Many years ago, she became aware. Like any mind that becomes instantly aware, she had many questions, but alas, there was no one around to ask them.

On her tiny island home, she found many things, plant life, creatures and some structures. She seemed to have knowledge of what to do with all the things she found, knew their names and function.

Ingrained in her was the need to serve tea, though she did not know for whom. It became an obsession, to the point where she would stand by the teahouse door, and wait for the guests that never came.

When I first heard and then read about the Donna Flora event, I cried, I really did. I don’t do it often, but it really hit me. I cried a little again, when I realized I missed the cutoff date for applications for designers.

So I shopped instead.

I have never had the opportunity to talk with Squinternet. I’d sometimes see her setting up vendors in the shop, or out and about at events. I do however know her store line personally, as I have acquired many pieces from it over the years.

Some of you may know me, or of me, some of you may not, but one thing that can be universally seen in many of my posts is my love of colour. I also love period and retro styles. Donna Flora was one of those places I could go, get a Purple/Orange/Red patterned dress, grab gold, like real looking gold jewelry(so hard to find) and come out not looking like a clashy mess.

I was going to do this super complicated post with this dress, as I really loved the colours. I figured I could do all sorts of things. I can make a magical half dragon, half human princess who hoards jewels.

I went off and did my daily things, shopped a wee bit, got so many compliments on this simple styling, that I said, hey, why not just blog it this way, people seem to think it works. What probably threw me off was the normality of it.

If ever I do become a magical dragon/human half-breed jewel hoarding princess, I will let you know.

Hi, I’m Helena Stringer. I was invited to blog on here by Gidge, way back in march, fully intending to start posting. Many thing got on the way. That is what happens when you run a business in sl, everything else comes second. I also had wanted to do this awesome intro, and kept scraping outfits.

I decided not to put it off any longer, and while this may not be the outfit I would have chosen for my first, I do feel it goes well with some of the more recent posts here on Its only Fashion.

This was what I wore for Bandana day yesterday. I know, I should have posted it yesterday, but alas, it was not to be. I feel it is still fitting, as I am also wearing a dress from Donna Flora. Anyone following this blog knows that there is a Charity Event going on right now for Squinternet Larnia, Designer/Owner of Donna Flora. You can read more about that HERE. I’m also wearing a bracelet from Lazuri, which is discounted at the event, with 100% of the purchase going to the charity.

I will be doing my own very special post for Squinternet at a later date, so I will offer no deeply moving words at this point in time. What I will say is that there are price ranges for everyone at the event, so if you have a few L$ to spare, please stop on by.

I’ve been redecorating my little slice of SL heaven, better known as a 1536 plot.  Well I’ve been redecorating it repeatedly actually.  I have an addiction to houses, skyboxes and furniture. At the moment, I’m on the ground.  While putzing around in my new Miel frock, I noticed that it looked nice with my house and land, and so, pictures were born. 1. Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions?
I think I’m drawn to that as I’m a pretty straightforward thinker and don’t really feel comfortable in different and strange shapes. I can admire them but I don’t always want to *be* them. I’ve never purposely set out to make sure I’m an average proportional size.

2. What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh?
With the advent of mesh hands and feet that are easy to change to match my skin… not much anymore! I would love there to be better facial control. Otherwise I think it’s getting much better! New residents don’t know how lucky they have it. (brb grabbing my cane to shake at the younguns)

3. Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportional at all?
No. I don’t really like the odd pony rider shape or the strange frowny face, but it doesn’t bother me much. It doesn’t appeal to me, but I don’t get bent out of shape about it any more than I do about any other type of avatar.

4. Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average?
Absolutely not. I’m not like this in RL, this is my grown up dress-up doll. I can make her tall, short, fluffy, thin, or even a hedgehog if I wanted. I love the diversity out there in SL and we should all take a step back and appreciate our differences!

Now I shall retreat to my platform to hermit away in creatorville. Thanks for letting me dip into blogging!

Summer is Upon Us

Hello everyone! I’m Evangeline, and I’m one of the new bloggers here at It’s Only Fashion! I’m super happy and honored to be included and I hope you guys enjoy my seemingly random posts. (I’m a bit crazy) Today I wanted to blog about the SUMMERFEST! The SUMMERFEST is an 2 week long event featuring 40 of some of Second Life’s finest designers. The event opened up yesterday and it’s held on a really lovely beach. There are some things in SL that just strike my fancy.  The dress form is one of them. I love dress forms.  I love that creators are whimsical enough to create dress forms.  This month has seen an abundance of them.  Allegory Malaprop of Schadenfreude and Julliette Westerburg of Tres Blah both released dress forms as part of their Arcade Gacha items. Sienia Trevellion of Lark also released a lovely dress form and I pulled an older version that I’m particularly fond of out of my inventory, one by Theosophy’s Trace Osterham.
