Voyeur

I can’t believe how much time I lost and now it’s almost Halloween and there are about 1000 Halloween things I haven’t done or worn! SO MANY THINGS! I love them all, want to do them all and then some. I don’t even care how silly they are, I am a fiend for Halloween. Continue reading

ECLIPSE Magazine Is Out

ECLIPSE Magazine Cover

The latest issue of ECLIPSE Magazine is out with a cover story on Siddean Munro of SLINK along with Sideman’s own explanation of her creative process from the idea to the release. It’s a don’t miss piece. For the first time, I understand what weight painting means.

Biblbe Oh

I also interviewed Bibbe Oh, the SL artist who is the first life Bibbe Hansen, also an artist. She brings her SL art to first live galleries and bridges those two worlds seamlessly. She also has a fascinating life story full of amazing characters and creatives.

Aradia Aridian wrote a great article on kid’s fashions, called Baby Got Swag. There are also several great fashion pieces full of photos.

Each month, we hear from the general public in Second Life in Voices from the Grid, interviewing residents on one topic. This month’s Voices From the Grid asks “How real is Second Life?”

LAQ and Rainy Days

Cold rainy days are to be expected, but a good hot meal makes me feel so much better most days. My new home is settling in to place for me rather nicely, and despite my typist being away for several days, I’m in a cozy place without her while I wait. I can’t ask for much more. Continue reading

Beauty: It Curves

“Beauty: it curves, curves are beauty. Shapely goddesses, Venus, Juno: curves the world admires.”…James Joyce

curves the world admires...James Joyce
I am back at Furillen, the bleak and desolate sim replicating a limestone quarry and luxury hotel off Sweden’s coast. It’s bleak and spare and there is an austere beauty that makes it compelling. There is nothing austere, however, about me today.

Siddean Munro has released her newest mesh body, the Slink Physique Hourglass, a body for the curvilinear, the well-endowed Mae Wests and the wasp-waisted Dollys and Scarletts. Standard mesh will not fit because there is nothing standard about Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth or any of the other bombshells whose curves defined female beauty far centuries.

Women who opt for the Hourglass figure will have to wear appliers or specially made clothing, though certainly many clothing designers will rush to serve this market. Blueberry, whose dress I am wearing in these pictures, is among the first and even gifted all purchasers of the Hourglass Physique with a free bikini in the mesh body’s packaging from Slink.

In order for the light to shine brightly, the darkness must be present.

In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.
Francis Bacon, the great scientist-philosopher wrote, “In order for the light to shine brightly, the darkness must be present.” The truth of this is demonstrated every time I work with projectors. They are brightest when it is darkest. I thought of this quote, though, in relation to this avant garde outfit from Liziaah. It explores form and texture and through its form, the interplay of dark and light. Released in deep, dark shades of aubergine, royal blue and black, the colors provide the darkness.
In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.
Explorations of form, curving shapes and an open back reveal the light of exposed skin made brighter by their relation to the dark, rich fabrics.

Lelutka Brings You….EXPRESSIONS….

My favorite anchor woman when I was growing up had this AMAZING HUGE mole in her eyebrow which she perpetually waxed around, giving her what we dubbed in high school “The Renegade Eyebrow”. With the new expressions HUD you available for the new release of the Lelutka Mesh Heads you can customize your face, not only with expressions  but little details like “what do I want my eyebrows to look like? That’s a feature we’ve had since tattoo layers came about with default heads so YAY for that.

And this version of the renegade eyebrow is far lovelier as there is no giant mole there.

New versions of the Lelutka heads with expressions and even more awesome are coming out on Wednesday…so get ready to check them out girls!

Now, I’m off!

Ciao!

Dorian Gray Did It Wrong

“I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray told his friend Julain, “I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” He sold his soul for a painting and eternal youth. He should have just joined Second Life® and mastered his emotions with Lelutka’s new updated mesh head.

As you can see, when you decide to express yourself, you can control your eyes, your eyebrows and your mouth. This gives you 84 different expressions. You can also decide whether or not your teeth should be visible.

Glam Affair released two new applier skins to coincide with the release of the updated expressive heads from Lelutka. They are named Eline and Laura and I am wearing Laura in all the pictures. Because of my dress, I wanted a different lipstick, so I used Glam Affair’s Avril for the lip color I wanted. My hair is from Wasabi Pills, a nice undo to show off the head and the Earthstones jewelry.

I played with the free Pixlr photo editor that mainly just lets you apply effects and frames to have some fun with my expressions. You can crop, but fixing things is a non-starter. So enjoy this little gallery of emotions and photo effects below the fold.

“I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” Oscar Wilde

The Instruments opened today with lots of fun fashions including this gorgeous LBD from Tashi. I also used the Tashi nails that are quite horrorific just in time for Halloween.

I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”

Charlotte Bronte, who wrote Jane Eyre, the unforgettable heroine who said those strong, independent and feminist words, was not the first feminist. However, I don’t think it is an accident that the word feminist was coined within five years of her classic novel. I have been thinking about feminism and Jane Eyre lately, and most particularly this, “I am a free human being with an independent will.” The other day, a Washington Post opinion piece focused on how women are expected to surround their ideas and opinions with weak, soothing qualifiers to protect the tender male ego. It imagined famous quotes as said by women complying with the cultural demand that they efface their ideas. It’s funny and painful because it is so true. It is sad that more than 150 years later, a woman saying “I am a free human being with an independent will,” is still revolutionary.
