Been there, done that, messed around
I’m having fun, don’t put me down
I’ll never let you sweep me off my feet
I won’t let you in again

Accessorize With DeezCatz
It’s always nice when Collabor88 opens, and nicer when it’s a Prom and they can invite guests. This round I’m ECSTATIC because Pink Fuel is there and not only that….she released LELTUKA appliers. She’s made them for Simone, however I’m wearing them on Aria. I’m a rebel. Continue reading
Quantum Fashion
The detectors don’t induce the phenomenon of wave function collapse; conscious observation does. Consciousness is like this giant roving spotlight, collapsing reality wherever it shines—and what isn’t observed remains probability. And it’s not just photons or electrons. It is everything. All matter…A testable, repeatable fault in reality.”
Ted Kosmatka – The Flicker Men
I am reading The Flicker Men, a book that could easily swallow you whole with its mind-bending sci-fi exploration of the implications of quantum physics. It starts with real science, with Feynman’s Double Slit Experiment that proves the duality of light. Light is both wave and particle. Actually, just one year ago, researchers were able to photograph the first picture of light as particle and wave at the same time. It’s a cool picture.
But then there is also the Observer Effect. The act of observing changes reality on the quantum level, including changing light from waves to particles in the Double Slit Experiment. The Flicker Men considers what that means in terms of understanding consciousness. It leads to our poor researchers being kidnapped, beaten, even killed because the implications of their research threaten our understanding of how the world works. I hope folks think about reading it – not just because the author makes the science pretty easy, but because it should provoke fascinating conversations.

To Make an End Is to Make a Beginning
I stopped by Eternal Flame, a sim with a spare, ascetic ambiance of bitter winter, because it will be closed to the public soon. It made me think of T.S. Eliot’s Little Gidding, part of his Four Quartets that secured for him the Nobel Prize in Literature. He wrote this after his conversation and the poem itself is very much a religious poem, but much of it still speaks to me.
When the short day is brightest, with frost and fire,
The brief sun flames the ice, on pond and ditches,
In windless cold that is the heart’s heat,
Reflecting in a watery mirror
A glare that is blindness in the early afternoon.
And glow more intense than blaze of branch, or brazier,
Stirs the dumb spirit: no wind, but pentecostal fire
In the dark time of the year. Between melting and freezing
The soul’s sap quivers. There is no earth smell
Or smell of living thing. This is the spring time
But not in time’s covenant. Now the hedgerow
Is blanched for an hour with transitory blossom
Of snow, a bloom more sudden
Than that of summer, neither budding nor fading,
Not in the scheme of generation.
Where is the summer, the unimaginable Zero summer?
The poem seems apt for this bright and sunny New Year’s Day, especially the lines from the second section of the poem, “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.” Do I have a new language for this new year? I wonder…
8 Years Later
This blog has existed now for 8 years. That’s a long time in SL blogger world, probably even longer in SL Fashion Blogger world. I forget sometimes why we’re considered part of the old guard, until I look through the feeds and don’t know who the hell anyone is.
I’m glad we’re still here, and I’m glad you are too. I don’t know what we’ll be doing in the next year, but I suspect shoes, hair, earrings and clothes will be part of it. And skins, don’t forget skins.
Thanks for reading us all these years.
That bear is strategically placed because I’m not wearing panties and HEY- YO yeah, vagina.

We Meet Again Sewing Machine…
Yesterday I played. I logged in and Sasy, Whimsy and Mavi were making the rounds of the big shopping events and so instead of settling in for some serious work I went FA LA LA LA LA shopping. I couldn’t help it. SHOPPING WITH THE GIRLS IS MORE FUN. After we had emptied all the events of all the items worth having (which was all of them from what I could tell) I had to run off and they went on to further adventures. Continue reading
Easier Than Raptors
I’m trying to assert my dominance over the local reindeer but so far I’ve only got one willing to work with me here. Even so, one is better than none. I just wish the one blocking my mailbox would move his big butt. Continue reading
So this is how liberty dies… with thunderous applause.
The Instruments monthly showcase is featuring designs inspired by Star Wars this month. Among the designs, you will find this fabulous gown inspired by Padme’s outfit in Episode Three. Padme’s lament, “So this is how liberty dies… with thunderous applause.” seems particularly apt at this time when crowds of people applaud the creation of databases to track people because of their ethnicity and armed vigilance committees march outside mosques and call themselves patriots. I guess those people have not studied history (or watched Star Wars), a tabula rasa of ignorance on which the future of tyranny is being written. Of course, the Force is with us all to resist tyranny by resisting fear. We know what happens when fear inspires hate. It has happened before and if we fail to learn from that, we have only ourselves to blame.
I stopped at Winter Moon for the photos, since the dress is black and white, I thought black and white pictures would be great. By the way, I think the scarf that is part of the Padme dress may work well with other outfits. The Padme outfit includes the dress, scarf and sleeves that I am wearing as well as a crown, earrings and rings that I am not.
