Distance lends discretion, so I am beginning my post with a full body shot instead of the usual three-quarter photo I usually use. My blouse is a bit sheer and revealing and so closer, more detailed photos are below the cut on behalf of those who might be taking a peek while at work. I am repurposing a lovely lingerie bodysuit from Luxuria because as Reiss Field once said, “Everything is fair in love, war, and fashion.” Continue reading →
Henry Green was talking about editing and writing when he said, “The more you leave out, the more you highlight what you leave in.” The truth of that statement, though, applies to fashion as well as writing or any other kind of art. That is why I enjoy wonderfully restrained minimalist design like you get from ISON & Rowne. These pieces are from a showcase collection that will be taken off the market after September 30th, so go to ISON as soon as you can.
W.H. Auden wrote in his collection of prose essays, The Dyer’s Hand, ““Every man carries within him through life a mirror, as unique and impossible to get rid of as his shadow.” Then he went on to suggest a good parlor game would be to look at different people and imagine the kinds of mirrors they might be carrying. One might be carrying a gilt baroque hand mirror, another a small compact mirror in a leather case, each of them, carrying mirrors that by design and dimension reveal their character.
I don’t know want my unique mirror would look like. I have one mirror that I purchased that goes over my dresser. It’s huge and heavy and requires two people to shift, framed in a beautiful dark cherry but free of ornamentation or embellishments. That is the kind of mirror I chose to buy, but does it reveal anything about me other than I dislike dusting? I don’t know. Continue reading →
I love boutiques and bargains, but I feel like I may have in fact taken a wrong turn today. This just doesn’t look right. Once I took directions from a zombie in Gatlinburg and it took me hours and hours to get home. I feel like once again, I may have been mislead by one of the undead.
While doing some practice runs for the big day, the reindeer had a little accident. You can see Donner up in the tree and Blitzen is obviously blitzed, just look at the vacant expression on his face. I am not sure he even knows what happened yet. I stopped by to survey the damage, but no one was seriously hurt. I am sure there is time to repair the sleigh by Christmas. I only hope those packages were empty samples and didn’t have anything fragile in them.
What does one wear to a sleigh accident? Why a nice warm wool dress and a beautiful wool scarf, of course. The dress if from Thalia Heckroth and the scarf is part of a hair plus scarf combo from Rowne for Collabor88. It comes with a HUD to change the scarf textures so there is plenty of choices available. I do not pay a lot of attention to the Hot 100 as most of the songs recently seem to have Idol-itis – overproduced and full of melisma. However, someone on plurk mentioned having All About that Bass stuck in her head so I was curious and listened to it. I was surprised by its retro doo woo sound and was happy that such a positive body image song was leading the charts. Pop music popularity is dominated by the tweens, so the song’s popularity makes me optimistic about “kids today.”
