If Life Gives You Bandanas, Make Bandanda Day

Bandana Day @ Hair Fair 2017

Lelutka’s Bandanda Day contributions to Hair Fair are always a work of art. Bandana Day is always the last day of Hair Fair to remind us, after celebrating our crowning glory for two glorious weeks, that sometimes people lose their hair for a host of reasons. The purpose of Hair Fair, despite how we may feel, is not just about making us look good, it’s about prompting us to do good with our shopping dollars, to raise money for Wigs For Kids. So Bandana Day is a reminder, there’s a more serious underlying purpose than just making us look good.

Eponymous Me & Cockfosters

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

So, I was considering what to wear on this subway. I really didn’t want anything ridiculous revealing. Something I would hope not be accosted in is what I was thinking. I remembered this gorgeous dress Cecelia Petion had posted on Plurk, so I unpacked the Poppy blogger box for June and saw the box inside had a dress named Cajsa. OMG! What could this be? Then when I unpacked it, it was the dress I remembered from Plurk…I just about did handstands. I would have if I had an animation handy. This struck me as the apotheosis of Second Life serendipity. They way things just fall into place.

The Heavenly Spheres make music for us,

The Heavenly Spheres make music for us,

The Poetry of the Spheres are on display at LEA4 – a celebration of music and poetry in a pastoral setting with lovely ancient ruins. From the description of the sim:

Legend has it that the Ancient Gods of the Greeks have abandoned this realm, but evidence of their existence can be found above, in celestial spheres. These signs and symbols, both direct and abstract, are also reflected in Gustav Holst’s 1918 orchestral suite, The Planets, Op 32.

You can explore each of the seven movements, representing the corresponding planets, by teleporting from the Olympus Island up to that particular sphere:

Mars, the Bringer of War
Venus, the Bringer of Peace
Mercury, the Winged Messenger
Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity
Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age
Uranus, the Magician
Neptune, the Mystic

There you will find a music link station for the appropriate movement – click on it to open a link to the music so you can play it on your browser while you explore. Most of the symphonic movements are less than 10 minutes long, and the symphony in entire is less than 45 minutes long.

Remembrance of Poses Past

Missing Posemakers of Days PastI saw a great fashion spread featuring Dominique Tipper in 1843 Magazine a friend brought over because we share a love of The Expanse. All the pictures were composites of the same clothing in different poses, though very different from this one. They all had black backgrounds and vibrantly colored prints. Still, it did inspire me to shoot some pics for a couple composites. Back when my SL inventory was hyper-organized, I filled a couple pose stands by type of pose rather than by pose-maker. Sit and lie poses all organized together. I decided to drag them out and realize that most of the pose-makers in the stands have closed up shop for one reason or another. Among those of us who have blogged for a few years (nine years for It’s Only Fashion), who does not miss the excellent and puntastic poses from Long Awkward Pose or the flash of recognition when seeing a celebrity-inspired iconic pose from Striking Poses?

Missing Pacemakers of Days PastWhile remembering the old, I will also celebrate the new. These Twiggy pants are from Poppy, the new fashion collaboration that opened this month. My shoes are from Juju, new to me and can be found at Shoetopia. The come in a fancy, print version as well.

The hair is from equally new-to-me RunAway and at Hairology. My shirt is from Tres Blah, at Collabor88 and the top underneath is an applier from Luxuria–the texturing half of Poppy. The skin is alaskametro’s Chi released at Skin Fair which just closed up shop, meaning you can find it in the store or marketplace.

Carrie Bradshaw said, “The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.” I suppose I should credit Candice Bushnell, but the words are Carrie’s. If only Carrie could go to Shoetopia to find some really special ones.

“The trouble with simple living is that, though it can be joyful, rich, and creative, it isn’t simple.”

Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the worldThalia Heckroth™ has made minimalism and simplicity her design signature. But just as  Doris Janzen Longacre was correct when talking about simple living not being simple, minimalist design is just as deceptively complex. Embellishment is easy, structure is hard. Look at the structure on this gorgeously simple dress. Look at the bodice and the way the sleeves are inset. This is a deceptive form of simplicity that is the hallmark of good design. I decided to go for pink, out of the many color choices this dress comes in. I was tired. Pink wakes me up.

And bring your dollies three

“It's too cold outside for angels to fly.”

Blueberry / Show Time / Maitreya – Nel Shoe

Hey, hey, oh playmate,
Come out and play with me
And bring your dollies three
Climb up my apple tree

Slide down my rain barrel
Into my cellar door
And we’ll be jolly friends
Forever more, more, more.

The choices that are my own…

Where then do I look for good and evil? Not to uncontrollable externals, but within myself to the choices that are my own . .
My computer has been on sabbatical since December 18th. It took a trip to Cupertino to soak in the warmer weather and pick up a new logic board. Luckily, it returned last night just in time for me to show off this gorgeous dress from ISON before Collabor88 shimmies itself into a new monthly showcase on the 8th. Is this not lovely and it comes in five colors and I posed on that pose stand clicking the HUD through those colors over and over and over and over again trying to decide. It was impossible, they are all wonderful. So, I eenie-meenied my way to this lovely rose shade. I am decisive like that sometimes.
