1800 miles due east of Portland is where I grew up – in the Northwoods of Minnesota. It sounds much closer in longitude. Only 26 degrees away. However, here thoughts of spring are in the air. In the courtyard there are some crocuses popping up. There’s a small bed of daffodils blooming alongside the church across the street. My best friends camellias are blooming and there’s pregnant buds on the magnolias. Back home, a blanket of snow covers the ground and it’s a frigid -6 degrees Fahrenheit, that’s -21 to the rest of the world. I am so glad to be here where I can think of spring and put on such a lovely gown as this vernal confection from Lady Thera.
There’s a spider-spun delicacy to Lady Thera’s dresses that sometimes make me think they could only exist in Second Life, though I know a couturier could applique those flowers onto tulle and organza and with scores of hours of handwork and embroidery, it could be possible. I certainly want to show it to its best, so I added the lovely Baiastice Decollete shoes with the perfect combination of shape, simplicity and style.
The lavish embroidery on the bodice and collar makes a necklace unnecessary, but I love how this necklace echoes the line and colors of the collar – making itself almost a part of the dress, not an accessory. The hair is a modern abstract updo from Cake and the makeup is the lusciously romantic Casting line from Baiastice.
