Halloween 2011 – Retro Vampire, Very Retro

For the It’s Only Fashion Halloween soiree I decided to be a very retro vampire. Think Louis the 15th. I’m saying Louis the 15th simply because my hair doesn’t have boats and birds and crap in it, which I identify more with Louis the 16th.

It’d been so long since we had a party, and as always Cajsa had an awesome playlist set up for us.

I’m using FILTERCAM2 in the pic above to age the shot and provide the vignette lighting around me. It’s a simple effect but using filtercam2 lets me add effects and cuts down on my post processing work, which is minimal usually. The new expansion pack is pretty amazing, tons of new awesome filters – I can’t wait to show off lots of what it can do.

Now, it’s dinner time.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

A Fabbie for Inara Pey

It's Only Fabulous

And the Fabbie goes to Inara Pey!

I followed a link to a travel story on Inara Pey’s blog and on a whim clicked on her Tutorials and Help tab and found the most amazing collection of tutorials. These are not the more common tutorials on how to take better pictures. These are tutorials on how to have a better experience in Second Life@ and are full of things I did not know.

For example, there’s a tutorial on handy changes you can make in Debug Settings. Have you ever been editing something and slipped and had run around trying to find that prim you sent off into outer space? There’s a  debug setting that lets you limit how far you can move prims while editing – so you can make sure they stay within reach. Conversely, you can increase the length you can move prims so you can move your house from one side of your land to another in one move. How do you do that? I’m not going to tell you because I want you to go to Inara Pey’s blog, Living in a Modern World, Thoughts on Virtual Living and discover not just that but dozens of tips that will make your Second Life experience more pleasant. There’s even a solution for the constant rebaking that just drives me nuts. Can’t wait to try it out.

Katat0nik's Malice outfit...

Know what you’re going to be for Halloween yet? I had the luck of snagging two of Katat0nik’s limited edition Malice V. 2 dresses, remade. What’s funny is that this isn’t really my costume, I dress like this all the time 8D. They are out in her shop at present, and would make a fine Halloween costume for those who don’t simply wear this every day… These LE dresses are available until November 6th. And if you haven’t gotten your group gift from Katat0nik, go pick that up too! (SLURL to Katat0nik)

I had ducked out of the rain
Into Maria’s wedding day
And I sat there with her friends
And with her family
And I was happy

I wasn’t someone they’d invite
Because I didn’t know the groom
Or know the bride
But when I stood next to her brother
For the photograph
He was laughing

Starlust Trick or Treat!

Starlust trick or treat stuff!!Little-known fact, I used to blog for SL Free*Style, and think they are awesome. I still have an eye for free items, and because of this I thought I’d point out the awesome quality of the items at today’s Starlust Trick or Treat event. I’m wearing a sweet sweater from Pig in Halloween colors, makeup and earrings from Schadenfreude, shorts and socks from ~silentsparrow~, and I feel so pretty! My hair is also free from the Calico Ingmann Creations pumpkin hunt, and my skin is free from the Frick pumpkin hunt. There are so many great gifts for us this season, thank you so much, creators! Haut.Monde Ghost Dress Made SPOOOKY By FILTERCAM2

Haut Monde has released some Halloween themed fun. If you are a fan of the tight sweater dresses released not too long ago (I am) you’ll love the festival Halloween themed ghost dress. It’s silly fun which is the best kind, in my mind. Continue reading

Black and orange with impugnity

Mmmm

I love Halloween for so many reasons, but one of them is Calico Ingmann Creations’ Halloween hair hunt. Calico makes four Halloween hair colorings of some of her popular hair, and then sets them out around the sim for an amazing hunt. This year there are 29 styles to choose from, and some even have special Halloween huds for streaks and flowers and such! [ SLURL to CIC ]

Collecting the Fall

“It is perhaps a more fortunate destiny to have a taste for collecting shells than to have been born a millionaire.”

~Robert Louis Stevenson

I am making up for lost time this autumn, in that I’m collecting everything I can get my hands on which is fall related and doing seasonal decorating as though there is no tomorrow. I’m not sure exactly who it is for but it’s making me happy so who cares.

I have added fall decorations indoors and out and I have to admit I’m pretty pleased with myself all in all.

This coat from Leri Miles designs caught my attention the moment I put it on, I’m ready for a reason to wear a dressy coat. I do like this one because it’s color change in all it’s parts and you can choose to tone down the brightness of the brooch. Continue reading
