I’m a huge fan of Trompe Loeil houses. I tend to get in one house, however, and stay it in for quite a while. I decorate like mad and I just can’t stand having to start over again. I liked this winter lodge Trompe Loeil released recently, but from my first glace I thought “Oh it’s not for me but I’ll blog it.”

Then I stood inside it.

Sometimes the magic is in the light. Sometimes the view is what takes your breath away and you realize that if you woke up every day with the sun pouring into these windows, you’d feel the warmth of that pixel ball even though such a thing is impossible. Continue reading →

The Secret Store released a luscious skirt and top at Collabor88 in a wide range of colors. Fashions have become increasingly risque, with transparent fabrics and laces over opaque pieces that would have been lingerie a decade ago. It is one of those fashions that require discernment on the part of designers as it can easily veer toward overexposure and bad taste. In the sure and certain hands of Maylee Oh, though, it is on trend without crossing that line into tacky. How does she avoid the pitfalls? The waist is high enough to cover the navel and the cut of the legs are not too “cheeky.” The bra top is not so skimpy that there is any risk of nip slips and other exposure. This outfit reveals without exposing.

Nightmare into Art

I don’t have a lot of fears and phobias. In fact, I can assuredly say my list of these things is very short. But one thing that I struggle with is the horror show that is OCTOPUS.  This creature of the sea is one of the few recurring childhood nightmares that I can recall. Sing My Camel Song

So I’m a sucker for the silly things that RC Cluster makes, I always have been they are never things you NEED but there I am buying them up anyway. Much like “MUST” isn’t a word for princes, I find that “NEED” isn’t a word for SL.

For Fifty Linden Friday, that old Dinosaur weekly of awesome, she’s got out ROMANCE NOVELS.

Because, we need those right?

The answer is obviously, fuck yes we need them. Duh.

But this is where the fun starts.  I pop over there and plop down my 50L because I’m a grown avatar and spend my money where I want.  I look at the titles. Passionate Stranger, okay that’s par for the course. I bet he’s a rough type, with a heart of gold. The first time will be rapey but that will be ok because later when she falls in love she’ll forgive him. Right? That’s how these go I think. I’m pretty sure that’s it.

The next title is Down on the Farmhand, and I think we all know what that’s about. This time she’s got hinged heels. My mom used to say that all the time when referring to women of ill repute. Finally one day I asked her what that mean, “hinged heels”. My mother looked over her reading glasses and said to me in a calm voice, “She goes down easy.”

I’m still recovering from that conversation.

The next title though, nearly killed me.

“SING MY CAMEL SONG” – I was howling. I nearly ripped my SLINK body in two howling hysterically. SING MY CAMEL SONG? WHAT IS THIS ABOUT? Why do camels have a song? WATRUDOING REDD????? I was so confused and suddenly I desperately wanted to read this book.

Oh.

“Sing my CARNAL song”. OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well that makes more sense now doesn’t it?

I’m blonde. Let me alone. If I weren’t silly and wrong half the time I’d confuse the entire grid.

At least I’ve got my reading sorted for this evening!

Afternoon on a Hill

I will be the gladdest thing Under the sun! I will touch a hundred flowers And not pick one.

Edna St. Vincent Millay was not thinking of textiles when she wrote, “I will touch a hundred flowers and not pick one,” but nonetheless, when I put on this dress from NOIR for Collabor88, I immediately thought of her poem, “Afternoon on a Hill” perhaps because of that line, but also perhaps because it describes so well, the joy and contentment a person can find in nature.

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!

i’m feeling a dreamy sort of contentment swathed in teal today. It’s one of my favorite colors and it fell out of favor for so long, I’m glad to see it’s return.

Blueberry bring us a perfect casual skirt set for Collabor88 this month, and I’m in love with my new Updo (I have two new ones yay) this one is from D!VA. I love the Moonstone shade of blonde she makes. What’s your favorite?

2018 is off to a rocky start with a five-day stay at the hospital. I am home again, thankfully, and recovering. Oddly enough, though, I seem to have picked up vertigo at the hospital. I know you can’t do that, but I did anyway. So the world is a spinny, dizzy, silly place. It’s really odd. I can turn to the left just fine, but turning to the right makes me dizzy. I see political implications in this. Turning to the right is bad for you.

What’s not bad for you? The refulgent abundance of this month’s fabulous Collabor88 showcase. The theme is Moody Blooms, a clever pun that is overshadowed by the rich, lush, floral blossoming of creativity to enjoy this month. For example, this gorgeous dress from Baiastice has a HUD that allows you to choose solids or the gorgeous floral lace. I love the luxe beauty. There’s this homage to medieval forms with the lines of the bodice. I love the lace peplum, though it’s more flattering than the usual peplum by laying close to the body rather than adding lots of width.
