Bandana Day 2012 – from Gidge

As Cajsa so eloquently put it, Hair Fair culminates today  in us taking off our hair to celebrate the beauty inside of us all.  Our hair is a mane that speaks to the world before we open our mouths, but how much more important is our character and person than that? A thousandfold.

It’s why I am ecstatic every year when Hair Fair occurs. Not because we love hair (we do). But because it’s about something bigger and more important than our hair do’s and blogger selves.

I want to thank Sasy Scarborough and her amazing team for once again putting on an event to be proud of, an event that speaks to us all and shows us that real beauty is more than the sum of our parts.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair.
~ Audrey Hepburn

Yukata Have Friends

Cajsa IMd me and said she knew I was going to love the hair at Hair Fair from Curious Kitties especially with all the crazy options on the HUD. She was right, I was in a dither playing but decided to show you this traditional up do with a modern flair right out of the box, because it’s my favorite color of green. Continue reading

The Truth about Vonda

One of my goals every year at Hair Fair is to find a new to me creator, and fall in love. This has happened every year without fail, and this year I found that it was GOTZSCHE that is in the running as one of my new loves, even though I’ve only complete two sims so far.

In a little modest booth with 3-4 styles, this little shop might be easy to pass by but I recommend you don’t.  I have a very strict routine at Hair Fair, I go into EVERY SINGLE BOOTH. Unless the sky parts and I scream KILL IT WITH FIRE I tend to demo something from every place. Normally I do this on blogger day, but I was having surgery that day this year, so it’s taking me a wee bit longer to get through.

Their style that grabbed at me at GOTZSCHE though – was named after one of the looming ghosts from my childhood – VONDA. Continue reading

A Blonde Arrives In NY

I have a love/hate relationship with hotels. They’re so crisp and clean (if you stay at a nice one). They’re places for peace, and space, and relaxing. Usually, I’m in one because of recreation but this time it’s for work. I’ll be away from my love and family for days. Continue reading

So If You’re Free…

Vaki, If You Are Free...

I heard on plurk today that there was a Fibromyalgia Fair going on and thought I had a bit of free time and should check it out. I was really pleasantly surprised, it’s a totally CUTE little fair with VERY NICE items for sale from creators I had heard of.

Basically, that’s a win to me. Also, for those of you who like a fun freebie, there were freebies at every station and many are cute and worth having. Continue reading

Oceans Apart

There is nothing I like more than seeing a picture on a blog that makes me go OMG I MUST HAVE THIS! Which is exactly how I felt seeing the Lana dress on Cajsa the other day. It’s a mesh release from Baiastice and it is in fact probably one of my favorite mesh dress releases with it’s vintage swagger and fun colors. Continue reading

One Step Closer

One Step Closer

I am a little late to the party of celebrating the Fashion For Life Event but my ardor is no less because this is truly one of my favorite things to support in both lives.  Everyone’s life has been touched by cancer, some more than others and for all of us it’s a journey.

I thought since lots of people have shared I would tell you the story of my Uncle George, who cancer took away.

He was a confirmed old bachelor (nudge nudge wink wink) who lived his life pretty full as a young man. He went to Cuba to gamble, he worked at 20th Century Fox as a hair dresser during World War 2. When I was very little he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and told to say his farewells. Continue reading
