I got in before the rain but I’m tired! Collabor88 this month is jam packed for of goodies, and it’s almost Valentine’s day which is nothing but AWESOME to me.

I don’t get the Valentine’s hate some people throw. While I am married in RL, I don’t have a significant other in SL. That doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it and celebrate it in SL! If I didn’t have a husband or boyfriend (or girlfriend) in RL – I always celebrated it with my friends, telling them I love them and enjoying a day meant to celebrate love (and Hallmark Cards). Like most Americans, I celebrated Thanksgiving with wonderful food and the company of people I love. I spent the day with my best friend and her family and called and chatted with my family. I was sitting at the table watching my friend’s mother-in-law putting some of my warm brussels sprouts salad on her plate when I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me – gratitude for having such good friends and the pleasure of such good food and such plenty.

In RL I don’t think I own a stitch of orange clothing and to be honest, I don’t own much of it in SL but when I saw these adorable and cheap skirts and tops from  *CoKo* at the Okinawa Summer Festival, I just couldn’t pass it up. Don’t let the vendor fool you, they are actually textured really nice.

When I rezzed the Scarlet Creative Stargazer house in the sand, it immediately brought to mind the unforgettable house from Giant in the way it sat alone and defiant without any plants or trees to soften its edges and settle it into the environment.

This made me think of another great film inspired by the original, Robert Altman’s Come Back to the Five & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. I may be branded a heretic for all time for this, but I much prefer the underrated Altman film to the much-honored classic that inspired it.

I think it was the performance by Sandy Dennis that made this film so memorable for me. It was the first time I had seen her in a film and she blew me away. I know the Stargazer house is much smaller and not as quaintly Victorian, but I am sure you can see how I made the connection.

The Drama Train Never Stops On Sunday

There is something to be said for Sundays away from the computer. You miss a lot of name calling and raging and shenanigans. It seems like, on Sundays, our friends are unable to defend themselves and require us to rage against people that they may or may not be mad at. It also seems like, everything and everyone can’t just like, don’t worry be happy.

I however, opt for the latter. I made jello. Jello is, in my belief, one of the finest treats around. I am considering making something that I am told Australians love, Fairy Bread. I don’t know yet, that’s a maybe. Continue reading →

I am just home from a long day at the hospital for some tests, so this will be short and sweet. The dress is a gorgeous easily draped long shift with an easy bateau neckline.
