Blue leaves of Spring

I’ve been browsing a Finnish fashion site lately called Hel Looks.  What I’ve noticed is that for the cold northern Spring, people are wearing bright tights and socks with open-toed shoes.  I got all inspired by this and put together an outfit with a nice baggy tunic feel to the top and bright legs.  I found it was easy to put together this look with clothing from Milk Motion — Marie Lauridsen has the shape that suits this kind of style, comfortably baggy with great colors and a worn, vintage feeling to the textures.

I was also inspired by my brand new TREE!  Look at that awesome tree, it’s the new and beautiful Crann Bethadh from Schadenfreude.  I bought the blue one, but I’m going to get the pink soon especially for my dearest partner Jackal.  (Another picture and credits below the cut!)

It all matches her engagement ring

The British royal family is the only one in the world where Cinderella stories still happen. I guess it comes from having eligible princes, right?  I think I’ve been wondering who Wills would marry since he was born, simply because the girl of his choice would become a princess on the level of any Disney movie heroine.  The prerequisites for princess in a Disney movie are: beautiful and kind-hearted.  Nowadays, the prerequisites are MUCH tougher.  Lucky for all of us, Kate seems to show the sort of media savvy and practical hard-workingness that makes her eligible for the job.  We’ve seen her flip pancakes while wearing pumps.  She’s hired.

Fashion For Life: Acha's story

After reading through the stories at the Fashion For Life website, I was inspired to write my own.  Two women who are close to me have had cancer.  One, my father’s girlfriend, is a survivor of neck cancer.  The treatment was invasive and terrible, and involved radiation, chemotherapy, and an operation which has made swallowing food extremely uncomfortable to her.  Still, she survived, and has been in remission for a decade now.  The second, my mother-in-law, passed away from pneumonia caught while under a steroid treatment for lung cancer.  Her treatments were also invasive and terrible, but they prolonged her life so that she could meet and enjoy her granddaughter.  I am eternally grateful for donations made toward cancer research, because without these donations, two amazing women would not have had this much time in the world.  I am proud to blog for Fashion For Life.

My candle burns at both ends

I woke up at 3 AM.  Then I thought: OMG. I actually have time to do 50L Friday before work!  At least that was an upside, right?  I’m heading back to bed shortly, but I’d like to point out that the stripey cute shirt is a group gift from Honey Kitty, and the cute little boots are new at that shop too.  My scarf is a 50L Friday item from a shop I hadn’t visited before, Theosophy.  Cute idea!  OK, back to bed for 45 minutes.  Another photo and credits below the cut.

Game day at Mother Road High

New Plume hair!I really love boy clothing because it looks so damned comfortable.  I love it IRL too.  This morning, my avatar rolled out of bed, neglected to shower, put on some facepaint, and headed off to tailgate for the game.  Right?  His jacket is brand new from Arai, and his hair is something he put his fingers into and just kind of messed up.  Actually it’s by Plume, part of a new set that includes beard attachments and different kinds of tattoo-layer face and head hair.  I went with basic blond today, but the whole pack is fun to play with.  Another photo and outfit credits behind the jump!

I'd like to be beside the sea…

This is just a swift post to say that DNA has new male skins out in all three shades and a number of different facial hairs (yay), and Vitamen has a new February gift out. I love them both, especially on the beach.

Butter me up

At a certain point tomorrow, this glorious Limited Edition Corbie suit will be on sale at the ~silentsparrow~ store on Scribble.  Hya says:

“It will be five Limited Edition colors (brass, penny, ghost, violet, sea), 50 of each with 25 in the shop in a limited sale vendor, and 25 on the marketplace.  Then four regular stock colors will be ash, blood, lime, & azure…”

I’m wearing the brass limited edition right now, and I don’t know about you, but I die for this color of melty-gold-butter-orange-awesomeness.  Plus, it’s so Steampunk it hurts.  Wait for the group notice tomorrow with your SLURL at the ready.  Another photo plus outfit credits and an SLURL behind the cut – !

Sometimes it's nice to not wear much

Hey there!  I know I’m a little late for my usual Acha Monday, but life’s been very life-y this week.  I’m making it up to you by showing off this tattoo, which is 69L in honor of a certain day by HUZ.  The tattoo is in the lovely old-school style, depicting two doves and scroll work with the phrase “Be Mine, Valentine.”  I really like the heart in the cleft of the neck!  I’m wearing it with a necklace that means a lot to me.  My partner Jackal made it roughly a year ago, and I remember wearing it while I danced with her at my birthday/rez day party. It’s always symbolized affection to me, and I’m happy to put it on in honor of Valentine’s Day…

Ball slings and fae things

I admit that when I saw Vitamen’s gift for the Men’s Stuff hunt, my first thought was: how the heck do I accessorize it?  And then I realized that the answer was obvious: with a pretty lady. As usual.  Miss Lillian Shippe of Idiot Lollipops (that would make a great band name) agreed to assist me, and together we look like a very over-protective fae big brother trying to keep his little sister away from the prying eyes of humans.  Or something.  At any rate, Acha is totally sporting that pearl thong, and so should you.  (Get information about the Men’s Stuff Hunt here.)

Another photo and outfit credits for us both are below the cut.

Yellow metal

You thought I’d forgotten right?  But nope, it’s Monday, and my boy avatar sneaks quietly onto the pages of It’s Only Fashion.  I’ve been sorting inventory lately, truth be told, and I wondered if it was possible to put together a steampunk outfit using non-steampunk clothing.  It’s actually surprisingly easy, as long as you’ve got a few steam-ish elements, like a top, a vest and a monocle.  The rest of my clothing is anachronistic, which is always good.  He probably hopped back in time using one of Orwell’s machines…
