Blogger Challenge: We Are All Just Walking Each Other Home

Clawtooth Blogger Challenge: We are all just walking each other home.

Clawtooth by Clawtooth Over and Over

Ram Dass, a pop spirituality writer, once said, “We are all just walking each other home.” It is a quote that has stayed with me since the day I first heard it.

Bubbles Clawtooth is walking his mother home. Bubbles’ mama has ALS, a neurodegenerative disease created to break hearts and spirits, but Bubs is too strong, too busy, and too needed to fall apart except perhaps for moments of silent screaming while driving to the pharmacy or grocery store. Because he is her child and her caretaker, he wrote that he feels like “the primary joy in her world which is both a treasure and a large cross to bear. Being strong when your heart feels like it’s shattering along with there being 24-hour needs and very little time for autonomy is by far the most difficult thing Bubs has ever had to face (and Bubs has faces some things darlings). It’s a living nightmare in one moment and a dear treasure the next.” Bubbles finds the strength in his love and joy in his service, but that does not make this walk easy.

Sometimes it helps when someone walks with you a little distance, even  if only in spirit. So I propose a Blogger Challenge to show our support and solidarity with Bubbles.

Life is too short to wear boring clothes

Life's too short to wear boring clothes

Yes, life is too short to wear boring clothes, but that does not mean that your clothes must be outré. Everyday casual clothing can avoid boring with great details and design. When the pants length is perfect, the collar points are sharp, and the drape is flattering, casual clothing is elevated, not boring. Check out the online stores for Delta Sigma Theta paraphernalia that can add an amazing look and style to your casual wear.

It was cold when I got dressed

"I have always believed that fashion was not made only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence." YSL

Does the weather in your first life influence how you dress in Second Life®? It sure does for me. And I know that’s crazy, but it still does. However, I dressed in the chilly pre-dawn when it as 45° and now it’s 79° and I am melting. Why does a jacket on my avatar make me feel warmer in my first life? How silly is that?

I really wanted to wear this Edwardian Jacket from The Annex, though because of the cold I opted for a different approach than the ruffled hot pants that are designed to go with it. Besides, I wanted to show you how flexible it is.

Going Green in Blue

And then the light came in

Collabor88 celebrates spring by going green. A Tough of Green is the theme this month, but you know those sneaky designers, they always go above and beyond and add all sorts of glorious colors for us. This top from The Secret Store comes in umpteen colors, almost as many as the pants from Addams.

And then the light came in

And if you don’t know how many umpteen is, there’s no hope for you.

A Happy Squeaky Wheel

Snapshot_006

I think if Hart Larsson of PXL Creations got 10 lindens every time I say, please make Lelutka Head appliers, he could buy a car. An SL car at the very least. But squeaky wheels get greased and lo and behold, so do squeaky mesh heads. It will be available at We ♥ Role-play until the end of April. The dress is floral confection from The Annex for A Secret Affair.

I relaxed for a bit outside the converted dovecote from Scarlet Creative where I have been living this last month. The furnishings are all to be found at Collabor88 and you better go rickety-split because I think tomorrow is your last chance before you will have to run from store to store. Items are from Aria & The Loft, Second Spaces, Soy and Scarlet Creative.

Flutter & Flow

A book, a bottle of wine, a sunny day

It’s a beautiful sunny day in Gidgewood, so I popped across the river to Gidge’s back forty and settled under Trompe Loeil’s marvelous outdoor hangout with some deer and rabbits as one does. I brought along some wine and grapefruit which don’ go together if you eat them at the same time, but are fine for eating and then drinking. My lovely dress is from Stories & Co by Flowey for Collabor88. I interviewed the designer Flutter Memel for this month’s issue of VSN. You can read the article here.

All Things Bright & Beautiful

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small

I love it when Collabor88’s theme is all feminine, with lacy fabrics, flowers, and lovely fabrics. And this month, that is everything Collabor88 is all about. And of course, The Arcade always has some lovely feminine and girly items.

For me, I love this lacy romper from Zaara which is rigged to Maitreya. I added this great little kimono-style jacket from Emery.

Spring at Furillen

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want — oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
I was feeling restless and antsy yesterday morning, so I went off for a bit of an exploration rather than unpacking boxes and figuring out what to feature from the Arcade which opens at midnight. I will do that today, but yesterday, there was just something in the air. And it was something that suited the carefree and happy Kaelyn maxi dress from Thalia Heckroth™. It is made for the Maitreya mesh body and works best is you don’t bother with feet and shoes. It comes is all sorts of happy colors and if wearing it does not lift your mood, you’re doing it wrong.

The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep.

“The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep”

The post title, “The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep” is a small quote from A Strangeness in My Mind, the newest book by Orhan Pamuk that I just finished reading a few days ago. My review, which i linked, explains why that writer means so much to me. I loved his imagery and that influenced how I fiddled with the windlight™ settings to suggest that dark and deep sea.

“The sea was as dark as dreams and as deep as sleep”

This month’s Collabor88 is all about espionage, but the spywear is flexible as you can see in this outfit that is happily as comfortable on a tightrope in the sea as it would be in a hidden lair of Dr. Evil.

Blue is a deeply sneaky color.

“How do you know, when you think blue — when you say blue — that you are talking about the same blue as anyone else?

How do you know, when you think blue — when you say blue — that you are talking about the same blue as anyone else?

You cannot get a grip on blue.

Blue is the sky, the sea, a god’s eye, a devil’s tail, a birth, a strangulation, a virgin’s cloak, a monkey’s ass. It’s a butterfly, a bird, a spicy joke, the saddest song, the brightest day.

Blue is sly, slick, it slides into the room sideways, a slippery trickster.

This is a story about the color blue, and like blue, there’s nothing true about it. Blue is beauty, not truth. ‘True blue’ is a ruse, a rhyme; it’s there, then it’s not. Blue is a deeply sneaky color.”
