Feels Like Fall

I have to confess I’m an addict for fall. While the heat in the RL stays in the 90s my SL turns into a pumpkin colored wonderland at the first hint of autumn. The SALEM event kicked off and that has to mean it’s fall doesn’t it? I’m positive it means that. I’m sporting new lips and eye BLACK MAGIC makeup from ALASKA METRO that you can pick up at SALEM.

I’m doing a bit of urban shopping today in a sharp suit from Baiastice and my favorite HAT HAIR from Hair Fair this year. Every year I declare a BEST HAT HAIR at Hair Fair and honestly – THIS IS IT FOR ME. SO CUTE. Perfect for the breezy city streets while I look for the next bargain! Continue reading →

For Hair Fair this year, I will be interviewing willing victims (designers) about their participation in Hair Fair and their love of hair. Nodoka Vella is the creator for {Amiable} and has a booth at Hair Fair with adorable kawaii styles. 

What’s your favorite thing about Hair Fair?

The most favorite thing that I think is we can see so many beautiful hairs at the same place and also same time each year from all over the world in SL. We can enjoy the gift and also amazing hair shopping experience. I am always inspired by other’s creations and respect the other designers.

What drew you to creating hair, arguably one of the most difficult challenges for creators?

Recently the hairs in SL are really high quality, I need to brush up my skills and also work harder and harder every year. The hairs are really beautiful and have more details, so I need to spend time to make each hair and also think about unique design of hairs for my idea.

How would you describe your brand’s aesthetic or niche?

There are so many cool and amazing hair shops in SL. I try to make unique Japanese hair styles and also want to introduce “JAPANESE KAWAII” fashions for customers in SL, so I always give the nice opportunity to enjoy shopping with cheap price. I want people in SL to get more choice to shop unique items. I hope you guys enjoy SL more and more<3

What comic/cartoon character would shop at your store? Veronica, Betty, Olive Oyl, Miss Piggy, Storm?

Do you have a funny hair story to share?

When I was a child, I decided to cut my own bangs—once! I didn’t know what I was doing. OMG!!! My bangs stood straight up. LOL. I was really disappointed. My hair looked so ugly!!!!!! I did not try that again.

Oh hai! Apparently there’s a trend on Flickr that consists of taking pictures sideways, or with an horizontal avatar. From what I understand the goal is to get one’s picture picked as group cover, then one snapshots said cover and posts it again on their Flickr. I find that last part highly ridiculous, but just like bloggers referring to designers as “sponsors”, I guess that’s how the world goes nowadays and you just have to go with the flow. I do miss simpler times, when one blogged just what they liked, when they liked it, and once in a while would get blogger copies and would be over the moon with them… oh well, I’ll just keep my old fart’s habits and hope people enjoy my ramblings. But just for today, just for the fun of it, here’s a horizontal picture :

Hair Fair is one of Second Life’s oldest traditions – the oldest probably being something skeevy we won’t mention here. I can remember my earliest exposure to Hair Fair and I can even remember the hair I fell in love it.

Gogo blogged the hair, and I just knew I had to have it.  It was a wavy blonde, and it had a cute braid and it was adorable.  I ran straight over and bought it.

When I saw this release for Hair Fair from Wasabi Pills it reminded me SO MUCH of the original I loved (the original had the braid down the side and let’s face it, it was flexi SO NOT THIS PRETTY) I really really wanted to do a side by side. I thought it might be fun to take a look at the amazing progress our creators of hair have made over the past decade.

But then I realized I had deleted that hair.  141k in inventory and I’ve deleted the damn one I want. Nice. Continue reading →

As Gidge told you earlier, Hair Fair is here!! If you needed an extra reason to go, here are a few :

  1. It’s for a good cause : every purchase has a 15 to 40% donation to Wigs For Kids.
  2. The sims are really easy to navigate : start at landing point, follow the path and you will walk by every store.
  3. Everything has been made so that it’s not lag fest : minimalist decor and scripts. I do however recommend you wear a full alpha and nothing else, and show friends only, to help keep everyone’s experience nice and smooth.
  4. If you’re a hair whore like me, you’ll have your fix of gorgeous hair!

Well made myself a proper breakfast and have my plans for today. I like to spend Sundays in some combination of busy fun and relaxation. It’s a perfect day for baking and relaxing – which I’ve already started while I eat my delicious breakfast.

What do you like to bake as fall moves in? I’m a traditionalist, at the first hint of cool air I’m ready for apple everything and the pumpkin spice.

On Sunset

End of my holiday weekend winds down and finds me back at home on Juicy. I’m not sad though. I’ve been unpacking – slowly but surely. It’s kind of cathartic to reinvent my SLife in a new place again, even if that place is in fact an old place.

I slipped into some new lingerie that you can find at The Arcade. It’s perfect for a cozy evening in, alone or perhaps with someone special.  I personally still pine for my love who abandoned me for the glories of Azeroth. Maybe he’ll return someday. With no real destination in mind I got behind the wheel at sunset and decided to travel off the beaten path. I just needed to get somewhere I hadn’t been, somewhere to be a silent version of me for a day perhaps, one where I could reflect and think alone.

I have a new car, so what better time to go exploring?
