Let Your Flexi Flag Fly

mar28_004

David Crosby’s Almost Cut My Hair lyrics came to mind today as I was thinking about this post.

I almost cut my hair
‘Twas just the other day
It was gettin’ kinda long
I could-a said, it was in my way
But I didn’t and I wonder why
I want to let my freak flag fly
And I feel like I owe it to someone

I guess it’s because so many of us, including me have been deleting more and more of our old flexi and system clothing to make room for mesh. However, today I am going to let my flexi flag fly because there are still times when flexi gives us something that mesh cannot – movement that is flowing, soft and romantic as in this gorgeous gown from Azul.

Cajsa Fast Five: March 29th

Fast Five There is a new opening at Linden Endowment for the Arts that looks like it will be amazing in photos. There’s a bit of ancient history and some story-telling with decor.

  1. Rust by Cica Ghost: Orca Flotta does a thorough review with many pictures of the new Rust exhibition sim from Linden Endowment of the Arts. Most of us remember Cica’s amazing black and white cartoon world so I am eagerly anticipating a visit to her new Rust on LEA23. Continue reading

Easter Egging

Easter with Sophie

I decided it wasn’t going to be a proper Easter unless I fetched Sophie from vising Uncle Inventory (She was there visiting with Gogo’s baby Chris) and took her to do some Easter Egg hunting! We had to go Easter dress shopping first, and I picked her up an adorable crocheted dress and Sweet Penelope & I slipped into this lovely leather dress from Baiastice that I’ve been looking for a reason to wear.

These garden gnomes though, they seem to be confused on the HUNT concept. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: March 28th

Fast Five Today there are some event announcements, challenge responses and as always, great fashion, fabulous style and sharp, beautiful photos.

  1. Got Nothing to Wear Again? I love Caoimhe Lionheart’s clever picture announcing an upcoming clothing event, the Couturier’s Dock which features limited editions of only 50 items. Sounds like a perfect event for folks who want something they won’t see everywhere they go.
  2. Neutral: Destiny Philbin styled two fabulous outfits. In particular, I thought the one on the left showed real brilliance with the accessories. Both outfits are great, but I know I will be looking at that necklace and probably buying it later today.
  3. Hair Fair 2013: Whimsy Winx announced that the Designer Applications are open. So hair stylists, this is Second Life’s equivalent of the Bronner Brothers Hair Show, a be there or be square sort of event.
  4. Amblyodipsas Rosaceae: Elysium Hynes packed a lot into this post with info on three events and a character she created for the Create a Character challenge. If that were not enough, her photos are striking and capture your attention immediately.
  5. Sleepover Party: Bust Out of Your Bubble Challenge: Maci Restless tackles the challenge with Clear Channing and it looks like they had a lot of fun,  though cleaning up after a big pillow fight can be exhausting if the pillows burst. The fun thing about this challenge is the Maci had to interview Clear in order to get to know her better. It’s a great way to build community.

Cajsa Fast Five: March 27th

  1. SL Project Updates Week 13: Inara Pey has a roundup of all sorts of exciting improvement and changes to the viewer. If you have time for a second post, there’s also HTTP Updates, the what, why, who which talks about exciting developments that will improve stability.  Continue reading

Going For Baroque

Mar27_003

Yes, I went for baroque, combining a sweater, skirt, collar, leggings and jewelry for a lace on lace style that is as extravagant as it is elegant.  The skirt I have worn before, a favorite of mine from Baiastice. It is just the right length and has a nice high waist to fit well with so many tops. The sweater from h.m.a.e.m. is divine and cleverly comes with the alpha in two lengths in case you want to show some midriff. She made a black sweater with white lace also and I may go back and pick it up.  Continue reading

Casual Comfort and Joy

in shadow_001

I used to own this book, titled something like How To Live Well When Your Age and Income are UNDER 30. Oddly, it was sort of a lifestyle book for when your career and finances aren’t in keeping with the aesthetics you’d like to embrace.

It gave you advice on how to appear “all together” – always wear at least lipgloss, do you nails – do them yourself it’s cheaper. Wear a scarf, it classes up even a tee shirt. Meet friends for apps vs dinner – it’s cheaper but still conveys that social eating and drinking vibe. It taught you how to hunt for chic, fun things to do within your budget. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: March 26th

Fast Five Another Fast Five. My cat has been howling all morning demanding attention. He had food, water and really, has been sitting halfway on the laptop or on my shoulder all morning, so there’s no reason for it. Still, I am going to hurry and finish so I can pick him up and hold him like a baby. He is so weird, he likes to be held against my shoulder while I kind of stand and sway back and forth like when you comfort a baby. He’s 13. He should have grown out of this by now.

  1. A Little Night Fishing: Pearl Grey has a beautiful photo illustrating the joys of night fishing. That was illegal where I grew up unless you were fishing for compliments.  Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: March 25th

Fast Five It’s Monday so I am prepping my set for tonight at The Velvet. It’s a fun mix of some psychedelic rock, indie folk and blues and all sorts of songs that fall through the cracks. Not falling through the cracks are today’s Fast Five.

  1. Social Media Meme: Strawberry Singh kicks off another meme that could help you connect with your blogger friends and acquaintances on the many social networks you inhabit. The more people who do the meme, the more you all will be connected. I thought her photo to illustrate the meme was a bit of genius.  Continue reading
