was worth the bother to put these lovely shoes on.

Thankfulness

There are some great pieces that can be mixed and matched at Collabor88. The top from Aux works brilliantly with the pants from Baiastice for example. I just had to wear one size smaller pant to make sure there were no stray spots bumping through in the back.
Despite the false mythology of our first Thanksgiving and the martial origins of the official Thanksgiving holiday, Thanksgiving remains one of my favorite holidays. I acknowledge that sordid history, but I love that we have a holiday that is not about anything more than gathering with friends and family to focus with gratitude on the richness and plenitude of our lives. It’s unfortunate that it’s been invade by retail commercialism and ever-more-desperate consumerism, but that is on us. We allow it. And we can bring the holiday back to food, family and thankfulness if we care enough.
I am thankful for many things in my life, but for this post, I want to focus on those things that make me thankful in my Second Life®. First and foremost, I am thankful that Second Life exists and for its culture of creativity, liberality and freedom that allows people to express themselves as they wish to – as people, birds, horses, monsters, cats, dragons and even oscillating balls of light. I am thankful that Linden Lab and Philip Rosedale had that brilliant insight that the users could be allowed to make the world and it could be interesting. I am thankful that LL keeps advancing adding new ways to make our world more beautiful, from Windlight to mesh to materials to whatever comes next, our world evolves and because more beautiful all the time.

Space and Time and Shoes

Shoetopia will be ending this weekend. When I logged on earlier today it was easy to get in, so if you have been waiting for it to slow down, now is your chance. Certainly one of the can’t miss items at Shoetopia are these amazing shoes from League. I love the rich texture and the beautiful details that are the quintessential League elements. League designs with a verisimilitude I love -the shoes are not too glossy, the metal is not too shiny. There’s little wrinkles around the curves and t-strap that show they have been worn a few times. That buckle embellishment on the back is such a great addition. I love every single thing about these shoes.
So on Monday I did a set at The Velvet in celebration of the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special. For fellow Whovians, it was a delight, full of the kind of wit, warmth and good fun we expect from the series – all with the fate of the world in balance. I thought I would share since there is a fair amount of SL – Whovian overlap.

Meanwhile, I am still madly in love with the apothecary cabinet from Schadenfreuda for November’s Collabor88. I may pose with it forever.

Too Much To Do
I am wearing a lovely dress from Girl Tuesday, a new clothing store. White the white yoke and accompanying black tie remain the same, the main part of the dress comes in several colors. I like the lines and the design sensibility. The tie that came with it is not for me, it lays too straight to look natural, so I opted to wear it without the tie. The dress comes with both a tie and no/tie option though I think the no/tie option is supposed to be worn with the prim tie. No matter, I decided to add a scarf. I also added a jacket because “Baby, it’s cold outside” – far too cold for sleeveless.
So I Took a Nap and the Day Disappeared
I took a little nap today and the entire day disappeared in a puff of pillows and blankets and dreams. Not that I remember the dreams, but I assume they happened. I probably dreamt about shoes thanks to the cornucopia of shoes from Shoetopia which reminds be of the great song from Paolo Nutini, Matthew Benbrook and Jim Duguid:
Woke up cold one Tuesday
I’m looking tired and feeling quite sick
I felt like there was something missing
In my day to day life
So I quickly opened the wardrobe
Pulled out some jeans and a T-Shirt that seemed clean
Topped it off with a pair of old shoes
That were ripped around the seams
And I thought these shoes just don’t suit me
Hey, I put some new shoes on
And suddenly everything’s right
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on
And everybody’s smiling, it’s so inviting
Oh, short on money but long on time
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine
And I’m running late and I don’t need an excuse
‘Cause I’m wearing my brand new shoes
Early Morning Bloggery
I woke up at 4:30 this morning. Why? Because my cat decided it was time for me to wake up and he knows exactly how to make that happen. He sits right on my chest with his paws on my throat and starts rubbing his nose on my nose. Of course, it’s the cutting off my air supply, not the cat kisses that wake me up. It works every time.
So I took some pictures hanging out at my house over by Gidge’s place. I was still tired so I laid down on the couch. Sideways, though, so Oscar could not cut off the air supply again.
Now he lays on the floor looking all innocent, “Who me?” but I know very well what he is capable of.
Busy Pixel Life

I had a busy morning and afternoon, but nothing some fuel couldn’t help me power through. I had to pay the rent and then run off to do some shopping. Pixel Food should just magically appear don’t you think?
Luckily I know a great meat market.

I picked up new heels from LaRoo at Shoetopia and they’re adorable. They’ve got an easy skin matching system, puts me in mine of how GOS does it with a database. The match for me was fast and easy. The shoes were comfortable and cute for my daily shopping trip and perfect for entertaining. They dress up or down perfectly with their Mary Jane inspired styling. Continue reading
Wascally Wools
Gidge loves to show off her house and I love her posts showing her pixel life. I thought I might give you just a little peek into my house, too. I just redecorated a bit with some of the new items from this month’s Collabor88, including a magnificent chest and mannequin from Apple Fall, that Eiffel Marquee from floorplan. that I am obsessed with and a new bed from Pilot.
Slink Goes to New Heights

Shoe addicts have a new drug thanks to Siddean Munro of Slink. Her flat and medium bare feet have conquered the grid, enabling shoe-makers to focus on making shoes while skin-makers bring their expertise to create appliers matching feet to their specific skins. It was a great innovation that has enhanced everyone’s style, but now Siddean takes it to new heights with her high bare feet. Shoe-makers whose focus has been on high stilettos can now join the party of folks doing what they do best – making shoes.
Fittingly, she is releasing these new higher bare feet at Shoetopia, the fabulous celebration of everything footly. Shoetopia is fundraising expo of shoes, socks and feet hoping to raise funds to support Soles4Souls, a charity that gives shoes to the shoeless around the world and also supports micro-enterprises in developing countries by allowing people to sell used shoes and earn a living.
SLink is also releasing three pairs of shoes for the high feet at Shoetopia. This is Hera, a sinuous stiletto with beautiful curving lines that enwrap the foot. I love how the natural flow of leather seems simply to be about curves as though securing the shoe is incidental – a lovely trick of engineering.
My dress is from Mea Culpa. I love the gorgeous print and the extravagant stargazer lilies on the shoulder and hips. The rich gold and deep burgundy are gorgeous colors for fall. In particular, I love how the sweep of the gold lines in the dress remind me of the sweeping curves of the shoes.
The glorious colors of the dress inspired me to go out leaf-peeping at Seni Seviyorum. It’s gorgeous and so many lovely spots for taking pictures.
