Lake Serpent

Helena Stringer - IOF - Lake Serpent - 1
Everyone knows about sea serpents, but long ago, somewhere in the history books, knowledge of lake serpents got lost. Maybe it was those few pages that got ripped out, to be used as kindling for the fire. Or, heaven forbid, someone got creative when in the loo.

There also seems to be an utter lack of information on the fact that, when needed, serpents can actually shift into humanoid form, to preform certain tasks.

We know of Match.Com, Plenty of Fish, eHarmoney, Tinder, and the list goes on, but what do we know of Medieval Dating for the Common Hedgewitch?

A little bit country

0424_002

I grew up in the country and live in a city. I have enjoyed the benefits and put up with the inconveniences of both rural and urban life and in the end, I choose the city. Still, there are times I miss the country. Listening to some neighbor’s car alarm last night, random noises from vehicles, police alarms and a band practicing loud enough to disturb but too quietly to be enjoyed – I longed for the rhythmic lapping of the waves on the shore with the hum of crickets punctuated by frogs and the laughter of loons. So, I went to the country in SL today – with a romper from Peqe (at the Liaison Collaborative) and a cozy jacket from sheep door that I picked up at Japan Fair.

Variety

0418_002

One of the many blessings of our second lives is the great variety we can enjoy every single day. Not only can we jump from winter to summer to the moon and back, enjoying sims from every continent, but we can enjoy more ordinary variety that is also fulfilling. In our first lives, moving is expensive, time-consuming and hard, hard work. In our second lives, we can move so much more easily. I love the Barnesworth Anubis brownstone released at last month’s Collabor88 and have finally finished moving in and decorating. Here’s a snap in the living room with the big bookcases that sandwich the fireplace. Just because it is a 19th century building, I did not feel a need for traditional decor – so it’s a bit eclectic.

We also get a unique kind of variety in our clothing. Gizza released adorable pants, shirt and suspenders yesterday and each of the three come with HUDS allowing you to change them even more. So with the first one, for example, the tie, shirt and pants can be red, purple or yellow – or you could choose a monochrome. The second one comes in red and blue and the brown comes in two shades of brown for each of the three pieces.

Luxe

0417_002

MiaMai’s Monica Outlander has just released her Luxe collection for spring. It includes a dress, top, pants, jumpsuit and long skirt with items coordinated to mix and match. Items include a HUD that allows you to choose the belts, ribbons and other embellishments so you can coordinate tops with skirts and pants easily. I am wearing the Kalia top with the Anya skirt and chose the ribbon to coordinate with the skirt’s print. Each item comes in solids in cotton and silk and in a range of prints. I love the thought that went into the print and color coordination. Speaking of color coordination, check out the gorgeous gold-tip mani/pedis from FLAIR for Cosmetics Fair.

This moment yearning

0414_003

THIS moment yearning and thoughtful sitting alone,
It seems to me there are other men in other lands

yearning and thoughtful,
It seems to me I can look over and behold them in
Germany, Italy, France, Spain,
Or far, far away, in China, or in Russia or Japan,
talking other dialects,
And it seems to me if I could know those men I should
become attached to them as I do to men in my own
lands,
O I know we should be brethren and lovers,
I know I should be happy with them.

LOTD

It’s Sunday, gonna go watch some football, eat some pizza, have some booze. Here is a LOTD post. Cute dress is from !go! this place has some seriously cute shit. My only very small complaint is that some of the mesh could be rigged a little better but I know how incredibly difficult rigging is for even the most experienced designers. The cuteness outweighs the rigging tho. (get it..outweigh har)

(ok why do my pictures look all strange when i upload them hmm)

Ice Queen

Wow, two post in one day. I’m on a roll with a side of slaw. I made my way to the cosmetics fair which is like one of my favorite fairs. Love me some makeup layers. They really let you change the way you look. Even if you have the same skin as a thousand other avatars, a make-up layer can give you an entirely new look.

Feeling Tweedy

oct24_002

The weather is getting cooler. Spending hours waiting for Tri-Met yesterday, I could have used this outfit, so comfy, so cozy, so very chic. With a very modern silhouette, the tweed pants outfit from The Annex is a Fall/Winter stunner.

The top is a coat-length tweed that mixes two very different tweeds for dramatic effect. That big, bold tweed on the sleeves would never work over the entire body, but as an accent on the sleeves, it is fabulous.

Autumn is My Favorite Season

oct22_004

Autumn is always the best season of the year back in Minnesota. Spring was wet and muddy, summer hot and muddy and winter dry and frigid. But the autumn, the weather was perfect – dry and sunny days, perfectly cool and fresh. The brilliance of the leaves changing, the birches to yellow, the sumac a rich burgundy, the maples a fiery orange and the basswood a deep mustard. This riot of color would play against the deep greens of the pines and the firs, a rich patchwork of dark and bright colors that, for me, was always the most beautiful palette of the year.

This dress from Kunglers calls that fall palette to mind – the flashes of leaves among the Norway Pine and Black Spruce with the golden tamarack and burgundy sumac and the olivine hemlock. Just looking at it makes me feel a little homesick for where I grew up.
