Slow Starter

I’m struggling to get moving today. I wandered over to Cajsa’s to look for coffee and to hopefully find some breakfast because I need to go shopping for pixel food. But now I’m lounging about on her comfy sofa and thinking about a nap instead.

I’ll get up and do something productive soon, I promise.

Maybe.

[sYs] PAULINE dress

Pauline Dress by [sYs[ Design

I love this picture from [sYs] Design. Yes, it’s a commercial photo, but that does not keep it from being a marvelous composition. It’s not just that the subject’s perfect placement following the Golden Ratio, but also the use of angles and curves. The curves of the hem, the sleeve caps, and the waist are echoed in her hair and the grass and tree. Her pose gives us angles at her hip and her elbow that juxtapose the angles of the collar and the juncture of the two hills. It is a beautiful composition while keeping it simple so that the focus is on the dress features.

Enter The Succulents

I’m missing some sort of female knowledge base, wherein information about plants is kept. I always feel like I’m supposed to know wtf some plant is, and really my knowledge base is limited to roses, daisies, dandelions and possibly tulips if they aren’t strangely flowered.

So when I got to rezz these succulents from MISH MISH my brain said SO THAT’S WHAT THOSE ARE! I’ve heard this term forever, I had no idea. Also, I’ve seen this plant a million times and had no idea what it was. Continue reading

Tall Poppies

Poppy is a new brand in SL that comes from the collaborative mind of Roslin Petion and  Rui Rodrigues. Anything Roslin attaches herself to has my attention since before God was a boy, and this new Poppy brand doesn’t disappoint. Continue reading

More Eyeware

I actually went to the Whore Couture fair despite being too much of a prude to like the event name, because I wanted these eyes. I was interested in them and I have to admit, they’re pretty amazing. The pupil dilates as though you’re focusing, adding another dimension life to your AV.

The shades of blue and purple are subtle.

I took a closeup of my favorite.

I really do like these. If you can handle the lag, go put this on your shopping list. File them under MUST have.

Berg

Berg by Skinny Nilla

I love the atmospheric noir sensibility in Skinny Nilla’s Berg photo. There is the dynamic created by the two people looking away from each other, It feels deliberate, not like two strangers passing on the street. Continue reading

Tres Fun at The Arcade

I’m wrecked and full of joy over all the gorgeous things at the ARCADE this round. So much girly goodness swirling around I don’t know which thing to gush over first. I might start with Tres Blah, which are the pajamas I’m wearing, but omg these KITTIES from Half Deer and absolutely killing me.

They make me feel a BIT giddy, I do confess. Continue reading

Dang, there is just too much great art from Second Life® folks on Flickr®. This is just from a few days and doesn’t even capture a quarter of the pictures I like.

And the stars were blue

And the stars were blue by Erika Xaron

Erika Xaron’s And the Stars Were Blue is successful on many levels. It creates a mood of introspection and solitude. Note that the horizon is placed according to the Rule of Thirds, but that the subject is not, placed instead on the fifth line. Often a picture will be more dynamic if you mix a third with a fifth rather than both on a third. The fifth is the outside limit for placing the subject in most circumstances unless you’re cropping part of the subject out of the picture. The other great compositional choice is the color overlay. Yellow and blue are opposites on the color wheel so work together beautifully. Continue reading
