Winter Rolled In

It’s cold suddenly this morning. I’m not sure where it came from, other than NORTH but I’m going to have to reconsider my current wardrobe and possibly go shopping.

Oh dear. The struggle, it IS real.

Happy Sunday Pretties !

Seeking Validation

Everyone has their own method for naming their products in Second Life. I tend to go to the WORD OF THE DAY from OXFORD or WEBSTER. Sometimes folks on PLURK will head over there and say “HELP ME NAME THIS PRODUCT.” That happened on the 29th, as I sat in McDonalds. Lindsey Warwick sent up the call for help naming a new pair of shoes.

I was sitting in McDonalds. I took a look at my receipt, and answered her with the first word I saw. VALIDATION. YAY ME SHE LIKED IT! Continue reading

Layering

140919_003

Ghee has all sorts of knits and woolens for layering in rich jewel tones and foundation neutrals that make for great cold-weather fashion. I particularly love this tunic with a long cowl sweater. Underneath I am wearing ghee’s thermals that come in great colors and which I would recommend as investment purchases except for one big hurdle – they have no Slink Physique appliers which is becoming a deal breaker for things like tights, leggings and layering sweaters.

Please Come to Boston

140913_002

Dave Loggins wrote “Please come to Boston” which opens with a plea to his love to travel to Boston in the springtime. She refuses, telling him to come home to her. It is a lovely ballad of frustrated love between a rambling man and a homebody. Of course, I think his timing is wrong. He should have asked her to Denver in the spring and to Boston in the fall, not the other way around. Boston and its environs are so beautiful in the fall. And then she would could have worn wonderfully classic sweaters like this argyle from Gizza aptly names Boston. There is also a coordinating skirt and collar and the outfit comes in many styles from this classic argyle to stylized baroque a la McQueen.

A very, very fine house

My House

from left to right: [we’re CLOSED] summer flowers and shrubs, Silver Birch from Studio Skye, Lark – Desert Retreat Deck – Painted, [ba] hollyhocks, Trompe Loeil – Brooklyn Carriage , Sway’s [Door Mat] international, [we’re CLOSED] tree 01D spring

I do not move houses very often in Second Life® or in real life. It is just too much work. However, when the Brooklyn Carriage House came out at Collabor88 last month, I could not resist its bright red doors and fine brickwork. I finally have everything arranged, but will be moving shortly. I thought I would share before I pack it all up. I love the house and how it looks, but I guess my four year old computer really cannot handle such an open floor plan where everything fezzes all the time. I need rooms and walls that limit the textures my computer has to handle, so I will be on my way to a more traditional space. That is totally a reflection of my computer’s age and is no criticism of the house – which is gorgeous, very, very gorgeous.

My outdoor decor is pretty limited, just a few shrubs and bushes from We’re Closed, a couple trees and the gorgeous deck from Lark that was released at The Liaison Collaborative a few month’s back.

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

Snapshot_018

The Old Astronomer is not a very good poem, but it does end well. Stars were on my mind thanks to the adorable Lootia shirts from Somnia for My Slink Obsession. Sanura Snowpaw of Somnia may have my head for how I am wearing it though. The shirts are actually long-sleeved, but I chose to wear them on my Slink Physique and then opted to not apply the sleeves for a tank top instead. A surprise benefit to wearing appliers – or an unintended consequence if you don’t like it, I suppose.

Snapshot_020

I wore the top with a grey denim skirt from Mai Bilavio who is also a creator for Vive9. While I was a My Slink Obsession, I also found some great nails from Licked & Painted and Adore & Abhor. I tag all my pictures on Flickr with the store names. If it’s more than one word, I have to put quotes around the store name. That makes me wish for more one word store names.

Is an Aardvark an Anteater?

I don’t know. I used to think they were. Now I think I’m wrong. But I don’t know I’m wrong. What I do know is that Mutresse has anteaters at THE ARCADE. Mine likes to do fashion shoots with me. What a versatile creature.  She’s only a few accessories away from fashion blogger, I swear. Continue reading

Radioactive

I’m waking up to ash and dust.
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust.
I’m breathing in the chemicals.

Radioactive

It might seem odd when I say that one of my favourite things is the apocalypse.

I love the books, the music and the whole genre. So when Uber announced that this round had an apocalypse theme I may have squealed, just a little. The designers? Well, they certainly didn’t let me down.

Starting from the top is hair by Truth. It comes with both a smooth and messy style and multiple colours per pack, all changeable by HUD. The gas mask also comes with the hair in black and chrome with optional steam. I love options. Truth hasn’t failed me.

The lingerie comes with options too. It’s from Baiastice at the Uber event and is mesh. The options are net (like the panties) or full (like the bra). Of course, I had to mix and match.

The fit, in my case small, was perfect without even needing an alpha. This is a big plus for me as I always find that I end up adding multiple alphas by accident. Not a huge issue, but an annoyance when changing. The texturing and mesh itself are just as I would expect from such a big name. Definitely going to be one of my favourite sets.

Until next time, I’m going to get down to the armory. This girl needs a gun before the zombies come.
