Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn

Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.

Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us not to look at sunset as the end, but as a promise of a new beginning. It seemed somewhat appropriate for this post featuring several items from the June showcase at Collabor88. Tomorrow is the final day. Collabor88’s sun sets at midnight, but brings the promise of a new dawn at midnight on the 8th when the July Showcase opens with its brand new theme, Treasured Memories. I so love that Collabor88 avoids the cliche themes and color schemes that tend to surround holidays.

June’s theme was crisp and clean and that’s how I feel in this lovely set from Zaara. The coverup comes in sheer and opaque options and fits perfectly over the swimsuit. There’s a HUD to specify the suit color and whether the trim is silver or gold

As If It Were A Thing

Americans are morally obliged to do a beach thing for the 4th of July. If we can’t get to a beach we’re obliged to do some other sort of outdoor thing that is BEACH LIKE in nature. In SL of course, I have no constraints on location so I found a perfect beach spot to hang out and spend some quality me time in the sun.

I actually stumbled upon this little vacation spot quite by accident – it’s lovely, I’m putting the SLURL in my details below.  Continue reading

The Prodigal Alt Returns

It was only a matter of time before she showed back up. She arrived shortly after dawn and asked where the coffee was, as if I was supposed to have it ready. I already had a full day on my schedule, and no time right then for socializing – but she said she’d just hang out at the house and wait for me to return.

As usual she’s been living in sandboxes, tanning and wearing 1L clothes (note the Larry jeans, always 1L on MP) and generally being a mess in her SL. I wondered if I could even get her into a mesh body or would her luddite impulses prevail? Continue reading

Lots of Living to Do

No place like home

Nine more hours to pull your heart out. I am particularly fond of the YS & YS buffet. It’s very retro-mod. Don Draper might have it in his living room.

The Curtain Closes on the Arcade Soon…but there is STILL TIME

More DIRE than the last call for alcohol is the last few hours of THE ARCADE. What didn’t you get yet? If you’re a blogger and you didn’t pull for these adorable decor items from Le Primtif you’re missing out. They are the perfect accoutrements to your studio – they all fell into my MUST HAVE list for sure. I’m also besieged by cats this morning from MUTRESSE – also still available at the ARCADE. My little corgi from Jian has become a staple at my house, you still have a few hours to grab yours as well. Continue reading

A Blogger’s Work is Never Done

No place like home

The Arcade ends tomorrow and if you’re a blogger, you really should drop by Le Primitif’s machine and give it a few pulls because it is a gift to bloggers. There’s a desk, a PC, a phone, a cup of coffee, shelving, boxes of unopened stuff to blog and even a clothing rack full of clothes to blog. The PC that you get shows the time, but I changed the desktop picture to match my own desktop. Here’s a link if you want the picture for your own desktop.

Back in My Own Bed

No place like home

It’s funny how good it feels to sleep in your own bed again after traveling. It is not that any of the places I stayed had uncomfortable beds. They were all lovely, but sure enough, back in my own bed, I slept longer with fewer interruptions. Why? I think it must be the sounds. At both my sisters’ houses it was just too quiet. No cars passing, no sirens, no garbage trucks at 5 AM. Instead, it was silent except for the chirps and rattles of the martins, the long whistles of the cardinals and orioles, and the shrieks of blue jays. My one sister is quite a birder with special houses and feeders, though it was kind fun and frustrating watching a squirrel carrying off the oranges she put out for the orioles. This bed is from DRD, part of the wonderful romantic collection released for The Arcade. The lovely letter and rose petals came from Fancy Decor at The Arcade, but it is more fun to pretend they came from a long lost love.

Fighting The Elements…

I awoke depressed, certain that my future as a blogger was at an end due to the recurrence of a recent tropical depression that is a fashion icon and a MAN MAGNET. That’s right, the undefinable and incomparable Swirly Cyclone has RETURNED.

We old timers existed in her shadow, hoping to one day be as glamorous and fantastic as the amazing Swirly. When she left we all breathed a sigh of relief, we no longer had to feel second best. AT LAST we could just accept ourselves and not desperately try to be as lovely and witty as Swirly. Continue reading

Feeling Beusy

I’ll admit I don’t stray from my tried and true stylists that often, I’m a creature of habit I am. But this month’s Collabor88 introduced me to a new to me stylist that I do like quite a bit – Beusy. Continue reading
