I’m pretty excited as we’re heading right into the holiday season full steam ahead. In the US we have Thanksgiving tomorrow which is in fact THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS no matter what the scrooges say. I am back at Furillen, the bleak and desolate sim replicating a limestone quarry and luxury hotel off Sweden’s coast. It’s bleak and spare and there is an austere beauty that makes it compelling. There is nothing austere, however, about me today.
Siddean Munro has released her newest mesh body, the Slink Physique Hourglass, a body for the curvilinear, the well-endowed Mae Wests and the wasp-waisted Dollys and Scarletts. Standard mesh will not fit because there is nothing standard about Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth or any of the other bombshells whose curves defined female beauty far centuries.
Women who opt for the Hourglass figure will have to wear appliers or specially made clothing, though certainly many clothing designers will rush to serve this market. Blueberry, whose dress I am wearing in these pictures, is among the first and even gifted all purchasers of the Hourglass Physique with a free bikini in the mesh body’s packaging from Slink.

I love the sweater and skirt from ur favorite one (u.f.o.) for Collabor88. They come in a wide range of colors and have a hint of fall, but are still lightweight and open for summer. Perfect transition clothing for September. That big knit bow is perfection.

Even though there were few people awake when i visited the Hair Fair sims during the blogger preview, I dressed for a crowd. I wore just a hairbase, my default avatar, no shoes and this lovely little romper from Tee*fy. Of course, once I went back home, I jumped back into my mesh body and added some shoes, hair and accessories, because, well, I felt naked without my mesh body. What struck me as incredibly funny, though, is that I ran into four other bloggers who were wearing this romper, obviously having the same idea as me. The nice thing was that everyone was wearing a different print, thanks to the amazing quantity of prints and colors that Azure Electricteeth produced for Collabor88 this month.
I wondered what possible new thing Sasy, Mel and Whimsy could come up with for this year’s Hair Fair. What could top those boxes of hair dye from last year? Well, this time the stores are giant shopping bags. There are also a few spills of shopping bags scattered around, you can even walk inside them. There are huge lipstick displays, too. I do love a full, wide, pouffy skirt with layers of petticoats. It can have its disadvantages. I was wearing several layers of petticoats under a skirt at a barn dance once. I was sitting out a butterfly on some hay bales one night and a mouse ran across the hay and up the skirt, between the layers of petticoats. What with the netting being very nice for the mouse to grasp and the many layers to try to shake him out of, I must have spent 10 minutes jumping up and down on a hay bale trying to shake him loose.
Of course, no mouse would dare come within striking distance of these spiked heels from Glamistry. They might be too dangerous for the speed of barn-dancing. Imagine stepping on someone’s toe. Fortunately, in Second Life® we do not have such banal concerns and I can wear my lethal weapon shoes without a care.
I began this outfit with the gorgeous Carrie skirt with the Black Rose print. It comes in several other prints, including beautifully feminine florals. However, I fell in love with the geometry of this print the minute I saw it. It is visually striking and makes such a powerful statement. I can imagine is with a massive shoulder piece of feathers for some gala, but for a walk on the beautiful streets of Venice, something less formal and avant garde seemed in order.

Regular readers of It’s Only Fashion will have missed us for the last two days. We had a corrupted database. From what I understand, it took a package from a North Korean agent in a black wool coat and dark glasses. Of course, anyone else would have known the agent was suspicious because it’s something like 90° and he’s wearing a black wool coat. Our database, however, was naive and unsuspecting. I hope it has learned its lesson.
Perhaps though, like Thomas Bailey Aldrich, it was distracted by two petals falling from a rose:
MY mind lets go a thousand things,

I am loving this side wrap dress from Ison. It comes in several summer colors as well as a few prints. I opted for this lovely blue, one of my favorite colors as I believe you can tell looking at the cabin and furnishings.
I fell in love with the {anc} broken chair at Collabor88. In particular, I thought the animations and poses were extraordinarily well done. I took a lot of pictures of the poses and will post smaller pictures of them. I added some lovely lacey lingerie from Luxuria. I love how the lace is an abstract representation of roses. Luxuria’s lingerie comes with all the layers for clothing as well as appliers for Slink and Maitreya. This picture also shows off the lovely necklace from LaGyo.
The lighting is not photoshopped. I used the Dark Ambient windlight setting that comes with the standard Firestorm collection. The lighting comes from the Pilot candles and the half-deer curtains. I also used one self-made projector prim.

NYU’s tapered pants and vested shirt are two separate pieces available at Xiasumi School. The top has a HUD allowing you to choose between six colors for the shirt. The pants come in two versions, one to wear with this vested top and the other to wear with other items. They come in several colors. I chose to wear black with the pinstripe, instead of matching exactly.
I do not worry very much. Worry does not prevent mishaps or change outcomes; at least not for the better. It can only make things worse, distracting us from getting things done, making our minds race with one fret after another. The heroic Corrie Ten Boom had this to say about worry, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it robs today of its strength.”
