I bet you thought I was going to mention Vintage Fair, didn’t you? Well, you are mostly right, but there is that old traditional song that has been revitalized and covered by everyone and their sister. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s anyone “gonna buy me a diamond ring” right soon, so turn that soundtrack down in the back. Yes, I admit it, I am going to slather and drool all over the Vintage Fair, but I think that’s okay, I slather and drool over vintage all the time and this is the first exposition of vintage designs I can recall. One of the wonders I found at the Fair is this sweet and lovely day dress from Paper Doll. Yellow is such a tricky color, but I do love this pale lemon that is just about the shade of washed butter or shaved lemon ice. It’s such a delectable color it makes me think of yummy foods, I notice. I will confess that my avatar build is not even close to the build this dress was made for, but it’s modifiable and with plenty of stretching I finally got it big enough to go around my waist. As you can see, once fitted, it looks good in many positions.
I chose this gorgeous square-toed pumps from G. Field to wear with them. You might notice a bit of glow around the pumps. That is not the shoes, that is the venue – a fantastical new exhibition from the creators of ZED called Secret Spheres. It’s quite fun and there are teleports and a notecard with landmarks to help you get around, but don’t rely on them alone as there are secret spheres that you can only reach by following the many mysterious tunnels that take you from sphere to sphere. Honestly, the tunnels are so pretty I almost just decided to shoot in one of them. Each sphere is a self-contained little world full of romance and beauty. Here’s a bit of information from the exhibition’s notecard:
This is the land of small worlds…. one small unique and minimalist universe enclosed in each sphere… many are intimate and romantic, others simply unusual…. How many are they? You explore and find out!… All spheres on the lower level are connected together by tunnels… or rather a labyrinth 😉 Other spheres float high up in the sky, beyond the clouds, and a few others lie underwater… You can follow the tunnels and explore… or fly through their walls as most are phantom, but be carefull not to fall. Some have 2 or 3 storeys…
Note: Several spheres are accessible only via the checkerboard teleporters. Here are the key landmarks in case you get lost! Other spheres remain secret – up to you to find them on your own! (All spheres were named after songs by Pink Floyd whose music you can hear on our land):
The necklace is also from Vintage Fair and comes with matching earrings that are hiding under my gorgeous hairdo from Elikatira’s Collabor88 offering. The jewelry is from phresh – a new to me jewelry store – and has a fun combination of old and new elements.
Also at the Vintage Fair, you can find this lovely skin called Gogo from Curio. I wonder if it’s named after Gogo of Juicybomb. Honestly, if anyone deserves a skin named after her, it’s that dauntless and detailed reviewer of skins I have learned so much about what to look for from her reviews that seamlessly blend detailed objective analysis with the subjective passion of a skin addict. The Vintage Fair is going to be worth your time and trouble to check out. There’s lots of information over at the official Vintage Fair blog. I know some of you dread the lag. Honestly, how bad the lag you experience depends in large part on your own efforts to control it. Don’t fret so much about other people, because you can make them not render. The best thing you can do to have a good experience at this and any other high attendance event is to read Sasy Scarborough’s magnificent overview of all things lag. You will be amazed the difference her advice will make in your experience.
