I am not the Queen of Everything, not even the Princess of Quite-A-Lot, but if I were, I might wear this gown – at least in the winter when it is cold. It might be a bit much on a hot, humid August afternoon. Do you ever wonder if those long ago aristocrats would feel twinges of envy for the peasants during the dog days of August, feeling every one of their layers of clothing and corsets and lacings?

JUMO has released an amazing gown. It’s an entire outfit, really, with shoes, jewelry and the works, but I like to mix and match and showcase different ways to wear things, so even though an outfit is lovely, I seldom wear it right out of the box. Part of the joy and purpose of blogging is showing how clothing is more versatile that it first appears, mixing it with other items as I have here – adding this jacket from Peqe, for example, mainly because I prefer a shrug or jacket over something strapless. That beautiful sideswept hair is from Wasabi Pills.
Wearing a ballgown can sometimes be a balancing act even when you are not on a tightrope. After all, the overall zeitgeist of SL fashion has become more informal with ever passing year. I don’t care, though, I love formal gowns – in my first and my second lives. Sadly I cannot afford so many in my first. This gown comes with several alternatives including the sheer lace attachment that covers its entirety as well as option flexi skirts that add fullness and flow to the skirt. They come in gold or a deep rose red.
The sheer lace overdress may be a bit polarizing. It does not bling, but there is some script I think that makes the texture seem to sparkle. I wore it this morning and got rave compliments on one hand, but also an IM asking if there was some glitch because “it looks like it’s tuned to a channel that has no reception. It’s off the air.” 
However, it is an add on, so it can be left off – which gives you an equally brilliant gown. That peacock is a pet, by the way and follows voice commands. I sent him to his perch so I quit knocking him in the head with my dress as he followed me about. He sat there and would occasionally fan his plumage. Such a lovely boy.
By the way, speaking of bird, do you not just love this flying bird ring from Swallow? It’s at The Arcade and not to be missed. Alaskametro released these new nails and I swear I could not have found a better complement to this gown if I had commissioned one to be made for it.

I am not really feeling that woe is me at the moment, but this pose in ant’s broken chair at May’s Collabor88 just seems to embody the melodramatic despair of some poor benighted Shakespearean unfortunate. Mesh dress, shoes, body, hands, feet, jewelry, hair and face. Yes, I am all meshed up. The dress is from Milk Motion for this month’s Collabor88. It comes in several pastel colors – fitting with this month’s theme. I love how asymmetry in the neckline echoes that of the skirt. I also adore the belt, enough that I wish it were sold separately to war with other items. I have one quibble, but it is rooted in Second Life limitations, not in poor construction. This dress has shoulder pads, as you can see. That gives it a great architectural look. Sadly, every long hair I tried to wear intersected with it. I normally prefer the shorter hair and updos anyway, because I love jewelry and want to see it. But, I also like having the option of long hair and that is a little difficult with these shoulders. Of course, one of those free-flowing manes would work.

Penumbra Spring Summer Fashion Week wraps up today, though the shops will remain open for the month. Today I am wearing a top and skirt by Glitter called Lauren. It comes with a HUD that allows you to pick six texture options for the top and the skirt. I went for the solid black top and the black skirt with a pinstripe inset. The top is very short and just barely covers the nipples, leaving the underside of the breasts bare. That’s not my preference, so I added a bodysuit from Sn@tch, using their applier for the Slink Physique so I did not have to worry about the Glitter top fitting over the Sn@tch top. Zanze has a large collection of fabulous outfits for Penumbra Spring Summer Fashion Week. My favorite is this Strathmere skirt and top. I love the loose, breezy easiness and the bold, bright colors.

Sonatta Morales has five special releases for Penumbra Spring Summer Fashion Week which opens on May 16th. I always look forward to Fashion Week. There are always more innovative and avant garde releases for Fashion Week, as though the event challenges the designers to do their best work of the season. Here is the official schedule for Fashion Week. There are 16 fashion shows coming up – a great week full of fashion.
Last year Whimsy Winx and Sasy Scarborough released on of their collaborations called Papier de Mode. It came with two pose sets, one with these pieces of paper with different bits of text and one blank. For fun, I added the Fashion Week logo and a few words to the prop. I love it when a prop can be modified.

Do you know what would make me happy? If Flickr went back to the way it used to be – back before Yahoo purchased it and started to make it more and more like Tumblr. I want to hit a next button and wait for a new page. I do not want infinite scrolling. I hate infinite scrolling. It gets laggy and slow after a few page downs. If I click on a picture to see it, when I go back, I go back to the top, not to where I was. Does anyone know some secret way to have the old Flickr? I used to avoid it by using Flickr in Spanish, but they updated the Spanish version to their new horrible system, too. Now they have “improved” it again and it’s beyond irritating. Why do services that people like and use think they need to completely upend their design? When it’s working and popular, why change it?
Into the Light is the theme for this month’s Collabor88. If you love romantic pastels, this is the month for you. Among the highlights are the fabulous top from StoriesYCo by Flowey and this skirt from Tres Blah. The top comes with matching flirty shorts and the skirt comes with coordinating cropped sweatshirts. However, since Collabor88 designers work with a common color palette and theme, it seems that the point is finding new combinations as well. The beautiful quill incense burner is from {anc} and is also from Collabor88. The tea set with books is from dust bunny and was in the March Arcade session.
I fell in love with the {anc} broken chair at Collabor88. In particular, I thought the animations and poses were extraordinarily well done. I took a lot of pictures of the poses and will post smaller pictures of them. I added some lovely lacey lingerie from Luxuria. I love how the lace is an abstract representation of roses. Luxuria’s lingerie comes with all the layers for clothing as well as appliers for Slink and Maitreya. This picture also shows off the lovely necklace from LaGyo.
The lighting is not photoshopped. I used the Dark Ambient windlight setting that comes with the standard Firestorm collection. The lighting comes from the Pilot candles and the half-deer curtains. I also used one self-made projector prim.
