My Dakota gown

Yesterday i visited Collabor88 and, after waiting for everything to rez properly, i was really amazed at the sight of so many beautiful creations. Not that normally i’m not amazed by C88 things, but it doesn’t happen often that i like almost the whole collection, like in this case or like the famous anniversary case. I grabbed all the demos i wanted and went back home to try them on, cause the place was too laggy to try demoing there.
Just one thing disappointed me, tee*fy‘s stuff wasn’t out yet. You know, tee*fy’s spot is the first one i put my eyes on each time i go visit C88.
This morning – my morning, when yankees are probably sleeping and the place should be less crowded haha! – i went back to buy the things i wanted and i finally saw that tee*fy’s items were out.

And i drooled over the Dakota Corset Gown which i purchased without even trying the demo on.

Wonderfully texturized, this is one of the most beautiful things i’ve seen recently on SL. This is a perfect example of mesh which i don’t often see on long dresses. Look at the way it “caresses ” the body with every movement, look at the perfectly irregular cut, look at the high front slit sensually showing the leg, look at the belt which stylishly completes the look.
Ahhh…Dakota, so sensual and elegant at the same time.

Berry’s meme: a close friend

Mischief Managed (6)

I am still wandering Hogwarts, and thought you might like to see it. I’ve posted a few more photos of the sim over on my blog, but — GEMINIO. Here are more! In the bottom photo you can see my wand, the Schadenfreude Celestial wand. It’s beautiful and magical, and I swear I didn’t turn Allegory into the newt that hyasynth is holding.

Yesterday, I began to work on Berry’s meme, revealing the deep, dark secret that Acha was born a man but forced to cross-dress ever since. The second part of the meme is about friendship.

2. Blog about one of your closest friends in Second Life.

Lucky for me it’s hyasynth Tiramisu. I think the gist of this meme asks the question, what makes a good friend in Second Life? I think for me it’s a combination of honesty and loyalty. At the beginning of my career as a blogger, my pictures were horrendous crap. hyasynth has always gently assisted me, pointing out that I probably need poses other than my AO, that I should perhaps blog things besides her own clothing, that spending some time learning Photoshop would help me develop my eye. All of these things were true, and have helped me grow as a blogger.

I’m still growing and learning, but I’ll remember the lovely moment when hyasynth actually “liked” some of my photos on Flickr. It felt like my mentor was giving me a decent grade! Aside from simply helping me grow as an SL photographer, hya inspires me constantly with all of her art. She’s always growing and pushing herself, and is one of the hardest-working ladies that I know.

Falling In Love Again…With Fashion Week

sept30_004

It’s AVENUE Fall/Winter Fashion Week and the event kicked off with 3 shows yesterday and will continue all week. Check out the calendar here. The fabulous Kungler sisters had their show yesterday. There are some big surprises for long time fans, such as this ultra=metropolitan dress in cream with metal accents. Its shape seems loosely inspired by medieval court jesters with the turned up collar post-modern jester’s collar and the pleated and banded sleeves that are a modern, urbanist reinterpretation of the medieval jester’s sleeves. There’s nothing medieval about this dress, though. It’s as modern as can be.

I added the over-the-knee boots that are still available at Collabor88 for a few days before their release at ISON. I love the buckle above the back of the knee and like how the strap width is similar to the width of the metal straps on the sleeve. These boots come in several colors, each as tasty as this fresh cream.

Feeling sexy ;)

Hello, lovelies 🙂
I hope everyone is doing good.

s t a r s

Yesterday i finally found some time to spend on SL, so i went shopping and, after falling in love for the gorgeous corset from Baiastice, i decided to combinate it with other great stuff to style a totally new look.
Now now, i’ve never been a thigh high boots person, so i tried the Bax Regency Boots on just for fun, i thought they could go well with the corset and the look i had in mind.
And – OMG – i loved them the exact moment i wore the demo on. They’re just perfect.

Adore me ;)

So sexy *_*

New azure jewelry set from Ellabella, and stuff

Detail: Ellabella necklace

Yesterday, late at night, I looked at this lovely blog and realized that I had things to say! But none of them were more important than Cajsa’s post, in which she described all of the articles that she’s written for AVENUE this month. I am partway through that list, and have the cool article about Bryn Oh bookmarked for later. So awesome!

Then I wanted to post something here this morning, and Gidge was already awake and looking pulled-together and gorgeous, like the organized working mom she is.

But I had things to say too, and I wondered what to do with them. My fingers kind of wandered for me, and I opened up a dusty blog named achariya.net. “Huh,” I thought. “I have stuff to say here again.” So I actually…posted on my own blog for a change. That doesn’t mean the fine women at IOF are off the hook! I will continue to bug everyone over here too! And I don’t really know what I want to do with that space yet. Maybe I’ll post once a month. Maybe I’ll only photo other people. The possibilities are vast…

Oh and look at my pretty new necklace from Ellabella for Genre (photo above) and a sim where I’m about to go shop like mad (photo below).

No 15: In The Garden

sept12_004

Every church I attended when I was growing up had the Gospel Hymnal with all the songs numbered to help people find them quickly. We all knew Number 60 was The Old Rugged Cross. Dad’s favorite was No. 234, Children of the Heavenly Father, a traditional Swedish hymn that he preferred to sing in Swedish. For Mom, it was Higher Ground and for some reason I cannot remember its number for certain, though I think it was 117. Mine was number 15 – In the Garden.

I come to the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses.
And he walks with me and he talks with me
And he tells me I am his own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

That songs speaks to the ecstatic experience – which though associated with faith can be experienced by anyone in the presence of absolute beauty. I remember the first time I had such a moment. I was six and visiting my sister and her family. We were at the Falls and exploring this garden that had a floral clock and the mist rose up from the falls making everything and everyone fall away. It seemed I was a alone in a fog of flowers. I stopped still and remember wondering if it was real or if I were dreaming. It was a profound experience, a kind of joy born solely out of beauty. I remember feeling the same way when I was a senior in high school and sitting in the gardens of the Alhambra. I was resting alone in a gazebo made of bougainvillea, sketching the fountain in front of me and suddenly the sunlight struck the water drops in such a way they seemed like prisms, radiating color in the air. It took my breath away and I again felt that strange feeling of unreality, a sort of “pinch me, I must be dreaming” moment, except you would never want to pinch yourself out of such joy. Colors bleeding everywhere

Oubliette at noon

I ponder that I am such a recluse in SL because the second I want to be somewhere, RL happens. For example, I would’ve really wanted to be at Squinternet’s gathering this morning at 9 SLT in order to listen to my friends talk about her, and honor her memory. Instead, I was driving my kid between violin and ballet, yep, the normal Saturday routine. It made me wonder how many SLers feel my pain — I suspect that many of us take up SL because it slides neatly around all of our other commitments. Health issues; work all day (at home or elsewhere); look after children/a child at night; head into SL to decompress…

Speaking of which, this pink jacket (fashionably Dead at C88) absolutely makes me decompress. It was brighter than the leaves of Oubliette, which is pretty amazing, considering. I’m still camped out in the sim, soaking in its beautiful glow. There’s a rumor that the sim might be looking to lease to few good vendors or residents — if you find the sim as lovely as I do and are looking for a place to call home (or sell your work), contact Elizabeth Tinsley in-world via notecard.

More photos and credits behind the cut. Also, look how cute Gidge looks in these stretchy pants!

Eyes from Helena!

I am not the IOF queen of extremely pretty enormous face shots, Hybie, Gidge, and Cajsa are. But I totally stole their style to show you these vivid eyes and playful web lashes. The eyes are from The Stringer Mausoleum, and Helena says they’ll be in a special edition pack of four colors for purchase by her group (tangerine, saffron, lime and chartreuse colors). There are other new colors of these eyes out from TSM too (not group-only), and Phire posted about the very cat-like yellow set over at her blog Style Genesis.

Also, I’m totally naked.

In my last post, I speak for the trees, I mentioned that dwindling profit to the vendors has cut short the life of the beautiful sim Oubliette. I’ve been camping my avatar there, trying to capture the beauty of the sim before it fades (and investing as much as I can into Balderdash trees!). These two photos of Rivendell-esque beauty are from the sim:

Saiygewood (3)

I feel a bit like the Lorax today. One of my favorite sim-builders and tree-makers is contemplating closing up her in-world (extremely beautiful) sim after October, and the idea of it hurts my heart. I’m walking in some of her woods here (you can buy it as a nice big low-prim chunk) — the woods are called Saiygewood, and they are sold at Balderdash on Oubliette.

Nature, oddly enough, is what drew me to Second Life. I started an account with a vision in my head — I wanted most to recreate the mental place that I go to while I meditate. It’s an outside space surrounded by trees; an ancient stone circle under the clear sky. I’ve created this once or twice in various Second Life abodes, and each time, I’ve used Saiyge’s trees to give life to my dream.

I’m going to be living in Balderdash on and on for the next few weeks just to soak up the lovely ambience before it fades. I feel like an Elf in Rivendell right before the end of the fourth age. If you want me, I’ll be walking in the trees.

Forest Feast (2)

This morning, my old friend Siddean was kind enough to hold my hand and talk me through putting on her feet. “There are no appliers for Miasnow’s zombie-grey skintone,” I whined, but then I remembered that Helena Stringer has half-promised to work on appliers for us alternaskinned folk. Some day! But meanwhile, I put on the Belleza Arcade skin, and found that the Slink appliers had their own little sign in the Belleza shop. It was far too easy, one little click. Sorry I’ve avoided you for so long, pretty Slink feet! (I blame the fact that I wear Jackal’s boots all the time.)

With my feet on (and a pair of Betty’s Paola flats), I went for a late-summer stroll through Forest Feast. It’s flat-out gorgeous there, and I realized that I’d never seen it properly rezzed before. I’m wearing Katat0nik’s coat and scarf for the upcoming Collabor88 release (It’ll be out soon!). It’s such cute Autumnal coat that I long for late December, when it’s actually a little cold in Florida.

Oh — those dirty knees.  Well. I figure my avatar was probably kneeling in the dirt at Forest Feast curiously examining her new feet.

More pretty Forest Feast and outfit credits behind the cut!
