It cracks me up that Gidge was attracted to the same dress from Ambrosia at the Kurenai event. Not identical, though since she chose pink and I chose green which is kind of automatic for us if you think about it. I love the frilly romanticism that goes so over the top it becomes exactly right. Kind of like camp, if you do it, you can’t do just a little.
I have no explanation for why there are baby seals on my platform. They are far above any source of water but they appeared, they were cute, I let them stay, and so here they are. They were made my MishMash, can be found at Collabor88, and they are too cute to care if they have no rationale for being here.

Fashion Cannot Be Eclipsed
Collabor88’s theme for its August Birthday celebration is Plastic Fantastic. In my first life, I would not be caught dead wearing plastic, but this is not first life. Here I don’t have to worry about whether fabrics breathe and my avatar does not sweat, so there are no fetid swamps of trapped and suffocating skin. Instead, we have the bright, shiny flash of plastic. I like the dress from Baiastice that takes advantage of plastics best qualities to give us that flirty hem and gleaming sheen.

If Life Gives You Bandanas, Make Bandanda Day
Lelutka’s Bandanda Day contributions to Hair Fair are always a work of art. Bandana Day is always the last day of Hair Fair to remind us, after celebrating our crowning glory for two glorious weeks, that sometimes people lose their hair for a host of reasons. The purpose of Hair Fair, despite how we may feel, is not just about making us look good, it’s about prompting us to do good with our shopping dollars, to raise money for Wigs For Kids. So Bandana Day is a reminder, there’s a more serious underlying purpose than just making us look good.
There’s a Boat That’s Leaving Soon for New York
One of my favorite songs ever is “There’s a Boat That’s Leaving Soon for New York” from Porgy and Bess as sung by Phoebe Snow. This promenade on Staten Island made me think of the song. To be honest, lots of things make me think of this song. It’s on my iPod and I play it frequently. Her voice was amazing and she was a heroic woman.
There’s a boat that’s leaving soon for New York
Come with me
That’s where we belong, baby
You and me can live that high life in New York
Come with me
There we can’t go wrong, baby

Fabsolutely Fun Fashion
Anemysk Kara just showed this blouse she is releasing at Vintage Fair and I just fell in love with its fabstract design. I love the combination of old-fashioned and hyper-modern. The front and the sleeves are so very traditional, then it’s cropped and has an open back. From front to back is a two hundred time travel jump and a brilliant play on form. It’s sold in three packs: plain (vibrant, saturated colors), patterns (prints and florals), and silk (pastels).
I combined it with a fun, cheeky belted skirt from Baiastice which you can find at Collabor88. Frankly, I was so indecisive, I could see the top with pencil skirts, cigarette pants, a mini-skirt, high-waisted bell bottoms, or just about anything. The slim silhouette of a pencil skirt of cigarette pant would be sophisticated, but I thought this cheeky option would be fabsolutely fashion fun.
I shot my pictures at One Tree Hill, a Linden Endowment of the Arts sim. It’s probably based on the show I have never watched, but I loved the nostalgia of the sim.

“The trouble with simple living is that, though it can be joyful, rich, and creative, it isn’t simple.”
Thalia Heckroth™ has made minimalism and simplicity her design signature. But just as Doris Janzen Longacre was correct when talking about simple living not being simple, minimalist design is just as deceptively complex. Embellishment is easy, structure is hard. Look at the structure on this gorgeously simple dress. Look at the bodice and the way the sleeves are inset. This is a deceptive form of simplicity that is the hallmark of good design. I decided to go for pink, out of the many color choices this dress comes in. I was tired. Pink wakes me up.
“In this world of numbness and information overload, the ability to feel is a rare gift indeed.”
