Don′t Miss Fashion For Life

150328_003

If you are anything like me, you wait a day or two for the fast frenzy of an event opening to slow down a bit. Then, distracted, you forget and start anticipating the next event which you will also defer attending for a day or two. Meanwhile, the first event continues and all of a sudden it is nearly over and you are this [ ] close to missing it. Well, you are that [ ] close to missing Fashion For Life. It ends tomorrow, so go today.

That is where I found this delightful sky blue pink dress from G. Field. It gets all the feminine details just right from the ruffles along the neckline to the softly puffed sleeves to the bow that ties in the back.  Add the cherry blossoms that fade into the blue of the sky and it’s just a dream of a dress.

There is no shopping guide this year, so it is a bit tricky to find specific stores. However, there is one way you can always find exactly what you want and exactly where to find it. Go the list of in-world items at Relay For Life’s web site. Here is the link to a database of all the vendors.  Select the type of item you are looking for. For example, I wanted to find Essenz shoes for Fashion For Life, so I selected Avatar Shoes and hit Go.  This brought up a list.

As you can see, the item name is there, I can mouseover for a picture, and it has info on the team and the price as well. The far left text is hyperlinked to a slur that will take you to the exact spot where you can find the item you want.

I’ve Got Sunshine On a Cloudy Day

Snapshot_008

Don’t you love it when the sun is bright and streams in through the windows creating an interplay of light and shadow in your home? I know cats love it as they shift to follow the light. I am more a shade person and will shift from the sunlight into the shade, but I still love to see the beams of light moving across my home.

My dress is a super-feminine lace dress from Gizza called Cara. It is very demure and feminine from the front, though there is a bit of a surprise from the back as you shall see.

I am relaxing in the living room from my new cottage by dust bunny that I picked up at The Arcade. Through the windows you can see the greenhouse as well. The side tables and the pitcher of baby’s breath and the book on the far table are all from the dust bunny collection at The Arcade. Scarlet Creative’s Amelie sofa seems made for this sweet little cake of a house. I changed the pictures in the frames from the DRD frames I got at December’s Arcade. I thought it might be fun to put in old family photos, so the pictures are of my grandmother, great grandfather, great-great-great grandfather, a family reunion in 1901 and other old family photos.

The Owls Have It

Emery released pencil skirts and sweaters at Collabor88 this month. Both are great separates for mixing and matching, but the pencil skirts in particular are investment pieces. They are beautifully crafted as you can see in the picture below where I am sitting and you can see that the interior is lined so there is no alpha messing up the picture.  Continue reading

Twin Peaks and Porn

The current round of COLLABOR88 has kicked off with an homage to one of my favorite stories – TWIN PEAKS. The actual name of the theme is MOONLESS NIGHT, and mood board hearkens to damn fine coffee and Laura Palmer’s compatriots.  Continue reading

A Blogger’s Work Is Not Begging

I started out my early morning shopping and usual blogger work a bit earlier than usual today. I think of blogging both as my SL Hobby and let’s face it, it’s also a bit of a job. Some people role play families, some people role play being a space pirate, some people role play being a cabbage for all I know. I guess that makes my role play in SL being a fashion blogger.  I love it, I love styling my pixel self, I love the choices and variety of fashion – I love that high heels NEVER NEVER NEVER hurt my feet. I love being perfect based on what I consider to be ideal. I love that genetics play no part in how pixel Gidge looks. Continue reading

Twinkling

It’s cold and rainy with possible ice incoming in RL so the only recipe to solve that sort of crisis is obviously to dress up in SL. I’m wearing a new release from Sacha’s designs that is so twinkly and glittery my video card can’t show it to you.  It reminds me of what it would look like if taffeta and sequins had a baby. I know that’s crazy, they aren’t even both fabrics! What do they have in common?  Continue reading

Resolutions and Regrets

Untitled

I have not made any New Year’s resolutions this year. I did not last year or the year before or any year that I can remember. It has never been part of our family tradition. Our family New Year’s was a day of family gathered together for feasting and fun. New Year’s Eve was never a drunkfest either. Instead, it was a day of housecleaning and food preparation. I have cleaned the over on New Year’s more times than I can count. It all comes from this idea of starting the year as you mean to go on − with a clean house and plenty of food and family to share it with. Of course, my family always served lutefisk for New Year’s dinner and that was most definitely not how I meant to go on.

SL Raw Shots

I asked on plurk if folks had regrets from 2014. Many people said they did not have any which is great for them. What I thought was most interesting is that several folks said they regretted that did not do something sooner. That means they did something that made things better for themselves and only wish they had done it earlier. That means that even their regrets come from a better place. I like those regrets. Actually, that is my big regret for the year. I wish i had put my cat Oscar on Xanax earlier, the first time the vet suggested it. I would have have saved a lot on laundry.

The Perils of Ponchos

122714_005

I don’t know about you, but for me, ponchos have always been problematic. I bought my first poncho in Spain – knit with thick, luxurious wool and closing at the neckline with gorgeous unvarnished wood buttons. It was so warm and cozy and it felt like wearing a blanket, which meant it really needed to be worn on cold days. So here’s the thing. In Minnesota, if it’s cold enough to wear that poncho, it’s too cold to wear that poncho. The wind would blow up underneath and chill me to the bone. An engineering flaw for cold weather. So every time I see ponchos, I think of my few attempts wearing my gorgeous poncho and remember those bone-chilling gusts of wind sneaking in underneath and think – nope, not for me.

What I needed was one more like this poncho from Zenith – to wear indoors kind of like a high fashion snuggle. But it’s Second Life and so even though there’s snow falling and the pond is frozen over, the winds that ruffle my hair are soft zephyrs carrying billowing warmth – not bone-chilling blasts from Polar Vortex.

Time To Get Back To Work

It was a lovely day and a half off but this Second Life isn’t going to live itself. I’m already resolved to stop eating so much junk and get back into my health avatar lifestyle.

See, I’ve got my half orange at the ready.  I am not going to eat that cake. No really. I’m not. Well, maybe a little. I mean I don’t have to completely live like an ascetic do I? Continue reading
