Seven Facts

mar12_004

The top and skirt from Tee*fy are emblematic of the New Romance theme at this month’s Collabor88. I could not resist the oh-so-feminine fishnet gloves from Adore & Abhor. They are old, but they are wonderful.

Berry has asked for folks to participate in her Seven SL Facts Meme and as they saying goes, “Let no good meme go unpublished,” so here goes.

1. I own the same 512 sm piece of land I bought back in 2007 when I joined SL. It’s on the Linden Ocean and I will never let it go.

2. One of my favorite things to do in SL is playing in the ocean with my 1L sailboat I bought at Enkythings my first week in SL.

Day to Night

Mar09_003

When we can change clothes with a click of button, carrying our entire closet with us wherever we go, we aren’t burdened with the challenge of trying to dress for the office and a date with one outfit. However, I thought it might be a fun thing to try anyway. I will concede the skirt is short for the office, but overall, I think this made a fairly good office look. I wore a lovely structured jacket from Elate with a snug waist that flows into a petal-like near peplum. I added a big fluffy bow from Yummy! to add a touch of modesty to the bodice. The bow was a pale mint, but I tinted it to limit my shades of green to two, not three. Both of these finds are from the March Collabor88.

Mar09_004

But when five o’clock rolls around, the jacket is coming off and that fluffy bow is being rotated to hang over the shoulder, so the gorgeous and sexy bandeau style bodice on this fabulous mini from Cracked Mirror is visible in all its glory. You can find this dress at faMESHed.

New Romance

mar08_005

This is the month many of you will fall in love with Collabor88 all over again. The theme is New Romance and it is rife with hearts and flowers, frills and furbelows and overall romantic femininity. It’s so sweet and girlie, you will have to brush your teeth after visiting. The epitome of the triple strawberry sundae with whipped cream and a cherry on top that is this New Romance showcase is the delightful Shabby Chic confection from Nylon Outfitters. First, let me say Brava! to Nylon Pinkney for recognizing that mesh is not the be-all and end-all of SL design and for opting instead to use the best option to realize her design. She has a lovely assortment of dresses in a lovely challis with a large, old-fashioned floral print. With them, she adds a lovely sheer lace blouse. She uses mesh for the skirt panel, but lets the dress fit snuggly and the see-through lace work with struggling with alphas.

I headed over the Visionaria for the Insight Forest Photo & Art Exhibition. It was a lovely spot and I could not resist shooting my post photos before walking through the gallery to enjoy the fabulous art work. There are ten artists exhibiting and you definitely should stop by and see their work.

Make Mine a Sarsaparilla with Phosphate

Mar07_006

I headed out to an old-fashioned diner thinking I would like an old-fashioned soda. When I was a child, it was an 85 mile drive to go to the eye doctor, so mom always gave me a special treat taking me to this old-fashioned diner that served phosphates. I always ordered a sarsaparilla phosphate and just the thought of one makes me thirsty and homesick and of course, makes me miss my mom. I stopped off at the Roadside Diner and I would have ordered a sarsaparilla phosphate, but the jerk was obviously taking a long, long break.

Visiting Elysion

Sometimes they come back 😛

Hello, everybody! I hope you are all doing good.
That weird thing called Real Life is keeping me really busy and i miss my SL, i miss my friends, i miss blogging. Some nights i managed to get online, but i was so tired that i logged on to stay only a few minutes, then off to bed.

One night i wasn’t that sleepy, i digged through my closet….erm…inventory, i put on some recent and less recent items and went exploring.
I visited Elysion, a lush adult lounge whose decadent and sensual atmosphere really enchanted me, so, playing with Phototools, I shot this snap:

After looking at it i realized i was wearing such cool stuff that i had to blog about it and Elysion was simply the perfect location for my shots.

Sunshine in the Asylum

Feb02_007

Nyunyu Magic of NYU has released an adorable long blouse (or short dress) in several colors with white or beige contrasting stripes. I decided to wear the black and white because I just purchased some new jewelry that I thought would work well with the dress. Black and white also suits the mod aesthetic of its straight-line shape, while in red and white or blue and white, it has a more nautical air.

Feb02_003

In keeping with the mod aesthetic, I decided to wear the great thigh-high suede boots from Baiastice. While boots in the Sixties and Seventies were usually knee-high, I was going for a retro vibe, not a retro costume.

Still Looking

feb01_003

Stopping off in another place to look for letters for the Room 326 hunt as it draws to a close before MadPea Productions opens a new hunt, I saw this fabulous old merry-go-round and had to go for a ride. I was dressed in some of the items from the last two Baiastice releases including this gorgeous handbag released a couple of weeks ago. With a rich alligator hide and classic styling, it’s a wonderful handbag to hold all those letters I am finding (or not finding).

Looking for Letters

jan31_004

Just because I am on the hunt for the 15 missing letters to help solve the Room 326 Hunt doesn’t mean I have to dress down. Some of the places you travel to along the way are quite elegant and deserve a little care spent on my appearance. Besides, I have wanting to wear the Tulip dress from E! Eclectic Apparel for Collabor88 almost all month. The Tulip dress is a chic little strapless number with a grosgrain black ribbon highlighting the empire waist that leads to a front pleat dress. The pleat’s soft folds convey the idea of a tulip giving the dress its name.  Continue reading

Diaphanous Spindrift

Jan29_005

Onomatopoeia is the word that describes those words who sound like the sounds they describe. As the song goes, it’s “sort of zoom, zip, hiccup, drip
Ding, dong, crunch, crack, bark, meow, whinnie, quack.” But I think we need a word for words that sounds like what they mean. Take diaphanous, for example. Diaphanous usually is used to refer to sheer fabrics, but to me, the word even sounds diaphanous. Isn’t there something sort of light and feminine of the “dis” leading into the soft and delicate sound of “phan” that rolls in to whispery soft “pus.” Of course a word that sounds like that has to mean delicate, light, ethereal.

Jan29_003

The Splash (onomatopoeia) dress from SySy’s is diaphanous. Its layers are sheer as cobwebs, a gossamer confection of sheer fabric floating over another layers of fabric and falling like a spindrift on the waves of the ocean. The ombre silver to green color of the fabric adds to the seafoam delicacy as to the waves suggested by the hemline.

Doubling Up Again

jan24_004

Did Monica Outlander intend to give us two dresses in one with her recent release of her Lorella gown for MiaMai? We cannot be sure, but we can be sure that opera length or full length, this gown delivers. With its rich brocade fabric in glorious jewel tones to the details such as the bow on the back and the bottom ruffle of flexi rib satin that gives it movement, the Lorella gown combines sumptuous luxury with sassy joie d’vivre.

Jan24_005

In this picture, I have left the lower part of the skirt off, giving myself a lovely below-the-knee cocktail dress. This also lets you see the Lily pumps with their triple bows, another saucy bit of fashion know-how from MiaMai.
