There is a reason designers and fashionistas encourage natural fabrics. They don’t trap moisture against your skin, “breathing” so that you feel dry and comfortable. They are warm when you need them to be warm and cool when you need them to be cool. Of course, that does not matter much in Second Life® where our pixel weather is always perfectly what we want it to be. But you know, natural fabrics still look right. They have a richness about them which is so evident in this wool sweater and linen skirt from NYU. Continue reading

Risen
I spent at least an hour flipping through marketplace looking for a Halloween costume. It just seemed, I don’t know, too easy to buy a mesh avatar and call it my Halloween costume. I’m not sure why. I will probably end up buying one, because I can never settle on ONE costume. But this morning I thought WHY NOT MAKE ONE! Continue reading
And Suddenly It’s Monday Morning
Gidge was so busy all weekend, COLLABOR88 plus the Arcade plus yard sales plus the normal blogger girl stuff, shopping, standing on a pose stand, shopping, standing on a pose stand, a wee bit of entertaining, well, she got tired and passed out in her new bed. I got this one at a yard sale and it’s cute, it’s at THE ARCADE. I’m not entire sure it’s me, but it’s a fun prop. Continue reading
Winter Boots and Sweater Dresses
Sascha Frangilli released a cozy casual dress perfect for boots and tights in white, and I decided it’s Winter White so that makes it ok. Continue reading
Jazz Nights
Collabor88 is celebrating its second anniversary with a huge showcase – two stories featuring all the regulars and all the guests from the past year. It is the biggest Collabor88 showcase yet and best of all, it features the clothing from one of my favorite fashion eras, the 1920s. I first fell in love with the 1920s during my summer visits to my great aunt who was kindly called “a character.” She had been good friends with F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald and she and her husband partied with them at their apartment on Summit Avenue in St. Paul. However, time moved on and they and she did not.
How could a child not adore her, this 70-something woman dressed in rich, beaded and embroidered flapper gowns and gold and silver encrusted pumps with her hennaed hair in a bob with a flower on the side. She told wonderful stories of that era. Stories of speakeasies, parties and jazz. She taught me songs, dances and filled my head with stories of their parties, of meeting Charles Lindbergh before he disgraced himself, of Louis Tiffany and of course, Scott and Zelda. She loved that era and never left it. Yes, she was a few bubbles off plumb and probably looked ridiculous dressing in fashions sixty years out of time, but for a child – she was incomparable. Besides, she was family and families love their odd ducks. Continue reading
I Love When The Feeds Are Beautiful
Collabor88 this month has caused a riot in the usual styling on the feeds. Classy, sleek lines and elegant chic are widely replacing some of the more questionable choices. I have to say, it warms the heart. Continue reading
I Traveled To Tokyo With Flowers In My Hair
I wanted to go shopping somewhere new, so I put in SHOPPING MALL into SEARCH.
After wading through a bunch of places that had keywords shopping, shopping mall, big shopping mall, best shopping mall, shopping mall of the shopping, etc etc etc I found someplace that looked interested, said it was anime themed and I didn’t have anything better to do so I popped over. Continue reading
Think of a Title
I started this post this morning, but got distracted and decided to relax, read a book and cuddle with Oscar, my cat, instead. However, back to the blog! I love this dress from Milk Motion for Collabor88 July. It made with sheer floral tulle over a silk sheath with a serrated hem and sleeves. I love the color-on-color subtlety. I chose this nude version which is even more subtle than the many other color options you can choose from at Collabor88.

Summer
Sissy did it again! I just love her new series of summer gowns. Form-fitting bodices and flowing skirts in an array of summer colors as well as prints and ombre’s, her new Arya gown will leave you standing in front of the display struggling to choose just five, let alone one.
With a lightweight summer-weight silk and a barely there bodice showing off your shoulders, it is the perfect summer formal for all your events. The pretty nails come courtesy of FLAIR’s fabulous nail appliers for Slink hands.
Sail Away, Ladies!
Summer fashions often feature the crisp red, white and blues of nautical fashion. U.F.O.’s gorgeous little top for Collabor88 put me in mind of that with its white stripes. The top comes with a HUD allowing the wearer to choose an array of colors for the straps and so of course I chose red. U.F.O. also made matching skirts in several shades of denim, each with a print option with lips all over it. I think the outfit is adorable, which is why it was worth the trouble it took to get it to fit.
I had one difficulty with this outfit in that I had to do a lot more than minor tweaks to my shapet. I had to significantly reduce my body fat and shoulder width, all trying to reduce the size of my arms so they fit the sleeves. I don’t mind adjusting a shape a little for a brand, though. I simply save a copy with the brand name, so I will have it on hand the next time I wear something from them. So now I have a new Cajsa UFO shape tucked away in my shape folder. Continue reading
