Shape Up for the New Year

“A Novel, in the end, is a container, a shape into which you are trying to pour your story into.”
~Helen Dunmore

I do admit I was very resistant to getting a new shape last year because I’d had mine forever and I love it and it was MEEEE and yadda yadda yadda.

But then, I tried on my shape made by Hybie of Savoir Faire (and our newest contributor here at IOF) and I fell in love. It’s amazing what a difference a shape made by someone with a brilliant eye for proportion and a great fashion sense can make. Continue reading

Dolly In Exile

She knew it from the start…there was no one who loved this little dolly. One day she was just thrown away and forgotten about. It wasn’t such a horrible tragedy, she dusted herself off and vowed to eventually find a new home. For now, she roams from village to village and from the shadows watches all the little girl’s cuddling their dollies. One day she will be loved……..one day.

So, dive into the world of SEO and watch your blog soar to new heights!

A few months ago, Gidge did an intro to marketing for bloggers seeking to get the world out about their blog on different social networks. That social network marketing is a critical portion of marketing your blog, particularly in its first few months before it gets added to any feeds. Once you have some history, though, it’s time to start taking additional steps.

Blog Consistently

People will get in the habit of checking your blog regularly if you blog consistently. This does not have to be everyday. It can even be just once a week, but then make sure you do blog once a week, not once this week and four times three weeks later. Make it habitual so people can count on you. If they visit your blog three times without finding new content, they will quit visiting.

Getting Syndicated.

Once you have been blogging for three months or so, it is time to apply to be added to feeds.  A feed aggregates posts from multiple web sites so people can look at the single feed instead of going to multiple websites. Most feeds will not add a blog that does not have 6 weeks or longer of sustained, regular blog posts.

Following Your Beliefs

I think it’s important to have beliefs and personal moral tenets by which you live. I for one believe a few basic things.

I believe it’s wrong to treat people badly.
I believe you shouldn’t kill people or steal.
I believe in the value of friendship.
and…more to the point of this post, I do in fact believe it’s wrong to wear real fur.

Now, that being said, man, fur is BEAUTIFUL. It’s beauty doesn’t outweigh the suffering and treatment of the animals who die to give it to us. So pretty much, unless you’re still an indigenous, native, primitive type people, you probably shouldn’t be wearing fur.
I think fake fur, however is awesome. Since it’s made of horrible chemicals it’ll never age, and could absolutely be passed on from generation to generation, like china or crystal. No animal died or suffered to give it to us, and we get the beauty without the cruelty.

In the world of real life, I believe firmly that as a modern person I shouldn’t wear any animal I won’t eat. I eat cow thus I wear leather made from cows. If I eat it, I’d wear it most likely. Chicken might not be so pretty. I digress.

When the ridiculous brouhaha over PIXEL fur popped up the first thing I had to do was BUY it, because, the drama is so silly it hurts me. But, in order not to be a hypocrite I decided to keep to my own rules.

It was really difficult to get this into this pot by the way. It was however, delicious.

Awwwww. I am a messy eater.

Seriously, pixel fur. Love it. Make more.

No fashion details. Just delicious fox.

Seeking The Sun

Despite the fact that I hail from a place that is grey, cold and damp about six months of the year, I find myself drawn towards sun and the gorgeous builds that remind of warmer climates.

It is only fitting then that I tweak the windlight, while visiting SolAria and let this Mediterranean village shine at me. Continue reading

A Weekend Off

My Second Life turned into chaos and ruin about a week ago so I decided to say fuck it and went on a little SL Vacay.  But rather than being gone and then returning going ALL IS WELL DING DONG SOUND THE ALARM I parked my AV at a little Christmas village and logged in occasionally to do something random.

Like make snow angels. Continue reading
