I
thought I blogged this a week ago. Oops! First, I have to deal with the quote I used for the title. The internet is a disaster for quote lovers and this is an example of why. Which Helen Thompson? My guess this quote may have come from the wife of the race horse trainer, David Thompson. I am pretty darn sure it did not come from this Helen Thompson and by the way, I am even more sure that fifth quote is also one that belongs to the woman whose life was in racing, not the psychologist studying gender differences who was born in 1874.

Waterfront

It’s your last moments to grab the goodies at Collabor88 before the new stuff starts rolling in for set up tomorrow. This darling suit is perfect for sunning yourself by a waterfront location, you know there are thousands to choose from.
Personally I prefer our own land.

I like Gelato by Michelle Halster. The ice cream cone is placed according to the Rule of Fifths and it is a focal point in this photo, however, its real intensity comes from the eye contact between the two of them, the way they hold each other’s hands. That sense of being in a world of their own is accentuated by the sky forming an arc around them.
I like <3 by ♥Talija♥. First I love forsythia, so this immediately drew my eye. I love the way she uses the flowers to make a frame within the frame, encircling her face. Continue reading
Bringing Color and Wonder

I looked across the lake and found that Cajsa has tinted a new house from Barnesworth Anubis that you can pick up at Collabor88 to a striking RED color. I’m so in love with it that I’m envious I didn’t think of it myself.
It was rather lovely to wake up to, I have to admit. Continue reading
Rescued
My great-niece recently rescued a couple horses from a kill pen, the third generation of horse rescuers in my family. Kill pen horses are usually sold for pet food because they are considered problematic, untrainable, vicious and dangerous. They usually require a level of training most people just will not invest. In time, though, they can learn to trust and be trusted. If you want to see the evidence, see my great-grand niece cleaning this rescued horse’s hooves just two weeks into training…and the foundations for a fourth generation of rescuers begins. It was thinking about them, the work they are doing, and that two other nieces are doing, that I thought I might take this month’s house from Barnesworth for Collabor88 and set up a farm. I tinted it, one of the things I love about Barnesworth homes.
Mornings Are Slow

I am behind on so much blogging work, but right now I’m lazy so I thought I would just sit around my house and do nothing.
Well, that’s something, anyway, right?

It’s Getting Hot

I decided the perfect way to start my week this Monday was to take a dip in my pool. Most people might wait until Memorial Day in the states to christen the pool but I figure my pool is exempt from such provincial traditions.
I’m sporting a new bathing suit, and I can never have enough of them. This one is actually FREE if you join the Boom Clothing company VIP group – WHICH INCREDIBLY is also free to join. Aranel Ah is back in SL full force and she’s released this as a little teaser to get you come check out her goods! I suggest you do so! Continue reading

I like Out on the Edge by Isabella.N. even though it gives me an uncomfortable reminder of when I fell off a cliff overlooking the Missouri River. Lucky for me, the face was perpendicular so I bounced a few times on the way down, slowing the momentum.
Bad memories aside, this photo evokes other emotions as well, the exhilaration of challenging yourself, of being ahead and apart from the madding crowd, of being out on the edge. It is also a beautiful example of the Golden Ratio at work.
I like I’m Sorry by Marion Beresford. I like the bright light and the subsequent contrast between the brightness of the right that blows out the background and the shadow on the right that her hair fades into. However what I like most of all is the emotions projected by her eyes, the tilt of her head, the furrowed brows. I like this avatar’s face. Continue reading
