Cajsa Fast Five: October 26th

Fast Five I know I have been neglecting the Fast Five lately. I cannot even blame it on being busy because I have been slacking in every department. I have been dealing with more than my usual health issues. Still there have been some good articles I have read and some of them I even saved for when I got around to posting.

  1. Furniture 101: Prim Saving  | Valena Vacano wrote a fabulous little tutorial that I plan to put into practice the first time I log in long enough to do it. Really, if you read nothing else, read this. It will save you prims and make your prims go farther.
  2. Rising Up Toward You | Lilo Denimore posted this gorgeous outfit. I love her styling and most of all, I love the sultry look of her avatar. Can’t you see her in some old classic film with one of those bad boy stars like James Dean?
  3. Tangled | Parker Droverson offers a nice mix of fashion and decor and it was the decor that really caught my eye. I love the leaves in the vase, so vibrant in contrast to the leaves behind the window. The sprinkbok and gazelle heads are striking accents. It also made me think of the contrast in how these heads feel compared to the hunting trophies from deer and elk hunting. I wonder if it’s that without the fur, it feels more like an artifact found naturally instead of a trophy.
  4.  TOS Legal Panel Discussion | Inara Pey segments the legal presentation from Justitia and the SL Bar Association into manageable portions. This makes it easy to find particular sections you want to check out specifically. Related to this, there is also this. Second Life TOS News 2013 – 43 | Meanwhile, Nalates Urriah provides thoughtful, and responsible, context to the recent letter from LL PR.
  5. Slurppp | Petra Messioptra has  incredible photos that are as spooky as anything you will see this Halloween season.

Pointy Hats Off To The Wizarding Faire

I finally made it to the Wizarding Faire this morning. I wanted two very specific things at the event, as I’m not a wand using/Harry Potter reading/cape wearer sort, I had planned a really limited amount of time to get in and get out.

Props to the builders, when you land you can touch a picture to get a map that details exactly where each creator’s items are. It’s built as an alley of shops (Harry Potter? I don’t know) and each creator is located with a small group in each one. It took me a minute to figure out how to get out of the landing zone – you have to touch a wall of rocks when then opens into the alley. There are words that say TOUCH HERE – but my camera wasn’t set high enough to see them initially.

When I got about the first area of shops – I got caught in the familiar lag soup. And this is where I also want to send out a HUGE set of props to the builders and even organizers- because I mentioned on plurk that I was having trouble and boom hello folks were there to see what was going on.

Being concerned about people’s shopping experience is amazing and really appreciated.  Continue reading

Studio Time:It’s a Cinch at Collabor88

It’s never a question that I will blog items from Collabor88, but for me the question is who to blog FIRST. There is such a consistent level of quality at the creators of Collabor88 that it has become painstaking to figure out which box I will open and like first.

That’s a cherished thing for an event, I would never lie and say I love everything I see. But the things that I love tend to be really well done.

So we’ll start this month with The SECRET STORE. Maylee Oh again hits one out of the park with a cinched high waist dress that leans toward a corset cut, juxtaposed with a Peter Pan collar. Sexy but demure. The name, Jezibell, leans toward the vintage cinched waist’s hint at corset pulling, but definitely keeps it PG with a delicately gathered bodice in rich deep tones. The skirt is textured with broad but faint stripes and shaded to indicate the fabric stretched over your curves. Continue reading

Spending My Sunday in a 2 Linden Dress

Everyone once in a while I like to flit about to the scarier part of Marketplace. I usually don’t know what I’m looking for, just that when I see it it will be mine. I’m speaking of the nearly free section. Continue reading

Fall Decorating

The first time I ever started getting into home decor seriously it was fall, maybe three years ago. It’s come so far since then. I still have all my pieces, collected excitedly and remember fondly getting to excite to change everything.

The ASHDON living room from Trompe Loeil is my first fall change indoors and it’s cozy & perfect. You get color options plus you can choose pillows or blankets etc for your look. I picked blankets because I know I’ll cover up when the sea air gets cold.

Funny true story, to remind you how far we’ve come. On the table behind my sofa is a decor piece from Lisp from 2-3 years ago. It’s pumpkins that say BOO and has candles. It’s ADORABLE.

It’s also 17 prims.

My new sofa, is 4.

Mesh, we’ve come a long way baby.

  • House – Barnesworth Anubis Lakeside Cottage
  • Living Room Furniture – Trompe Loeil ASHDON – for  FAMESHED
  • Lamp: Trompe Loeil – Gacha Lamp from The Arcade
  • Sofa Table – Cheeky Pea
  • Bookcase: LAQ
  • Fairies and Case: Baiastice

Saturday Morning Photobomb Cat

I was ecstatic to the point of ridiculous that Mudhoney released MUMS for Fifty Linden Friday yesterday. If you aren’t from the US – mums are the official herald of fall.  I’ve started my fall decorating, adding the rocker just released from What Next and now the mums. YAY for fall decorating!

My cat, my FIRST cat, Snake Plisskin is so glad to be out of the his Inventory Kennel. He follows me around everywhere and would not let me take a photo without him. He’s a very spoiled pretend cat.

I have such a hectic schedule today though, I have to grab a cup and RUN because both lives are completely booked full. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: September 26th

Fast FiveIt’s been some time since my last Fast Five. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately. Not that I have so much more to do, but the same work feels like more when I am not feeling my best. However, I have antibiotics now and should soon be firing on all cylinders again.

  • Today – Sydd Sinister’s Today post is from September 11th, which goes to show how far behind I am. Normally I would not pull up a post from so long ago, but this is just too good to miss. The styling is so perfect I thought all the pieces were from one outfit, but no! She pulled them together. It’s a stunner and kind of awe-inspiring.
  • Second Life’s Strange Second Life – The Verge has an article featuring Second Life that is not totally condescending, horrible and probably will not make you want to throw bricks at their office building. For example, the author writes “There’s no such thing as an average Second Lifer…” True and rarely seen in non-SL media.  Continue reading

In Other News There Are Flowers In MY ATTIC

My Attic this month is full of beautiful floral themes and variations of the theme FLOWERS IN MY ATTIC.  Lacuna has released a gorgeous set of shorts and tops that say adieu to summer in the most beautiful way.

And let’s face it, we can have summer whenever we want in SL so we can wear them all winter if we like. I love the wallpaper inspired shorts, I want these in RL.

I’m also sporting one of my poses from PRETENSE for the event, called Flowers for You – this is a single pose. The pack comes with one friend pose, with a bouquet, and a single daisy and you can mix & match it all up for however you like.  Continue reading

Sunday Morning Stroll

It was a beautiful morning for a stroll around the sim, and I couldn’t resist dragging out the new stroller I recently picked up. Now that we have wide spaces for walks and beautiful parks, it’s perfect. I like that you wear it, so it doesn’t matter that it’s a bajillion land impact.

The sim is beautifully landscaped and I have to admit, it’s like paradise to wander around. Lovely boardwalks, great shopping and lovely little cafe tables abound all around. Beach surrounds it all, it’s kind of Gidgey paradise. Continue reading

Cute flowers, not creepy flowers

Whimsy's garret (4)

Happy Sunday! I was seduced by all the pastel cuteness at My Attic, and especially Whimsy’s cool WinxBox, made specially for the event. I played happily in it for a while last night, enjoying all of the sit positions and different wall textures. It suited the My Attic theme, which was “Flowers in my attic.” Luckily this was interpreted literally (flowers on things, including hair and pants) instead of metaphorically. There were no incestuous relationships or abusive grandparents for sale (did you know that the book has a drinking game?). More photos, including Jackal’s elegantly lacy Slink add-on pumps for The Boutique, behind the cut.
