It’s Friday Eve

It’s Friday Eve and that means it’s time for me to start thinking about heading over to my trailer park weekend home. I’m just raiding the cabinets for some snacks to take along.

Plus I need to go shopping. I always need to go shopping though.

Happy Friday Eve girls!

Ison Will Never Be Royal. Or WILL THEY…

Ison released three LORDE themed ‘dos at Hair Fair 2014. I like all three.  Possibly because I wore my hair like the one above in RL for about five years.  I was trying on new things from Collabor88 and this is what happens when a blogger has on too many things she likes. She just ends up wearing them all.  If I hadn’t worn the shirt then my boobies would be hitting you in the face first thing Sunday Morning. NO ONE WANTS THAT. Continue reading

Goodbye, Jimmy Scott

jun14_003

The LaPointe & Bastchild leather jacket and miniskirt are must-have investment pieces. The jacket is generously fitted so that it is easy to wear a top underneath (and comes with its own top included) and it and the skirt are classics. With a HUD to change textures, there are more than a dozen colors all in one. The shoes are from Pure Poison and that travel bag is from Redux. All are Fashion For Life exclusives.

The world became a little quieter on Thursday when Little Jimmy Scott, the incomparable jazz vocalist died at the venerable age of 88. My parents were fans and I grew up listening to his music. He was not a well-known singer and I have bonded with more than one person over our mutual love for his voice and music and utter loss as to why he was so unappreciated. Even the New York Times agrees, saying he was “”perhaps the most unjustly ignored American singer of the 20th century.” There’s a lovely article with several videos of his music here.

One reason he was so unappreciated is that his early label Savoy refused to allow him to record with other labels even after he was no longer with him. Like many artists of the 1950s and 60s, he was trapped by an abusive and exploitive record contract that kept him out of music for over 15 years – years he worked in as a cook, a nurse’s aide and hotel clerk. But he never gave up and never became bitter and was rewarded by a renaissance that brought him much deserved acclaim and a measure of justice.

Fashion for Life…Opens In 10…9…8…

Fashion for Life, months in the planning, is going to open within minutes. It’s a great opportunity for us shoppers to take our hard earned lindens and put them toward donating to a great cause – the American Cancer Society.

I’m wearing a great summer look from Lacuna for Fashion for Life. This is just one of an amazing assortment of styles and looks you can find to dress up your pixel doll and support cancer research at the same time.

I was going to do a post where I listed all the slurls but…Shayariel did an amazing job and I don’t believe in duplicating work. Click that link and check out the great post about Slurls and the themes of the event.

Get your Wanderlust on!

One Thing About My New Hair

I keep my lunch in it. Is that wrong?

This new crazy and fun hair (that the sushi IS optional with) is going to be at THE ARCADE oh in just DAYS! Can you believe Arcade is almost here! I kind of love this hair, it reminds me a lot of the days when people made silly things just because they could. Arcade always brings back a lot of the whimsy of my early days of SL to me.

I’m also showing off the amazing group gift from PINK FUEL. Why are you not in this update group? Seriously she included SLINK Appliers? HOW freaking generous is that? Eyes, lips skin and appliers just as a thank you for being in her group. Mochi is so generous, she amazes.

It’s not too late to run over to MY ATTIC to check out everything that’s new over there, this skirt and tank from LACUNA are a pretty summer look.

That’s all for me, but I’m going out for Japanese for lunch, that’s for sure.

Later pretties!

Rockabilly Picnic

0511_004

Who does not love the Rockabilly theme that Collabor88 is featuring for May? And to show how perfect Lark’s inclusion of a picnic basket, we have The Fulminators rocking with Teddy Boy’s Picnic. In honor of the theme, I will be playing a rockabilly set at The Velvet tonight from 5 to 7 SLT, mixing classic rockabilly artists like Wanda Jackson with neo-rockabilly singers like Imelda May and J.D. McPherson. I hope you will come and come dressed to the rockabilly nines. Continue reading

COLLABOR88 Has Something for Drapes and Squares

Collabor88 is set to open it’s doors to the next wave of shopping frenzy and this month’s theme is going to be hard to miss. The rockabilly styling and classic tailoring of this month’s clothing releases hard NOT to love, even if you don’t think cherries go with cheetah. Continue reading

My Neck Is Made Of Steel

I love rollers for my SL hair. I love all things that, as my friend Isla says “enhance the narrative”. Pixel Gidge is a character and her pixel life is played out for the most part here on this blog. Rollers are exactly what a girl this prissy would need, and let’s face it, she would have LOTS of different kinds.

Tiny Bird released a set of can rollers YEARS ago that were adorable. This past week Truth and Ploom both released roller hair dos for us pixel girls, and since I’ve already blogged Truth’s – let’s take a look at PLOOM!

Ploom made roller cans which is hilarious and cute.  As always you can use the hair dye hud of your choice – I’m using one of the dipped huds. I also am amused because these cans appear to be full.

NO SACRIFICE IS TOO GREAT FOR BEAUTIFUL HAIR LADIES. I don’t care what they weigh – get those cans in your hair. It’s Friday – time to get cute!

The Most Important Top On The Grid

My entire outfit was planned around this bandeau from Tres Blah which is new for Collabor88. The colors offered are gorgeous and subtle, and this is a perfect wardrobe pick up because it’s a summer staple. It can go under blazers, and with long swishy skirts. You can dress it up or down and it’s a perfect compliment to our never ending beach party than is Second Life. Well, some of us anyway.

There were also shoes, and tights, but that doesn’t matter now. ALL that matters is this top. You see, I started with the top. I built everything around the top. The top was my focus.

Then the top became my obsession. Continue reading
