What Can I Do In Slink(y) Stilettos

It started off like a fashion blog might. I took some shots of a lovely cocktail ring from Maxi Gossamer. I was delighted that it sits next to my wedding ring – I LOVE wearing more than one ring.

Then I shot the shoes.

And I had this THOUGHT! I’d do a THEN AND NOW OF THE STILETTOS OF MY SL.

Because, the world has changed. I dug into my inventory with glee planning to show you how far we’d come when I realized – I’d deleted them in a rare inventory purge. Which is sad, because they were really something. I’d gotten them in a freebie box at this place that had tons of free or cheap furniture and you could game there. YEAH that’s how long ago I got them. I looked on MP, so great was my zeal to show them to you, but alas, the great MAGIC BOX SUNDERING of 2013 must have obliterated them all.

So, next idea.  Continue reading

Perfect loli hair from Katat0nik

Kat's Romy hair

I’m channeling my inner exorcist with this pose. I believe it was an early test one from Dove Swanson, it doesn’t even have a proper name. I still think it’s charming, though, and totally perfect for showing off Katat0nik’s new hair. She made it for the Femboy hunt, and it’s the first hair she’s made in three years — and her first mesh hair. (Katat0nik is so cute, telling us not to laugh at her adorable hair in her Flickr ad.) It’s so cute I even dug out Comic Sans for my picture! 😀

The Next Must Have Bikini

Right about the time I think that no more bikinis ever need to be made someone comes along and makes the next one that is absolutely adorable. Anessa Stine has this one available at her shop DCNY and the best part for you is that it’s 50L because it’s part of FLF today! Continue reading

Sim info pending

Today I dressed up in Helena Stringer’s pointy Dreadicorn hair and wandered over to the sim of Skye Neist. I didn’t get to explore much. Truth be told, I lied to myself that I had time before work to take a photo or two, but I was actually kind of wrong. I didn’t have time for that, and ended up short-changing both the photos and my job (*cough* traffic sure was bad today). Still, it was nice to take a mental journey before heading into Normal Land, and this sim was very evocative!

I actually dressed this way so that I could be Gidge’s polar opposite. She bought the white version of this Milk Motion Collabor88 dress, so I had to go demonic. See her pretty crying angelface over here.

Polka Queen or The Joys of a Library Card

jul16_012

I love this top from The Secret Store for this month’s Collabor88 so much. She produced several optiongs, but only one polka dot. Its bright, happy print made me go full polka and I dug out this skirt from Maitreya to wear with it.

Have you ever wondered why a print with dots all over it is called polka dot instead of simply dotted print? Do the textile workers dance while producing the cloth? Allemande left and a dosey doe? I am the type of person who wonders these things, wanting not just to know what something is called, but why? The best source for answers to these kinds of questions is the Oxford English Dictionary to which an individual like me could subscribe for $295/year. On my budget, that is not going to happen.

Enter the public library card. Public libraries in general have gone digital in a big way and allow cardholders to log in and access their digital subscriptions. My library subscribes to the OED (though for a lot more than $295) and all its cardholders can piggy-back their access to use it as freely as if they have their own subscription. They do this with literally hundreds of research and reference sources — just about every major research service you can think of. All for free, all available from your home computer thanks to the wonders of your library card. So let’s find out why it’s called polka dot instead of dotted.

The Truth About Mornings

I wasn’t sure how to start my day after I’d taken the time to get dressed and do my nails. I knew I wanted breakfast but couldn’t decide on what I was willing to bother making.  I’m lazy in both worlds and I’m afraid we both skip breakfast more than we should.

Pixel Gidge decided that cake is breakfast too. It also gives me a chance to show you her new dining room set. Ria Bazar released the Toronto dining set and it’s larger than my old set which, although I loved it, was what I wanted. My linden house seems to be proportioned for back when furniture WAS so much larger and I always feel like huge portions of it are empty. It was about 500 lindens for the whole set, table rug, cabinet, lamp etc – so a STEAL. Continue reading

Why Does the Caged Bird Sing?

Gogo pointed me to a store I hadn’t perused in the past and I discovered a little corner chocked full of what is fun about our Second Lives – Fantasy. Songbird has all sorts of quirky fantasy items from the macabre to the festive.

I do like fantasy and this shop has eyes, tattoo layers and all sorts of things for adding a tweak of the ethereal to your avatar if you’re feeling saucy. Continue reading

A tiny island beset by industry

Rougham (2/3)

I went down to Rougham town (it was in the destination guide),
and when I was down in Rougham town, I saw a man astride
a dragon built of wheels and cogs, snorting industrial steam
a gentleman flying without any wings, weaving industrial dreams.

I came to photo my avatar there, wearing this dress from Wishbox
Fancying to myself that I was marrying an industrial gothic, um, … fox.
That rhymes with box, and in Second Life, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch.
But my rhymes are falling apart and so I bid you all a fair…um. Yeaaaah.

More photos of pretty Rougham and the outfit credits behind the cut.

Labors of Love

jul15_002

The things we do for love…Take this lovely dress made by Monica Outlander of MiaMai. One of the frustrating elements of living with cancer for Squinternet is that she would still love to create, she still has ideas and her imagination is still dancing along the runway of glamour and whimsy. The pain, though, of sitting at the computer and working prevents her from realizing her ideas. Monica understood that frustration as only another artist can and offered herself as an amanuensis for Squinternet’s idea, collaborating with her in creating this first MiaMai for Donna Flora dress – a new release at the Donna Flora store.
