Waitingā€¦anticipating

150507_004

I am uncommonly good at waiting. I do not know why; I do not have any particular fondness for delayed gratification. I would just as soon never have to wait at all. Nonetheless, I have so many ways to make the time pass that waiting does not bother me. I usually bring a book to read everywhere I go in case there are unanticipated delays. Sometimes there are delays long enough that I finish the book, but I still have distractions. I watch people going by and compose descriptions of them. I try to note all the details, the type of clothing, the fabrics and patters, the hair, makeup and accessories. You should try it sometime. It is an entertaining way to people watch. Sometimes, I get caught out staring, so I simply smile and say something like “I was admiring your scarf, is it silk?”

There are some fashion events coming soon and I have been waiting and waiting and waiting. One, Collabor88, opens in an hour. The other, Penumbra’s Spring/Summer Fashion Week opens on May 16th. While waiting for Collabor88 to open, I am taking a bath, listening to Art Pepper playing saxophone and hoping my candles do not set my curtains alight.

One of the highlights at Collabor88 already is this broken chair in the foreground. It is from {and} that contains several poses and animations. The quality of the animations and poses is amazing and you will see that in another post that I already shot but have not uploaded to Flickr yet. I figured I better wear some clothes when I am posing in the chair.

Zippity Doo Dah

150505_003
Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice has a gorgeous zip dress called Damie at Uber this month. It comes in 10 color combinations, all with gold zippers and a gold belt. She also has a coordinating clutch on sale at Uber, but I left it in the car while i took a walk on the beach. šŸ™‚

I remembered LiValle’s gorgeous Classico zipper shoes and dug out a pair to wear with the dress. Zippers R Us.

The Hydrangea God Surveys His Minions

150502_003

From the bottom of the garden, enthroned in his earthenware pot,
the hydrangea god surveys his minionsā€” Rosanna Warren (listen here)

Who does not love hydrangeas? They blossom with such abundance and generosity, their palette of colors at once delicate and wild.Ā Oregon is awash in hydrangeas and their leaves are budding now. I thought I had seen every color of hydrangea until I saw this gown from Gizza with the black umbels of hydrangea. Now I know all about adding or subtracting aluminum phosphate to make soil more or less acidic or alkali to change hydrangea color, but how did they get black. I turned to Professor Google and learned they simply paint the umbels. However, the effort pays off with a gorgeous drapeĀ of hydrangeas for the neck and headpiece that accompany this gorgeous gown.

Serendipity shows her face again. These bracers from MiaMai for We <3 Role Play were in the same grouping of notices waiting for me when I logged in. They were sent with a few hours of each other. Now some might thing they are rough-hewn in contrast to the delicacy of the dress, but contrasts between hard and soft can be exciting and the silver petals on the braces are reminiscent of the hydrangea petals.

Pretty In Punk

150501_001

There are a few more shopping days left of the Pretty In Punk round of Collabor88 and you won’t want to miss it. Look at this gorgeous dress from ISON for this round. It comes in several solid colors and well as two plaids and these gorgeous stripes. I love ISON’s contemporary style, minimalist and fashion forward with just a few details that reflect the designer’s discipline. You will never hear Nina say “it’s over-designed” about anything from ISON because the designerĀ in control.

Taxi!

150422_003

I stopped by XIN, a sim I found in the Destination Guide. It’s a seedy urban sim, Ā just what I was looking for to complement the punk out fit from Emery for Collabor88. Ā The outfit features a sleeveless tank dress and a jean jacket with knit sleeves.

Balloons

150419_004

I like everything I wear for my blog, but every once in a while an outfit will strike a special chord and make me feel extraordinary. Azul’s Abigail for Black Fashion Fair is such a dress. With all the bare skin, it was critical that it fit perfectly since I could not use alphas to block any of the bodice in the mesh top, not with such exposure on the side. As you can see, the fit was perfect and I got a lot of compliments on it when I wore it for my set this morning.

Rockabilly Red

150418_004

The theme for this month at Genre is Rockabilly and Fission’s Paula dress is pure Rockabilly. It comes in black, pink, blue and red and of course, I had to go with Rockabilly Red.

Yearbook Challenge

Yearbook Smile Saying Cheese does not work

Nonconformist of the Year – TheĀ reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. – George Bernard Shaw. .

Second LifeĀ® Memestress Strawberry Singh has kicked off 2015 with a fun blogger challenge. She asked folks to shoot a high school yearbook picture with a smile – and explain how we achieved that smile. It was not easy, but I did manage a ghost of a smile.

How I Did It: I used a combination of methods, adjusting my face shape, using tips from Melanie Kidd.Ā  Then I turned on slow animations following Gogo’s tips on slow motion animationĀ and Iris Ophelia’s tips on lip-synching.

Saying Cheese did not work at all!

Yearbook SmileI also tried using emotes on the AnyPose HUD I use to control my eyes in combination with the lip-synching and slow animation. OH well! PhotoShop can help.

Unpacked

140827

The move is complete, the bags and boxes unpacked and I have settled into aĀ chair to take a last look before crawling into bed.

140827

The nice thing about moving in Second Life is that one does not have to look the part. Ā I am wearing a mini-dress from 1992 that is the neĀ plus ultra of hot, sexy modernity. It’s revealing, edgy and definitely “designed” but not at all over-designed. It comes in a solid beige, a solid black or this print – and all can be found at The Dressing Room.

Moving In

0826_004

Well, I decided to go for it and move into the Brooklyn Carriage House from Trompe L’oeil. It’s smaller than the big brownstone I was living in and requires a lot less furniture, but I ended up buying some furniture anyway, because that’s what happens when you move. You need new things. Among the new things are this lovely vanity that’s also from Trompe L’oeil and a big blue velvet bed from there as well.

0826_002

I added this glorious lounge/daybed from Mudhoney that can be found at this month’s Collabor88. The golden key embellishment at the bottom and the gorgeous tassels place it firmly within the Odyssey inspiration and that blue is a rich as the Aegean Sea.
