Baiastice has a fun punk outfit for Collabor88 with skirt, vest and bra top. I chose the tartan option because tartan is such a great punk print.

Fashion For Change
Fashion For Change opened yesterday – a fundraising event to raise money for Womankind Worldwide, an organization working to challenge discrimination against women around the world and to increase women’s participation and voice in the policies that affect their lives. Fashion For Change runs from April 11th through the 25th and several of my favorite stores are participating including Azul. This dress is an exclusive for Fashion For Change and was created with options to change it up. Here I am wearing it without the overskirt.
Collabor88 Bop
With apologies to The Ramones.
They’re shopping in a straight line,
They’re bouncing off a full sim,
the fashionistas are losing their minds.
Collabor88 Bop.
Hey ho, let’s go! hey ho, let’s go!
Hey ho, let’s go! hey ho, let’s go!
They’re piling on the mesh bits,
Trying to to make it all fit,
Pretty in Punk’s a big hit.
Collabor88 Bop.
Hey ho, let’s go
Shoot’em in the back now
What they want, I don’t know
They’re all dressed up and ready to go

Sly Lurkers of the Underbrush
My senior year I was chosen as the class nonconformist. That made sense as I was politically active and that’s never the conformist way to be. I was also the only person to graduate without taking biology. I had fought the school requirement all the way to the state high school accreditation board – arguing I merely had to take any science of my choice and did not have to take a biology class. Instead I took physics. I really did not want to dissect anything. A couple classmates, a couple that would often disappear into closets for a kiss or two or three, were named the Sly Lurkers of the Underbrush. That cracked me up. I had never heard the phrase before or since, but it fit them somehow. I am not quite lurking in the underbrush at Eclectica, but I am lurking.
Of course, you can’t really lurk without being noticed when your dress is this chic and sporty, can you? The Filton dress from Hucci for Collabor88 has all sorts of sporty details such as the stripe on the sleeve and the inset on the skirt. It’s striking, modernist and minimalist with a huge helping of chic.

The Zen of Ironing
For me, ironing has always been a peaceful relaxing activity. I would set up the ironing board in the living room by the couch and have the unearned in a basket on one side and an empty basket on the other to place the newly ironed pieces. I would lower the ironing board so I could sit on the couch and watch something on television while I ironed and work away. It’s quiet, peaceful and easy to do, so ironing was a favorite chore.
Mesh heads will not make us all look alike.
One of the fears people have about adopting mesh heads is that we will become clones of each other – all looking the same, but that is not something we really need to fear. There are many mesh heads from which to choose. There are many skins that can be applied to each head. Different hair colors and styles, different eyes, different skins with varied makeup. All theses styling choices give us variation. If you doubt that, look at this showcase. Sure, I would love a mesh version of my own face, but with the many mesh heads out there, it is possible to find something close. The Ever head from Lelutka is the one that feels closest for me.

Don′t Miss Fashion For Life
If you are anything like me, you wait a day or two for the fast frenzy of an event opening to slow down a bit. Then, distracted, you forget and start anticipating the next event which you will also defer attending for a day or two. Meanwhile, the first event continues and all of a sudden it is nearly over and you are this [ ] close to missing it. Well, you are that [ ] close to missing Fashion For Life. It ends tomorrow, so go today.
That is where I found this delightful sky blue pink dress from G. Field. It gets all the feminine details just right from the ruffles along the neckline to the softly puffed sleeves to the bow that ties in the back. Add the cherry blossoms that fade into the blue of the sky and it’s just a dream of a dress.
There is no shopping guide this year, so it is a bit tricky to find specific stores. However, there is one way you can always find exactly what you want and exactly where to find it. Go the list of in-world items at Relay For Life’s web site. Here is the link to a database of all the vendors. Select the type of item you are looking for. For example, I wanted to find Essenz shoes for Fashion For Life, so I selected Avatar Shoes and hit Go. This brought up a list.

As you can see, the item name is there, I can mouseover for a picture, and it has info on the team and the price as well. The far left text is hyperlinked to a slur that will take you to the exact spot where you can find the item you want.

I’ve Got Sunshine On a Cloudy Day
Don’t you love it when the sun is bright and streams in through the windows creating an interplay of light and shadow in your home? I know cats love it as they shift to follow the light. I am more a shade person and will shift from the sunlight into the shade, but I still love to see the beams of light moving across my home.
My dress is a super-feminine lace dress from Gizza called Cara. It is very demure and feminine from the front, though there is a bit of a surprise from the back as you shall see.
I am relaxing in the living room from my new cottage by dust bunny that I picked up at The Arcade. Through the windows you can see the greenhouse as well. The side tables and the pitcher of baby’s breath and the book on the far table are all from the dust bunny collection at The Arcade. Scarlet Creative’s Amelie sofa seems made for this sweet little cake of a house. I changed the pictures in the frames from the DRD frames I got at December’s Arcade. I thought it might be fun to put in old family photos, so the pictures are of my grandmother, great grandfather, great-great-great grandfather, a family reunion in 1901 and other old family photos.

Magnolias and the Lilies of the Field

One of the surprises when I moved to Oregon were the magnificent magnolia trees. I had seen them in pictures, of course, but I thought of them as southern trees, not trees to flourish in the Pacific Northwest. But flourish they do. They are in bloom now.
Magnolias have such a grandiose beauty, without fear of being gaudy or flamboyant. They just are what they are. They don’t hide their exuberance, their size or their extravagance. It reminds me of one of my favorite Bible verses, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;they toil not, neither do they spin, yet Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”
The scarf that is belted to this dress from NYU reminds me a bit of the exuberant magnolia petals. With a color-change HUD, there are 10 plain or 10 print scarf options. The dress itself comes in 10 colors that match the scarf options.

Designer Download — AvaGardner Kungler

I have been wearing Kungler’s jewelry, shoes and clothing since 2008. In fact, I just checked and this will be the 227th post with the Kunglers tag. A Kunglers design is instantly recognizable, not just because the quality is unimpeachable, but because there is this organic fusion of urban sophistication with the reckless exuberance of the wild.—
It’s Only Fashion: What was your first day in Second Life like? What made you stick it out through the learning curve?
Ava Kungler: I made an account on Second Life by invitation of my sister, who already was “playing” a few days . After a few weeks teleporting between places, it became clear the need for an occupation, since I wanted to learn more about this new world. The first thing that came to mind was to try an old dream with fashion and design. As I already had some experience with designing tools I thought it would be a great opportunity that I could not miss.
IOF: What’s the craziest thing you ever did in Second Life? Most exciting? Silliest?
AK: Living a virtual world is already somehow something crazy … but when I remember my first fashion show , that was exciting!!… it was something surreal that made me very nervous while ecstatic to see my creations being shown on the catwalk. Continue reading
