And the Fabbie Goes to…

It's Only Fabulous

This post is a Fabbie!

It’s been a while since a blog post left me aching with laughter, but I read a priceless post last night that will become a classic of Second Life blogging. Penned by Harper Ganesvoort from Around the Grid, this post brings us the Genesis of Second Life.  I won’t quote too much, because you really need to follow that link above and read the entire thing for yourself, but just to give you an idea of what you will find, here’s a small sample.

In the beginning Philip created the Grid.  And the Grid was without form, and digitally void; and darkness was upon the face of the screen. And the Code of Philip moved upon the chips of the memory.

Now get thee to Around the Grid posthaste!

Misali Moonlight

Baiastice Veronica

So I went looking for a lovely place to shoot and found Misali – a gorgeous water sim with small islands that hold lovely little set pieces perfect for the SL photographer. Since I was wearing the purple and sapphire dress and jacket outfit from Baiastice I decided to use the lovely Purple Moonlight windlight setting from Elysium Elide. I love the dress and the jacket and like them together, though this does highlight one of the reasons I have not become a 100% supporter of mesh. I would love to have them as separate pieces, but unlike system clothing, mesh separates can be difficult to fit together. Some strategies I have used to make mesh separates work is to wear a M under and an L on top, though that does not always work. That’s why designers like Baiastice’ Sissy Pessoa make the outfits in one unified mesh instead of separates. It makes them work together perfectly, adjusting to your poses and preventing all intersections, but it does reduce our opportunity to make individualist styling choices.

Or maybe we just have to dig a little deeper to come up with new ways to add our own quirks and options. Here, I added the collar and sleeve fur pieces from a Bliss Couture jacket. I decided to tie the jacket more directly to the dress, adding the accents in the sapphire color of the dress.

You Can Get Addicted To A Certain Kind of Sadness

I’ve been whirling and twirling through real life barely giving my pixel doll the attention she needs, so I thought that I should catch up and toss out all the pics I’ve been gathering in FLICKR and playing with over the past few days.

I am wearing so much mesh I make the grid shake while I walk. And I probably look naked and crazy to people on non-mesh viewers. Note to self, don’t wear this around Codie.

I love the new Samara skin from Adam N Ever, it’s a gorgeous, very polished look without being over made up. And it’s named after one of my favorite people so of course if she was the inspiration – it just HAD to be lovely didn’t it?

If your colors were like my dreams

I haz orange pants.

Today I’m wearing new pants from Ingenue, these mesh peg-legged “Seberg” pants. I adore the color and the very discrete camel toe. I’ve also fallen into a slight rut with my skin. It’s very difficult for me to take off MiaSnow’s beautiful different-colored skins when I put them on. (Please make new ones, Miss MiaSnow, so that I can wear ’em!)

The ocean is a desert with its life underground

apr11_007

One of the most enigmatic songs of all time popped into my head while trying to conjure up a title for this post. I was sim-hopping through the many Linden Endowment for the Arts sims and stopped off at one (LEA17) that struck me as having a gorgeous, high desert atmosphere that might be fun for playing around with shadows. I used the Barcelona windlight setting though I fiddled around with the time of day and where east was relative to the sim just to arrange the lighting more conveniently. My outfit was great for trekking about – though that Maitreya top actually has a long, draping open back.

Ghost of You

As much as I like to be a fancy Barbie, I have to admit I love casual clothes which seems pointless as I have tons of them in real life. But, I do. Pink Outfitters has always been one of my favorite places for separates, and I am remembering what I love about that shop with these jeans and cool summer sweater.

There is no such thing as too many jeans, and despite the fact that I have a bajillion pairs I always want NEW jeans, so I am going to add Pink Outfitters to my list of awesome creators of cute jeans. Continue reading

Sometimes, you just gotta don the octopus hair

Purple sea, green skin (1)

This one’s from Weather or Not (!WorN?), for the Crazy Hair Hunt, and it made me reminisce about the old squid hat that Gritty Kitty created for an ancient Koreshan bake sale. (Gosh, who remembers that?) The two items are much different, though. The WorN one is beautiful and elegant (beyond all imagination, who’d’a thought an octo-hat would be elegant!), and the Gritty Kitty one is adorable. I’ll have to dig it out and show you guys sometime… Anyway, I do believe I have my next Illusions Masque outfit alllll picked out…

Oh DAMN Am I Late?

Ah, the never ending battle of time between RL and SL made me a late SL bunny this year.

But, candy and eggs are good no matter what time of year right? RIGHT!

Personally, I think that Easter Candy should be given out for PMS like prescriptions. “Eat one Cadbury Egg an hour until  you feel happy.”

I should totally be a doctor, I swear. Continue reading

First I bite off the ears

:D!

Happy Easter! A little late, sorry, I was busy stuffing my face. I’m totally Buddhist (being half Asian and all), but in an American non-secular way I ABSOLUTELY stand behind any holiday that endorses eating awesome food and giving away lots of chocolate. Therefore, I hope you guys had tons of both today, no matter what creed. Cheers!
