I had this bright idea last night to try to double up on the challenge – producing a literary character to meet Teagan’s challenge and finding some or all of that character’s clothing at Bare Rose. I might have made it, too, if I had not been reading such a darn good book that I missed by bus stop and rode the bus 49 extra blocks before noticing. And to top it off, when I asked the driver if he was turning round, he said it was his last run. So I had to get off the bus and wait for a returning one. I didn’t leave work til nearly 7 so needless to say it was late when I got home. But if you only look at this picture, you might think I succeeded in dressing Nancy Drew at Bare Rose. When I think of Nancy Drew, I think of argyle sweaters and twin sets. Since it’s fall, I chose Argyle in a fabulous Bare Rose fatpack filled with every color in the universe. It’s sold with matching micro-minis but that was too prep school lolita for me.
But this is Not-Quite-Nancy as I realized I should put her in oxfords, not chucks. Sasy Scarborough was very helpful and suggested the oxfords at Shiny Things, though ideally these would be penny loafers – and the penny loafer discussion at Fashion Finds never did land on an in-world source for penny loafers. I was running low on time and energy and besides, I really liked these chucks that I found at LiNe where they are 50% right now. They have 2 or 4 dozen pairs of chucks there in all sorts of super cute colors and styles. These are faily simple white with some cute pink roses on the side. Femme chucks.
The jeans are from Zaara – and I chose them not just because they have wonderfully rich textures, but because they come with a wide leg option that accomodates the ankle part of chucks. Nothing looks sillier than pants with shoes sticking out of them.
The makeupp from Chai is perfect for Not-Quite Nancy Drew – light makeup with no reddish paint on the lips. The earrings are a hunt gift from Twinkleberry made for the opening of Albero sim – my very first freebie hunt. I should have taken off the lashes, for a more youthful look, but sleepy me didn’t even think of it. So here we have Not Quite Nancy and Bare Rose – and a faint attempt to meet two challenges at once.
