What Does the Sweater Say?

My latest trip to FaMESHed (Ok I quit calling it Fame Shed except in my mind) was quickly turned into one of whimsy when I ran into this sweater from Mutresse. I bought it thinking I was getting one color, and that it displayed the graphic above. Seriously, it makes me lawl.

What I didn’t realize was that it came with a texture change huge, loads of colors AND little sayings. None as satirical and witty as THIS ONE imho but, that’s just me.

Spotify Me!

For DJ’ing last night, i wore this casual sweater from The Secret Store with some pants from Baiastice.

Sasy Scarborough suggested some time ago that I share my DJ playlists on Spotify so folks can listen even if they can’t come to my set. I set up an account and hope you will follow me. I shared a playlist with Gidge and she confessed that Spotify was too complicated, so I thought I would do a Spotify tutorial.

Coming Soon to The Velvet

As the season of giving draws near, Maht Wuyts, the owner and grand poobah of The Velvet, hopes to capitalize on your giving spirit to support his annual effort to raise funds for Heifer International. In this annual event, Maht will personally spin music for 26.2 hours straight – a marathon (or mahrathon) effort in Second Life and Real Life (at a Chicago coffeehouse) with all the tips going to support Heifer. You can see Heifer highlighting his event last year.

The great thing about Heifer is that it is organized around the idea of sustainability – providing people the resources so they can support themselves and even pay it forward and help their neighbors. By giving people the animals to raise for food and products to sell, they promote independence and self-sufficiency, teaching people to fish, not giving fish – as the saying goes.

Leather Sleeve Pullover from House of Fox – Color.Me.H.O.F at Collabor88

It makes sense that Industrial Chic has come back into fashion in this age of economic insecurity with the middle class fading into the working class. The fashions are a form of solidarity with labor – the use of metals, the hard and soft fabrics, the utilitarian forms and simple silhouettes all avoid blinged out conspicuous consumption in favor of working class colors and practicality. But it’s chic, so there are details that elevate it from banality, details like the inset leather sleeves in this top from House of Fox.

Beige Patent Pumps Just Like Kate

I heard a radio show shortly before the Royal Wedding, talking about beige patent pumps. Beige patent pumps are apparently everything. Kate Middleton had been seeing wearing them at appearances, suddenly you had to have them. The morning shopping guide on the radio show (because this is now a thing apparently) went through and told us what brand Kate was wearing and since we obviously can’t afford those (commoners) told us where to get them priced in our (commoner) price range.

Luckily for us pixel girls, LVLE has come out with a gorgeous pair of beige pumps that fit the bill with gorgeous texturing that subtly shines.  We might not get to marry a prince, but we’ve got cute shoes so really, that’s probably good enough.

LivGlam had a Halloween Hunt on their sim last month and this lovely dress is something I picked up while exploring the nooks and crannies of the shops. I love how most of her outfits have a HUD for changing the color scheme. Today I’m wearing one of the purple options.

Linen and Wool

There is a reason designers and fashionistas encourage natural fabrics. They don’t trap moisture against your skin, “breathing” so that you feel dry and comfortable. They are warm when you need them to be warm and cool when you need them to be cool. Of course, that does not matter much in Second Life® where our pixel weather is always perfectly what we want it to be. But you know, natural fabrics still look right. A Winter Breeze Blows Through COLLABOR88

As the temperatures take a dive in my RL it’s nice to be able dress pixel Gidge up in something toasty and warm. UFO at Collabor88 is filling the bill with this toasty winter cape.

The gorgeous wispy hair from D!VA tells you how windy the lakeside walk is for me today.

In my last post here, one month ago, i talked about some gorgeousness from Collabor88 and now that the October collection is going to be replaced by a new one i would like to show you another fantastic item from C88 which i’m sure you all already know and probably got (such coolness should be a MUST in our inventory).

I was underwhelmed with Materials the first few releases I was introduced to. I don’t mean that as an insult, but as a consumer when you hear creators raving about something for weeks and then you see and think “Oh, that’s all it is? Shiny?” it’s hard to disguise your let down.

I definitely agree that items with materials have more lustre, but other than some furniture items (leather) I just didn’t see the OOOMPH or a real reason to rave like it was the second coming. Continue reading →
