Happy Sunday!  How’s the weather where you live?  The highs are still in the 70s here this week, and I’m SO ready for cooler weather so I can break out my pretty coats!

To make do, I decided to feature coats in this post.  At least the weather in SL is exactly what I want it to be!  🙂

As you can see, I was in a monochromatic mood yesterday!

I am absolutely loving mesh coats right now.  It’s so much better than our old sculpty prim coats with their 287 attachments!  There are some fabulous new releases, some of them at special events (the NYU release is at FaMESHed, and the Baiastice is at Cinema and has a separate matching hat available).  Cold Logic also released a huge line of coats, which come in a variety of different options and colors.

I’m back with another “vintage” look for the Raid Your Closet Challenge!

This week I used some of my absolute favorites from days-gone-by.  If you were in SL around 2008-2009, you might remember Plod.  It was an awesome sim with lots of fun items, like this messenger bag complete with a little squirrel in it, and purses that dropped acorns when you walked.  I loved it…it was so unique!  Unfortunately I lost all my old pictures of Plod when my computer died.  I wish I could share them with you.

These UBU “porn stars” are still some of my favorite shoes in SL, and I wear them all the time.  They have a ton of customization options.  This older Maitreya hair is still the best beanie/hair combo in my inventory.  The Reek cardigan has a lot of sculpted prim attachments, but I love the color and hope someone does some mesh sweaters like this one.

Have you heard about Lucie Bluebird’s Raid Your Closet Challenge? Go have a look at the details! The primary rule is that you must have owned the items before the beginning of the month, but I decided to go back much further than that. I’ve been obsessed with SL fashion ever since I signed up in 2008, so I have a LOT of clothing in my inventory from “back in the day.” I’m looking forward to using some of it again, even if only for a few weeks!  (And…cough cough…the challenge started this past Monday, so I’m a little tardy).

Putting this look together was a lot of fun. I dug through my inventory and kicked aside some giant dustbunnies in folders I haven’t opened since mesh became widely available. These were some of my go-to items for a long time. I love the textures of this jacket/shirt combo, and if it were real life, it would be worn out from wear by now. The denim skirt is from fri.day and was also in heavy rotation for a long time. (I really want to see more mesh denim skirts!). The Surf Co. boots are also old-ish, but have withstood the test of time and stand up strong against the mesh boots out there. This Lamb hair was my favorite for a long time, though lately I tend to stick with mesh to avoid prims cutting into my body.

If you’ve seen any of my previous posts, you’ll know I primarily wear mesh these days. But as much as I love mesh, it does have its limitations. When we had only system layers and sculpted prims, I think I was more creative with my outfits. I really enjoyed the layering options we have with those, and I hope one day we’ll be able to layer mesh in the same way.

My last post was a “home and garden” tribute to fall, so it’s only fair that fall clothing should receive its own!

In both worlds, my favorite fall outfits center around a dress with boots and tights. Leverocci, DDL, and Elate all released cute dresses with longer sleeves, and Cold Logic has created lovely one-piece dresses with coats included! But summer dresses are great for fall, too, if you layer them with a cozy cardigan like the Toki-Doki one above.

(Meanwhile, in the real world, I’m still waiting for it to cool off enough to wear tights!)
